《My Blind Princess》Chapter 23

Samael watched as his beloved laid in the hospital bed. Her eyes were closed, and she looked peaceful. Sam was hurting, but he couldn't muster up the courage to move from Eva's side.
Nurses came into the room and helped him as much as they could.
Samael refused to be injected with anything that would make him drowsy. He had an eerie sensation and felt that if he were to leave Eva's side for just a moment, something terrible would happen to her.
As the days passed, Eva made no sign of waking up. The more time she spent sleeping, the more the Prince's health deteriorated. It wasn't until a week later when Eva finally opened her eyes.
Samael clenched onto her hand as he softly snored. Sleep had caught up with him, and he finally had to get some rest. Eva gently moved her head from side to side. She was now awake, but she was still in the familiar darkness.
"Sam?" Eva called out gently.
The soft whisper of his name jolted the sleeping vampire from his nap.
"I'm here, baby." Sam quickly replied as he gently squeezed her hand.
"Where am I?" Eva questioned as her senses started getting flooded by new smells and sounds.
Her brain didn't have time to process the information, and she was getting a headache.
"The Pack Hospital." Sam smiled as he placed a soft kiss on Eva's forehead.
"We won," Samael chuckled as he gave Eva a small peck on the lips.
One, she gladly returned.
"Is everyone okay? Where is my family?"
Eva slowly started to rise from her laying position only to be greeted by a massive headache.
"My head," Eva frowned as her hand made its way to her forehead.
"I'll call a doctor," Sam said as he quickly got up from his seat and pushed the emergency button in the hospital room. After a couple of seconds, nurses walk into the room in a hurry.

"Eva? Are you okay? When did you wake up?" The nurses start to ask Eva as she sits up with the help of Samael.
"I'm okay, I have a horrible headache," Eva grumbles as she softly rubs her forehead.
"Okay, I'll go ahead and bring you something for the pain. Other than your headache, do you feel bad nowhere else?" A nurse questions as she examines Eva.
"No, just my headache." Eva sighs out as she feels around her bed for Sam's hand.
"Okay, we'll go get you something for that and notify the Doctor that you have woken up."
The nurses leave, and Samael smiles as he grabs onto Eva's hand.He places soft kisses on her hand and smiles to himself, knowing his beloved is fine and awake.
| 2 Weeks later |
"Welcome Home!" Misty yelled as she smiled at her daughter.
Eva walked into the packhouse hand in hand with the Prince. A smile plastered on her face as she was engulfed in hugs from her family and friends.
"We are so glad you are okay!" Alana squealed.
"What is going to happen now that the Werewolf king is gone?" Eva questioned once everyone stopped hugging.
Beta Stone sighed as the celebration was short-lived, and his daughter was in beta mode. Misty and Amelie smiled and decided to leave the room. Now that Eva was on task, no one was going to sway her. She was on a mission. Alana and Calvin sat down on a couch and watched how everyone dispersed after Eva's question.
"We originally planned to ask Alpha Voin to take over, but he refused. Ever since he found out his mate was Alpha Knight, he doesn't want the extra responsibility. He simply wants to rule over both packs. Although Alpha Knight is giving him hell." Alpha Vasiliev chuckled.

"Alpha Knight would rather die than have her pack be ruled by someone else, Even if that someone else is her mate." Beta stone spoke as he guided Eva to sit on the couch next to Alana.
"What will happen now?" Eva questioned as Samael sat down next to Alana and pulled Eva onto his lap.
Samael snuggled his face into Eva's neck and smiled to himself. He was genuinely happy. He wasn't the least bit interested in the conversation. He was just delighted Eva was in his arms.
"Well, if Alpha Voin won't take the position, we will need to form some kind of government." Alpha Vasiliev spoke as he sat on the opposing couch and watched how Eva was in a challenging conversation with everyone while her Beloved cuddled her like a child.
"Oh, how the mighty have fallen," Alpha Vasiliev chuckled as he glanced at the Prince. Prince Samael wasn't even fazed by the comment. He didn't even pull his attention away from Eva.
"What about starting a council? We could recruit the strongest Alphas and form a council." Alana spoke as she looked at her father.
Calvin, who stood behind Alana, simply nodded his head in agreement.
"That wouldn't be a bad idea. We were also thinking of doing something like that for the Vampires," Calvin spoke up.
Beta Stone looked at his Alpha and best friend. What Alana suggested was actually a brilliant idea. The Alpha's could govern their packs with ease, and if anyone ever crossed the line, the council could make the final decision. Nothing was left to a single person, and no one would have more power than anyone else.
"The only problem would be that there is an even number of Packs as of right now."
"We could always create one, or one could be absorbed by another. Either way, it is something we should look into in the future." Alpha Vasiliev commented.
"We could also form a treaty with the Vampires. Both species could benefit from this"
Eva softly yawned as she took in a deep breath. Her body was beginning to get tired. Before she could say anything, Samael lifted her in his arms and interrupted everyone's conversation.
"It seems my beloved's body is not fully 100 percent yet, please excuse us," Samael spoke in a regal tone.
Alpha Vasiliev desperately tried not to laugh as he watched the Prince.A couple of minutes ago, Prince Samael was cuddling into Eva like a newborn pup. Now he acted as if he would never do anything that would challenge his royal aura—a complete 180.
"Of course," Beta Stone spoke out as he held the door open for Samael.
Luckily for Alexandrov, Beta Stone was in work mode and was not about to burst into a fit of laughter. Beta Stone was still a professional.
Alexandrov cleared his throat to rid himself of the giggles and decided this meeting could always be done at another time. Right now, in all honesty, he missed his mate.
"Let's regain tomorrow and discuss this further. I think we all need to rest for tonight."

Galactic Economics
Humanity enters the galaxy and makes First Contact, only to begin to realize that not everything is at it seems. It appears that the galactic alien community has forgotten to invent some rather important economic concepts that human civilization has taken for granted. This is a look at a hypothetical galactic scale barter economy, how that would work, or how as one of our main characters Sarah realizes... it doesn't. And as the galaxy falls apart at the seams, it's up to the best and brightest in humanity to put things back together. Story contains a lot about markets, logistics, development, and the best and worst of human history. Not so much Space Marines nuking aliens. If you enjoyed the trade negotiations and Senate politics in the Star Wars prequels, and wished that there was an entire standalone story consisting solely of those parts, this might be for you! Galactic Economics is also posted on reddit here.

Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves.
