Cato raised his eyebrows. "Okay then."
Glimmer grinned. "Gonna betray your little girlfriend are you there?"
"What?" Clove asked.
"Didn't you hear his interview?" Marvel smirked. "He confessed to be in love with her."
"Oh." Was all Clove managed to say.
Cato sighed and started looking at the others.
Glimmer got Peeta some bandages.
"I say we find others near us and kill them." Clove suggested, then added "And I want you," Clove looked at Peeta "to see if Katniss is nearby. I don't think that any of us here particularly like her, and we would like her out as soon as possible. Agreed?"
"Agreed." Cato nodded and picked up some more gear.
The others began to nod. Clove motioned towards Marina. "Would you be ok with staying and protecting the stuff?" She asked.
"Okay." Marina nodded and sat down, grabbing an apple and biting into it.
Cato looked at Clove. "Let's go then."
Clove grabbed a belt and put it on, finding extra throwing knives and putting them in her belt. Glimmer, who Clove had never seen use any weapon successfully, picked up a silver bow. Marvel already seemed equipped spears and Peeta grabbed a knife.
"We'll be back before morning." Clove told Mariana, even though it could only be late afternoon. She was pretty sure Katniss was a fast runner.
Marina nodded her head and Clove looked at Peeta. "Lead the way, Lover Boy."
* * *
Cato smirked and followed Peeta.
Clove and the other careers trailed after Cato and Peeta, scanning the surrounds for tributes as they walked into the woods section.
Cato kept his eyes and ears peeled for any movement.
"How do you know she went this way?" Glimmer asked Peeta.

"She loves the trees." Peeta answered simply. Silence resumed.
Cato frowned slightly, he found a snare and knelt down.
Clove looked down at Cato. "What is that?" She asked. The group stopped to look. It had started to get dark.
"It's a snare." Cato said, standing back up and looking around.
Peeta seemed interested as soon as the word 'snare' was mentioned.
"Katniss make snares?" Clove asked.
Cato continued walking, following a few footprints.
"Yeah." Peeta answered.
Katniss had to be nearby if it was hers. Clove looked up at the horizon and saw smoke. She followed it's line down and saw it's source.
Clove grinned. "I smell smoke."
"Perfect." Cato smirked and headed in the direction of the fire.
Clove followed Cato and the rest of the group followed her. Soon the person nursing the fire came into sight. It was the girl from district eight.
* * *
Cato smirked at the sight of the girl, twirling his sword in his hand.
Clove grinned. It wasn't Katniss, but Clove still liked the thought of her dying. She was a fool to light a fire. It was cold, but she was a fool.
"Who gets to kill her?" She asked.
Cato looked at Peeta. "Lets see if he's got guts to do so."
"I've never killed anyone before. Could you give me a demo maybe? I'll kill the next one." Peeta replied, he seemed relatively unfazed by the prospect of killing her though.
"Ugh. Fine." Cato snapped and stabbed the girl. Her scream echoed.
Clove grinned. "Let's go find Katniss."
The group moved on, following Peeta's lead.
"Where's the cannon?" Glimmer asked.
"It'll come soon." Cato told them and wiped the blood off his sword onto Peeta's shirt.

Peeta looked back at Cato and waited a few seconds, raising an eyebrow.
"Seems you're not the pro I thought you were." He turned on a flashlight. "Shouldn't we have heard the cannon by now?" He asked.
"I'd say yes. Nothing to prevent them from going off immediately." Marvel replied.
"Unless she isn't dead." Glimmer suggested.
"She's dead. I stuck her myself." Cato snapped, there was a slight sound of leaves shaking but he didnt take much notice of it.
"Then where's the cannon?" Marvel asked.
"Someone should go back. Make sure the job's done." Glimmer said.
"Yeah, we don't want to have to track her down twice." Peeta said with a smirk. Clove was trying to stay out of the argument.
"I said she's dead!" Cato argued. The group turned into chaos.
"We're wasting time!" Peeta yelled. "I'll go finish her and let's move on!"

8 135Living as a Demon
Jonathan was living the life of a normal human male in modern-day society, until he was rudely awakened one night by a summoning circle that ripped him out of his reality and dumped him into a new world filled with magic, demons, and…mouthy young orphan girls?! Now Jonathan must navigate the trials of playing guardian to a preteen, learning to unlock his inner demon, and somehow managing to find a dang pair of pants! Welcome! I'm E.O. Tenkey; thank you for considering Living as a Demon, my third released work here on Royal Road (following Not a Manga and Mr. Familiar)! Let's set some expectations, shall we? • Not much hard profanity (chapter 1 is the exception!)• Human MC! Our protagonist is a bona fide homo sapiens. Which is not to say there won't be demons, demonic powers, and what-have-you, but this isn't some grimdark exploration of the life and times of a nihilistic, amoral killing machine.• Slice of life. My previous works always ended up there, so might as well get ahead of the curve!• Weekly updates, and a completed story: I will post a single chapter per week on Wednesdays until the story is complete (extra chapters are rare, but do happen).
