《Brother of Wind {Book 8: the Sons of Garmadon}》chapter 4

Cole gripped the egde. The cold of the stone faded after all this time.
"Hello there."
Cole saw an old man at the top. A full tea set with him.
"How did you—Who are you?" Cole asked.
"Maybe that is a question for me to ask. But first, why do you climb the mountain?" The old man asked.
"I... just lost... someone." Cole said. "My father should be sad, or angry, but he's just, he's--..."
"Yes?"
"He spends all his time with this group singing and dancing. He's never home, leaving all the chores for me. With her gone, I guess it's up to me to be the responsible one." Cole gazed to the bottom of the mountain, covered with clouds.
"He acts like nothing's happened. How can he sing and dance at a time like this?" He faced the old man again.
"Grief takes many shapes and forms. Some sing and dance, some climb mountains." The man took a sip of his tea.
"Why did you climb the mountain?" Cole asked.
Wu raised his Kasa.
"To find you, Cole."
. . .
Cole reached the highest spire.
"And I'll find you." He said as he reached the top. And at the top... The sky itself.
"Morro." Cole said.
"What are you doing here?" He asked. Morro seemed to get lost in the clouds. He turned away. Cole sighed.
"I see. The same as me." Cole said. He sat down on the opposite end of Morro.
"I hate this feeling." Cole said.
"Especially when it seems like people don't care anymore. It hurts." He gazed to the bottom of the palace.
"I can't stand it. But it will happen eventually." Cole sighed.
"Than then there's--" he turned towards Morro.
"Memories."
Morro slowly gazed at the clouds. He was crying. Cole panicked. Morro quickly wiped his eyes.
"I can't figure it out." He said.
"The memories push you forwards." Morro shifted his hand against the green cloth on his left hand.
"But they give you grief when you remember." He narrowed his eyes.
"But it's not the first time." Morro turned back.
"It, won't hurt as much, one day." He smiled. But of sorrow. Cole sighed. The look he gave seemed to agree.
Morro shifted his gaze downwards. He smile faded and turned serious. Morro wiped his eyes once more. Cole turned to where Morro looked.
"Hutchins." Cole said. Morro glanced at Cole and nodded towards the ground. The two pulled up their hoods. They jumped to the lower edge, Morro giving them a soft landing.
Hutchins looked around. He pressed on a large boulder. It moved aside. A secret passageway.
The two Ninja jumped to the ground, a slight breeze slowing their fall. They gazed down into the dark secret passage. And in they went.
Hutchins slowly disappeared down the stone halls as Morro and Cole attempted to not get spotted. There were three passages ahead.
"Split up?" Cole asked.
"No. We'll need two people in order to get real proof. We stay together." Morro said. Cole nodded. He noticed a strange light down the left most hall. They went that way.
The light was yellow. And bubbling. Multiple beakers hung from the top of the hall.
"Blast Sap!" Cole exclaimed.
"Guys, we've got a big problem." Cole said. The bubbles in the vials got larger. The two started to back up.
"Blast sap! There's blast-- sap!"

Lloyd wiped his eyes. He threw on his hood.
"Cole?" Lloyd asked.
"We saw--"
"You're not coming in. You have a bad signal." Lloyd said.
"We gotta get everyone out of here. The whole palace is rigged to explode. It was Hutchins!" Cole yelled, jumping into a sprint.
"What?" I still can't hear you!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"GET EVERYONE TO SAFETY!" Morro yelled.
Lloyd felt a ring in his head.
"No." His eyes widened.
"We have to get the Royal Family out of here!" Kai yelled, him and Nya running up the steps. Too late. It exploded, pushing the siblings back.
Then another bang. The front gate. In came the Sons of Garmadon riding up.
"What a beautiful night for a little mayhem. Hahaha!" The main one, a purple colour scheme with her, yelled. She sped around Kai, picking him up by the collar.
"I didn't even get your--" Kai was thrown.
"Name."
"Let's leave the boys out of this. Hm?" Nya grabbed her spear and extended it fully. She made one with Morro's weapon why shouldn't she have her own? The enemy drove around, creating dust to cloud Nya's vision and kicking her back by her brother. The one Lloyd chased at the start drove straight into the palace, others not far behind.
. . .
Lloyd ran up and kicked one of the lesser members off his bike. He saw Hutchins run up behind him.
"You did this!" Lloyd grabbed the guard
"You helped them!" He yelled.
"I had nothing to do with this." Hutchins said.
"Cole said he saw you in the tunnels. With the explosives!" Lloyd pushed Hutchins against a pillar.
"Whatever your friend saw, it wasn't me." Hutchins replied. A gust of wind extinguished the flames. Morro pushed Lloyd's hand down and grabbed Hutchins' robes.
"Where were you headed?" Morro narrowed his eyes. That tone was deadly.
"To the palace." Hutchins replied.
"Though a secret passage?" Morro asked.
"I needed to reach a vault." Hutchins replied.
"And you knew what was on the left?"
"....."
Morro took out his staff and held it to Hutchins' throat, the wind blowing behind the Ninja.
"GIVE ME AN ASNWER!" Morro yelled.
"I did not know! I have served this house for the better part of my life, and have sworn to protect the Royal Family." Hutchins replied. Lloyd pulled Morro's shoulder back.
"Watch out!" Hutchins pushed the brothers back. A sai flew into the pillar where we previously were.
"You saved us." Lloyd said. The group looked back at Ultra Violet, riding furiously down the corridors. Lloyd kept her busy while Morro pushed Hutchins back.
"Does anyone have eyes on the Princess?!" Hutchins asked.
"I'm on it." Morro ran off.
He ran down to the flaming quarters of Harumi. Morro found her coughing underneath burning rubble. He kicked it off and used his wind to douse the smaller flames.
"Let's go. Now." Morro said.
"But we can't leave this place!" Harumi said.
"Being trapped under your home as it goes up in flames? It's not fun. Trust me." Morro grabbed Harumi up and took her hand, running out if the room. Harumi sighed.
Lloyd was able to tackle Ultra Violet off her bike. She grabbed her sai from the pillar and faced Hutchins. Zane has made it just in time to use his spinjitzu and freeze the mad woman up. Morro then ran up, Harumi with him, working with Zane, they cleared a path through the fire.

"You're okay." Lloyd said.
"But what about the mask?" Harumi asked
. . .
The masked red rider jumped off in front of the chamber with the mask.
"Whoever you are, you should have brought more help." Jay said, standing in front of the display. Cole jumped into the scene.
"Hands in the air!" Kai yelled, running forwards with Nya. They surrounded the rider. He tool out a red Oni mask.
"The Oni Mask of Vengeance!" Jay exclaimed. The rider, Mr. E placed the mask on, gaining a surge of power and extra arms.
"Really? Four arms? Pfft. Like that's new." Jay scoffed. Him, Kai and Cole all got in his way.
Mr. E was able to push Kai back, kick Jay down, avoid an attack from Nya and fend off three attacks at once. Cole struck the ground, but Mr. E balanced off the shockwave.
Nya summoned her water and Kai sparked up with some nearby flames. Nya pushed E back but Kai's fire was hot enough to evaporate the water.
"Ugh." Kai said.
"Can't any one of us stop him?" Jay asked, shocking lighting at Mr. E's four swords. E broke the glass and grabbed the mask. Kai stole the fire from down the hall and threw it at E. The mask went up in flames.
"Uh, I think my brother just destroyed the Mask of Deception." Nya said into her comm.
"What?" Lloyd asked.
"That one was a fake. I procured the real one from the vaults below." Hutchins pulled out the real mask.
"A fake?" Harumi asked.
"Forgive me, your Highness, it is the Mask if Deception. I wasn't sure if I could trust the ninja. But I do now." Hutchins revealed a secret passage in the throne room.
"Take it. And get the Princess out of here!" He gave the mask to Lloyd.
"But what about my parents?" Harumi asked.
"I'll find them." Hutchins replied.
"I'll go with you." Morro said.
"No." Hutchins held him back.
"You protect the princess. With your life." Hutchins said. Morro narrowed his gaze. Harumi tugged on his gi. Morro grabbed the cloth around his right arm and motioned for Harumi to go into the passage.
"I was wrong about you." Lloyd said before he gave a sorrowful smile and rushed off into the passage.
Morro lead the run outside, the three witnessing the chaos in the courtyard. Another explosion came from the palace. Lloyd stepped back as a biker rode towards him. The Green Ninja stole the bike from the rider and jumped on.
"Get on!" Harumi said.
"And Morro?" She asked. Morro pulled out his staff.
"Right behind." Morro nodded. Lloyd sped off, Morro took flight.
Uv had thawed and drove after the trio in green.
'The docs, right?'
Lloyd looked to his left to Morro.
'Where else?'
Morro nodded in response.
"They're right behind us!" Harumi said as they crossed the bridges.
"Hold on." Lloyd said he swerved between the traffic. Morro jumped to the ground and turned towards the bikers on their trail. It was a great distance between them and civilians. Morro hit his staff to the ground, sending a wave of wind forwards, knocking off all riders except Ultra Violet who sped past. Morro watched her leave. He grinned.
Lloyd passed by a truck. He turned off his head lights and passed in front of another truck and watched UV speed by as he slowed down. Lloyd signaled to the truck driver and he signaled back. Lloyd then turned onto a lower path and looked up, seeing Morro. They nodded.
"No!" Ultra Violet yelled from a higher road.
"Ha! Lost 'em." Lloyd snickered. No he didn't. UV jumped onto the lower road in front of them.
"Her again?" Lloyd could hardly believe it. UV pulled out a sai. Lloyd drew his sword.
"Keep your head down." Lloyd said. Harumi ducked.
Lloyd clashed with the normally defensive weapon. Harumi looked down and gasped. The mask had fallen to the street. Harumi reached down to get it.
Ultra Violet had gotten possession of the mask.
"Oh, yeah!"
"We have to get it!" Harumi exclaimed.
"We have to get out of here." Lloyd said, more Sons of Garmadon rode up. Lloyd made the turn. He reached the docs.
He reached the water and the wood above it.
"It's a dead end!" Harumi pointed.
"But we're not dead yet!" Lloyd exclaimed. They jumped onto a ship, covered in cloths
"This way, Princess." Lloyd said as he landed on the bike. They rushed up to the bridge.
"Good. You're not dead yet." Morro said as he was already there, working away on some computer.
"What are you thinking?" Harumi asked.
"We can't get away from them in this thing."
"Hey, now. This thing still has a few surprises in her." Lloyd said, pulling down a sheet.
"You two! They're not gonna just let us sail away." Harumi exclaimed.
'The central panel is offline.'
Morro pointed.
'Not for long.'
Lloyd grinned. He clicked a few buttons.
The light grew but faded. Lloyd got irritated. He kicked it. It lit up. Morro looked back.
"Oh that works." He said.
"Who said anything about sail?" Lloyd asked, rushing around the bridge with Morro. More lights turned on. The sails raised and ship seemed to move. Smoke from an exhaust pipe blew. The cloths covering the ship ripped away. And up flew, the Destiny's Bounty.
"No!" Ultra Violet yelled, just beyond the reach. The ship flew higher into the skies.
"Whoa. I've never seen the city from this high before." Harumi said, gazing over the edge, Morro beside her.
"Your highness, welcome aboard the Destiny's Bounty." Lloyd smiled. The ship sputtered. Harumi grabbed ahold of Morro's arm to stay balanced. Morro did a double take before sighing.
. . .
The Morning arose. The other five Ninja climbed their way onto the roads. The gazed at the burned palace. Then the Destiny's Bounty approaching. They jumped on. The all looked ashamed.
"The Emperor and Empress?" Harumi asked.
"Where is Hutchins? Did they--"
"I'm sorry, Princess. They didn't make it." Nya sighed.
"What about the mask?" Kai asked. Lloyd shook his head.
"I promise you, we'll find the people responsible for this." Kai said.
"Once again, I am alone." Harumi said.
"No." Zane corrected.
"You never are. Even if it may feel that way." He gazed to Morro, sitting on the very edge of the ship.
"You're with us now. And we'll make sure to find out who is behind all this." Lloyd vowed.
"They are not going to get away."
