《Conversations with a ghost (Ghostface x reader)》Chapter 18

Today you were sitting in the small coffee shop
You were exhausted, you barely got any sleep at night, so now here you were chugging down two cups of coffee
Often nights Jed would come over at night to check on you and to try and help you sleep, you thought it was cute that he cared that much about you
Thoughts of what you two were found themselves in your head whenever he would hold you in his arms at night
It was like you two weren't dating but you were in a way, more like you two haven't said anything about it but you both know you are together
When he missed a few nights to do God knows what, you missed his touch, the way he would tell you about his day as if you guys didn't spend it together in the office
You laughed slightly at the thought and looked out of the coffee shop window, it was cold out, and today everyone seemed gloomy
Taking a look around you could tell there was barely anyone in the shop today, in all honesty, you knew why everyone was gloomy today
The murders, with two killers now on the loose and murders appearing on every street, it was hard to be happy and not shaken by fear of being the next person to die
"Y/n?"
You glanced to where you heard your name confused, soon you spot Ryan, he was standing a few inches away from the small table you were sitting at holding a small cup of coffee in his hand
"Hey Ryan," you say and wave at him
"Hey um could I," he said and pointed to the seat right in front of you
"Yeah sure"
"Thanks"
As he was taking his seat you wondered where Jed was at this time, he didn't text you today and you didn't see him at the office neither
"Maybe he's just busy," you thought and brushed away any thought you had before
"You know I've never seen the shop this empty before" Ryan starts
"Yeah it usually isn't this empty, wait do you come here often?"
"Yup I think they have the best coffee and its close to my house, oh and work of course" Ryan explains, taking a sip of his coffee

"You live around here?" You say
"Yeah, you?"
"Yes actually"
"Ah then you know what I mean when I say it's convenient"
You laughed at his comment, he was right though it is very convenient to live near a coffee shop and have it right where you work as well
"You know lately, all my diet has been consisting of is coffee, which is probably really bad," Ryan says and lets out a small laugh
"You'll learn to get used to it," you laugh and take a look out the window again
"Hey didn't you have a partner where is he?"
Ryan says and looks at you
"Oh yeah Jed, I haven't seen him today," you say and give a slightly worried expression
"Oh well, I hope everything is okay, with the murders going on everyone is slightly fearful, maybe he just needs a break or something," Ryan says
"Oh yeah, maybe, hey don't you write the reports on that new killer?"
Ryan face lit up for a few seconds until he finally responded
"Yes, you remembered!" he says and cracks a smile
"How could I forget, anything interesting happen?" You say and look at him very interested in the topic
He looks away for a moment
"Well no but, they seem to have a pattern, and they also seem to be killing a lot more than Ghostface recently," Ryan said
"A pattern? Like what?" you ask
"They usually stalk their victims on the street and recently they've only been going for women," he says and gives a sad look
"Well that's unfortunate, anything else?" you ask him
You were interested in this new killer but something Ryan just said reminded you of something but you couldn't quite remember what it was
"Unfortunately no" Ryan says and takes another sip of his coffee
"Oh"
"Ding"
"Ding"
"Ding"
"You should probably get that" Ryan says and laughs as your phone proceeds to go off
"Jeez," you say and pull out your phone checking your messages
As you were checking your phone Ryan got up to get another drink soon returning with another cup of coffee in his hand

"I think I might have to go in a bit" Ryan spoke, his eyes glancing outside the window as he sat down
"Oh okay I might have to as well," you said and smiled, you felt as if something was off, Ryan seemed a bit different now
His tone had changed and you couldn't quite tell what he was feeling or thinking, he reminded you of Jed a lot to
From the way he dressed, to his seemingly always changing personality
One moment Jed would be sweet and caring and the next he would be cold and distant and you couldn't tell what he was feeling
Ryan was the same
You didn't know if you should feel comforted by it or not
"Y/n?"
"Hm oh sorry zoned out for a bit"
"It's okay," Ryan says a laughs giving you smile
There it is again, that change in character
"Maybe I'm just being weird," you thought and smiled back at him
"I don't mean to pry but you said you lived around here right?" Ryan asked tilting his head at you
"Ah yes I do, don't you as well?" You said
"Yes, hey I just wanted to tell you to be careful at night around here, last night I felt as if someone was watching me"
"Really?" You asked, your fear was creeping back up to you
Now that your thinking about it you haven't seen Ghostface, well Danny ever since that night you went out with Jed
Something told you it was probably him who was stalking all these people but you couldn't be too sure of it
You haven't seen him, you don't even know if he'll still even spare you
Danny's another person who had that same personality trait as Ryan and Jed
"Yeah, it's probably just me though," Ryan said and gave a small laugh as he rubbed the back of his neck
"No actually, my friend said the same thing recently," you told him
"Ding"
"Shit that's me, sorry Y/n but I need to go, oh could I get your number too just to keep you updated on that new killer?" Ryan said in a rushed tone, standing up from his seat
"Yeah sure," you said and he handed you his phone
Quickly putting your number in and making your contact you gave it back to him
"Thanks, Y/n, see ya" he said and rushed out of the shop
You sighed and got up deciding that you might as well go back to work, you were finished with everything you needed to do
You and Jed had got that new report of Ghostface out, that's another thing that made you doubt that if Danny ever came back to see you again
He would probably kill you
You didn't know why you haven't told or even called the police about him meeting with you sometimes
Maybe it was his threats, you knew he would go through with them considering he's crazy enough to kill and leave his initials craved into your stomach
You didn't know what was stopping you and it made you feel sick
Danny had caused you so much pain, but you couldn't tell the fucking police about him?
"Pathetic," you thought
But you couldn't forget the way you wanted him to stay for a little longer that night when he left you
He was actually being nice to you and you were so blinded by it in the moment
Maybe that was another reason why you couldn't tell anyone about him
"Stop Y/n, Stop feeling bad for a cold-blooded fucking killer," you thought, walking down the street
You don't know how you got here, your body was just on auto pilot while you thought about whatever popped up in your mind
Quickly trying to compose yourself you took a deep breath in and out
This isn't about Danny or Ryan or anything else, this was about Jed you needed to check if he was at the gazette yet
You couldn't lie, you were worried, he didn't text you and he didn't even show up to work today not when you were there at least
You missed him and you couldn't help but think the worst
"Please be there"
"Please be safe"

This is a story of Shiro, a 12 year old girl who wished to adventure around the world. Only to end up in an untimely death. When she wakes up, she finds herself in what seems to be a new world, and her body has changed to that of a catkin. Using her knowledge from knowing literature of people in similar situations and adventuring, she tries to make a place for herself in this new world. Only to find out that reality is far crueler than one would imagine. Even with what one would call an OP unique skill and other OP advantages, she finds things quickly fall apart regardless how hard she tries. Thus she seeks more and more power to not only survive, but to protect what is important to her. Unbeknownst to her though, lies within her an ancient power time primordial. A power so vast it can bring anything to its knees. This ancient power can easily be unlocked with just one sentence, but this sentence shall never be spoken. Instead, Shiro will embark on a new path to gaining a new different kind of power as she moves forward in this new world. WARNING: The first few volumes will have tragedy, which will disappear at around Volume 5 or 6. From then on it will be just pure OP-ness and having fun. While I personally like OP characters and don’t like tragedies myself, I think it is unrealistic that a person goes to an unknown and everything just magically go their way via plot armor. So I wanted to build up a more realistic OP reincarnation novel where MC struggles through a new world regardless of their advantages due to gaps in knowledge (despite how prepared she was) and simply not having enough strength at the time. ------------------------------------------- This is my first poor attempt at a story. I read a lot of novels overall and was in the mood to see how well I can write one. Expect a lot of mistakes here and there as I am pretty new to writing. Releases should be about 2 times a week(changed due to chapter size pretty much doubling) unless stated otherwise or inbetween volumes. I will at least commit to finishing the volume I am on (Nothing worse than a story being cut off mid story). So give me your comments what you think. I don't mind if the comments are bad and etc. Just lay off the grammar nazi (My only weakness)
