《Unexpected》[18] - confession

It was now Saturday, meaning her date with Maxwell. She was getting ready — wearing a yellow cami sundress with thin straps. She never really liked heels, so she decided to wear her yellow vans.
"Willow! Maxwell is here!"
Quickly hurrying, she rushed downstairs.
"Hey." Maxwell said as his eyes soften.
"Hi." The girl replied.
"Okay don't be out too late. And you. If you hurt her, I will have your head. I will make sure you wish you never even met her. Am I clear?" Oliver said looking serious.
Gulping, Maxwell agreed. Sure he was scary to everyone else, but he didn't want to be on Willow's brother's bad side.
"Let's go." Maxwell said as he grabbed her hand. Walking to the car, he opened the door for her.
Quietly thanking him, he quickly went to the driver seat and drove.
"You look beautiful." He said as he kissed the back of her hand.
"Thank you. Where are we going?" Willow asked as she blushed.
"It's a surprise. Trust me, you'll like it." He gave a reassuring smile as he held her hand. Her hand was small and his hand engulfed hers as it was twice the size of her hand.
"Are you hungry? I can order some food and we can eat while I drive." Maxwell said. It was 8 pm and he wanted to make sure Willow had food in her stomach.
"Can we get Wendy's?"
"Sure." He drove to the Wendy's drive thru, getting chicken nuggets, fries, and a peach lemonade for the both of them.
Maxwell and Willow ate and talked about their lives, getting to know each other better, while Maxwell was driving.
"Come on Willow, I want to show you something." Maxwell replied. He had the whole evening planned out for Willow and him.
"I'm coming, you walk so fast, I can barely keep up." Willow tried to say in between breaths. Even though she was 5'8, Maxwell was 6'3, so she had a hard time keeping up, he was taller than her by a few inches, but he still took long strides, or steps.
He had taken her to a part of the woods. There was a beautiful clear lake along with a waterfall in the center. The sun had already set, so the moon reflected on the clear water. The place looked as if it had come out of a fairytale.

"Woah, this is so-" Willow started, but was soon cut off. "-Beautiful." Maxwell said, completing her statement. However, he wasn't talking about the scenery, he was referring to the beautiful girl next to him. When Willow realized he was staring at her, she couldn't help, but blush.
"Why are we here Max?"
Max. A nickname that Willow seemed to give him by accident that just stuck. He was delighted and happy when she called him Max. It was simple and not cringeworthy nor was it extra. He found it cute.
"I thought you would like this place, and plus I wanted to spend time with you."
This made Willow blush even harder. No one had ever said that to her before, so it was all quite new.
"Come on, let's go for a swim." Maxwell said as he stripped from his clothes, only leaving his briefs on.
"But I didn't bring any extra clothes or a swimsuit." Willow said shyly, trying to look anywhere, but the gorgeous man in front of her, when she noticed that Maxwell was basically naked. "It's okay, you can wear my shirt, here, I'll turn around, and close my eyes."
Quickly getting undressed, and putting on the shirt Maxwell gave her, she was quite relieved that he stuck to his word, his eyes were covered the entire time, and his back was facing her.
"You can turn around now." Willow felt uncomfortable with his staring. She couldn't help, but overthink. Did she look bad? Was this making him uncomfortable?
"Wow. Willow I- Y-you look beautiful." Maxwell stumbled with his words, trying to get them out.
The girl standing in front of him looked adorable wearing his clothes.
"You should wear my clothes more often, I wouldn't mind." It was true. He wouldn't mind, not one bit. She could ask for anything, and he wouldn't even hesitate to give it to her. Hell, she could even ask for his whole closet, he wouldn't mind sharing with her, or better yet, seeing her in his clothes.
"Oh- I- T-thank you." If she didn't look like a tomato before, she sure as hell did now. Her cheeks were burning, and she felt it getting hot due to how flustered she was.
Maxwell found it amusing that he had such an affect on her, however, he knew she affected him much more than he affected her.

"Jump in, I'll catch you, I promise."
Without any hesitation, she jumped in. She trusted Maxwell to catch her. She knew he wouldn't purposely hurt her. If she fell, she knew he would be there to catch her.
Keeping to his words, he caught her, and held her by her waist as the water was just above their shoulders.
The pair swam for what felt like hours until Maxwell decided to sneak up on Willow.
Quietly swimming towards her, he grabbed her legs, and dragged her down. Willow let out a scream just before she was pulled.
Maxwell bursted out laughing. His eyes were starting to tear up. However, Willow didn't go back up.
Worried that she was drowning, he quickly dove down, and grabbed the girl. After he brought her back up, she pushed him back down into the water, laughing her ass off.
"Oh my gosh, you should've seen your face, you looked so scared." Willow said, trying to calm down her laughter. "Oh, you think that's funny?" Maxwell swam up to her, his arms wrapped around her waist, while her arms were on his shoulders.
Soon after, Willow's laughter died down, and the only sounds present were the sounds of their heavy breathing and the sounds of the waterfall, his eyes boring into hers.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Willow asked questionably.
"You don't see it, do you? You're oblivious Willow. Can't you see how much I like you? You're all I think about. It's like no matter how hard I try, you're always on my mind. I know you don't deserve someone like me, but I'm too selfish to let you go. You're mine Willow. You've been mine since the day I laid eyes on you."
Willow didn't know what to say. Her mind was telling her to run and never look back, while her heart told her to take a leap of faith. So that's what she did. She took a leap of faith and crashed her lips onto his.
Maxwell was shocked, nonetheless he was relieved. He immediately kissed her back. It went on for a few minutes until Maxwell pulled away. "I know I haven't been the best to you. I've been mean-" Before he could continue, Willow put her lips back onto his, but it was more of a peck.
"It's okay." Willow said, she wasn't upset, she knew he had his reasons. "No it wasn't baby, I shouldn't have treated you that way. I promise I'll treat you the way you deserve to be treated, if you give me a chance. Let me prove to you that I am worthy of your time. Give me a chance, please?"
Her cheeks reddened when she realized that he called her baby. "Okay, I'll give you a chance."
"Thank you, thank you so much." Maxwell said in between kisses. "I promise you won't regret it."
It was odd to see Maxwell so kind and sweet, it wasn't like his nature to be the way he was with Willow, but he meant every word he said.
"Are you busy Wednesday? Go out with me." Maxwell said out of the blue.
"I- What?" She was caught off guard. Aren't they already on a date? She thought.
She found herself a man that plans ahead.
"Let me take you out on a proper date. I'll pick you up on Wednesday after school."
"Okay. I'll go on a date with you." Willow was happy, her cheeks were starting to hurt from how big her smile was, she even had to bit her lip to prevent her smile from getting any bigger.
Maxwell had a smile on his face as well. He brought his thumb to her lips and stopped her from biting it.
By the time they got out of the water, it was almost 2 am.
"Thank you for this evening, I had fun." Willow said with a smile on her face.
"It's nothing Willow. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you, all you have to do is ask. Thank you for giving me a chance. I promise you, you won't have any second thoughts about it." He said while placing a kiss on her forehead.
"Come on, let's take you home." Home. Something his house never felt like. It only felt like home when Willow was in his arms. Willow was his home.
Maxwell knew that he was falling for Willow, and he was falling fast. He knew that one day, Willow would have his heart, and he didn't mind. Although they barely knew each other, Willow could gladly take his heart, and he wouldn't object. In fact, he wouldn't want it back. His heart was hers, and hers only.
