《Brother of Wind {Book 8: the Sons of Garmadon}》Chapter 5

The Ninja landed the Bounty in Hollow's Bluff to hide their location. The rocky and fogged up area covered them right up. Only for the time being.
"Is this where we'll be living?" Harumi asked. She followed Lloyd onto the deck.
"Just until we know you're safe." Lloyd said.
"Don't you have a headquarters?" The Princess asked.
"It's too in the open. The Sons of Garmadon will be looking for you. We'll need to keep moving." Lloyd explained. Lloyd held out his hand. Harumi took it. Lloyd smiled and lead her away. The two climbed their way up to the bridge where everyone else worked away.
'Not skilled enough?'
Morro shot a look to Lloyd.
'I'm more nervous than I look.'
Lloyd glared.
"So, Harumi, looks like we're gonna be...roomies for a while." Cole leaned on the rails. Harumi smiled.
"You have all been so gracious to take me in since our palace was...taken away, and--"
"You're safe with us." Jay interrupted. Her tone was getting sadder. Jay needed to cheer her up.
"That assumption is not entirely justified, Jay. We know very little about the Sons of Garmadon's full capabilities." Zane corrected.
"We know nothing about them. Period." Kai said.
"We do know they're after the three Oni Masks. Unfortunately, they already have two of them." Nya sighed.
"Pixal scanned everywhere for the third mask, but it came up empty." Zane added.
"It's as if...it never existed."
Morro tapped his pencil on a note pad and jotted something down.
"Right." Lloyd nodded.
"Then we need to focus on who's giving the orders. A group this organized must have a leader." He said.
"Maybe someone from our past?" Jay suggested.
"Uh, forgive me." Harumi interrupted.
"But is that...underwear?" She asked. Jay snatched up the blue boxers from the ground.
"Ahaha! Ha ha!... We're usually more organized. Ahem. But our leader got lost in a time-stream." Jay said.
"Uh, they're Cole's."
"They're blue!" Cole yelled.
"You're lucky they're not yellow." Kai laughed.
"What about the suspect captured at the heist in Borg Tower?" Nya moved it along.
"I can stay behind with Harumi if you wanna press him on who he works for." She said.
"The police have him in custody, but he has refused to talk. He is set for release today." Pixal informed on the computer screen.
"Then if Johnny Law can't get him to talk, perhaps Johnny ninja can?" Kai smirked.
Morro stood up on that note.
"I don't believe you playing detective will get much answers." He said.
"But someone else can help with that." Morro walked towards the deck, straight past Harumi as if she weren't there. Harumi almost reached her hand out to grab him but retracted. Nya saw and kinda smirked.
"Let's go." Morro turned back to the guys.
. . .
The Ninja, minus Kai and Nya, followed Morro to a tea shop in the city.
"Mystake's Tea Shop." Cole remarked.
"I wonder what magic tea she can brew up for us." He giggled.
"Is Mystake here?" Lloyd asked the old woman sorting the shelves.
"Never heard of her!" She exclaimed.
"Ooh! Apologies, young Lloyd Garmadon. I didn't recognize your voice." She said as she turned around. Mystake sighed with a smile.
"Oh, it's so good to see you again. It's been years." She said.
"And young Wind Master." She turned to Morro. His shoulders tensed.
"Still alive now?" Mystake asked. Morro looked down at himself then back up.
"Y-yes...?" He said.
"Good." Mystake smiled.
"And the search for your father, has it been well?" The tea maker asked.

"We haven't given up on him. We just have more urgent problems." Cole said. Zane stepped forwards.
"We seek--"
"The Tea of Truth!" Mystake exclaimed.
"She's good." Zane said.
"But be forewarned...the truth can be...dangerous." Mystake said.
"She's also creepy." Jay whispered.
"Oh! By the way, you brothers. How as that wisteria been acting for you?" She turned back to Lloyd and Morro. They exchanged glances. Mystake pinched Lloyd's cheek.
"Ow!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"Ng--" Morro flinched.
"Ah good. Still strong. You better not get into a big fight. It would be unbeneficial to the other." Mystake said while looking more to Morro. He shrugged.
"I'll have a look in the back to see if I have any truth. But don't...touch...any...thing." Mystake glared before disappearing behind beaded curtains.
"Like I said. Cree-pee." Jay whispered to Cole. Mystake's silhouette moved behind the drapes. Jay reached for a jar. Cole slapped his hand down. The tea maker pulled the beads out of her way. A strange picture was in the room behind her.
"Mystake, wait! That painting..." Lloyd pointed.
"Hm? Ah, yes. The Oni and the Dragon. But you are not ready for that tale." She placed down a jar of the Tea of Truth.
"Please. We need to know." Lloyd said.
"It is a long tale. Do you have the time?" Mystake asked.
"We only had time for a quick stop." Zane said.
"Cole and Zane, go to the police with the Tea of Truth and find out who's giving the orders." Lloyd said.
"The rest of us will stay to figure out more." Morro finished. Zane took the tea and followed behind him as Cole.
"Come, my childs. To know the tale, you must drink the tea." Mystake said. Lloyd entered first. Jay cowered a bit behind Morro as he went forwards.
. . .
Cole and Zane made it to the police station. Two officers dragged a handcuffed man into the room where they were.
"Ugh! I'm innocent!" The man shouted.
"Tell it to the judge." One officer said.
"I am the judge!"
"This cup contains the Tea of Truth, this other one is for you." Zane handed the tea to Cole's left hand.
"Ha! Nothing like a good old-fashioned detective work." Cole said.
"Out of my way, coppers!" The man shouted, rushing past Cole.
"Stop him!" The police shouted. The man brushed past Cole, making his spin and throw up the cups. Cole panicked but was able to catch the cups. By they have been switched around. Zane stomped on the ground, covering the path with ice, making the man slip.
"Oh, oh, oh, aah! That didn't go the way I pictured." He said.
"Haha! I didn't even spill a drop!" Cole exclaimed.
"Are you ready?" Zane asked, approaching the suspect's door.
"Uh, of course. Uh." Cole looked at the cups. He switched them. He smiled and they went in.
"Who turned off the heat?" The man inside asked. Zane opened the door.
"Ninja. Hmph. What do you two want?" He glares at the two.
"Luke Cunningham." Zane said.
"Otherwise known as the Man in the White Mask." Cole said. Luke scowled.
"We would like some information regarding who you work for, Luke." Zane walked towards the table Luke was chained to.
"Well, I'd like a pepperoni pizza and some chocolate ice cream but it ain't gonna happen." Luke retorted.
"We don't have that, but we do have a cup of hot tea that could warm you up. Cole placed the cup in his right hand down.

"I ain't thirsty." Luke said.
Cole took a sip from his cup.
"Mm-mm. It really warms me up. Sometimes a cup of hot tea just hits the spot. Mm." Cole smiled as he pushed the other cup to Luke.
"Like I said, I ain't talkin'." Luke said.
"Drink it!" Cole slammed his hands on the table.
"No!" Luke did the same.
"Oh, don't you get it? If you don't drink the Tea of Truth, we won't get answers!" Cole shouted.
"Oh..."
"You trying to trick me?" Luke sat up.
"Cole, I think you drank the wrong cup." Zane whispered to his ally.
"I see that now. But in full disclosure, I'm trying my best to look like I didn't." Cole handed Zane the cup. Luke and Cole stared at each other. Zane glanced between them.
"Aw, it's not working, isn't it?" Cole asked.
"Ha! So you can't lie, huh? Oh! You pee in the swimming pool? Luke asked.
"Of course!" Cole exclaimed.
"Who doesn't--" He threw his hands over his mouth.
"Heh! Where are you hiding the Princess?"
"Oh, the Destiny's Bounty in a cove of Hollow's Bluff--" Cole covered his mouth again.
"But tomorrow we'll be at the Village of Stiix." And again.
"You're giving away our secrets!" Zane exclaimed.
"I can't lie!"
"What sort of power does the Green Ninja have?"
"It's some kind of energy, or green light. I dunno, like, all our Elemental Powers rolled into one. Who can say?" Cole waved his hand in the air.
"What'd the Wind Ninja's weakness?"
"Uh, his wrists mostly, but to catch him off guard you really have to take the green cloth or mention the Stiix incident with the Preeminent." Cole said.
"Zane! Knock me out! Do something!" Cole yelled.
Luke laughed.
"Wait till the gang at Laughy's hears about this." He kept on laughing.
"Laughy's? You mean the karaoke club on the south side?" Zane placed the cup onto the table.
"Oh..." Luke stopped.
"Haha! Who's the sucker now?" Cole pointed.
"Good thing I didn't tell him about my fear of singing." Cole accidentally blurted out.
"Oh, Zane, can we please get out of here?" He pulled on Zane's arm. The Nindroid sighed and followed Cole's pull out of the room.
. . .
Mystake poured a cup for everyone in the room.
"Aah! Thank you for the tea." Jay smiled.
"You were right, it really calmed my nerves. I feel so..." He tool another sip.
"...warm and fuzzy."
"Good. Then the Tea of Enlightenment is working..." Mystake said.
"To help you see the tale, the original tale, The Tale of the Oni and the Dragon." She waved her hand through the steam of her cup.
"You lied? Mystake, why would you do that? I thought we were friends." Jay asked. Morro scoffed and swished around his cup.
"What are we supposed to see?" Lloyd asked.
"See...the beginning." Mystake opened the lid of her teapot. The steam blew towards the painting.
"Long before time had a name, there was the Realm of the Oni and the Dragon." Mystake pointed.
"One of the sixteen realms?" Lloyd asked.
"Not one of! The first." Mystake corrected. The brush work of the painting began to move.
"The Dragon had the power to create." She said as the long serpent-like beast circled around to create an image of a tree.
"The Oni had the power to destroy." The opposing Oni raised their hands and the tree fades away.
"Their war was never ending. But a child arrived, born of both worlds."
A figure in white rose up. He took two circles one white and one blade and mixed them.
"The child understood the power of both. Without one, you could not have the other."
The symbol for balance, a yin yang appeared.
"But when the Oni and the Dragon fought over which side the child should choose, the child abandoned their world to start a new one called Ninjago."
The Golden Weapons circled the glowing figure. With a Spinjitzu Tornado, the image of Ninjago, all of it before it was split in two.
"Are you telling me the child born from both worlds is the First Spinjitzu Master?" Lloyd asked.
"Hey, hey! You're related." Jay exclaimed. He gasped.
"That means you're part Oni and Dragon too!" Jay exclaimed.
"Like I said, truth can be dangerous." Mystake warned.
Jay gasped again.
"Wait, Morro does that mean--"
"Adopted." Morro, Lloyd and Mystake said.
"Oh."
"After the First Spinjitzu Master created Ninjago, he fathered two sons of his own." Mystake continued. Two figure appeared. One with with a kasa and the other with a warrior's helmet.
"He thought he could escape the war. He saw the evil of the Oni was waiting to be unleashed in one of his sons, Lord Garmadon!"
"It was up to Master Wu to control his brother's undying thirst to destroy, and with some help--"
Six figure appeared with the Ninja's colours.
"Hey! Haha! That's us!" Jay pointed.
"Have some more tea." Mystake said.
"Lord Garmadon was destroyed by the most powerful force of all: the love of his own son." The figure of green held his hand out. Garmadon had taken it. The painting reverted back to normal.
"Oh, and look at that. There are two more in the line." Mystake pointed to the brothers.
"But in the absence of the destruction, a void was created. A new darkness has arisen."
"The Sons of Garmadon." Lloyd said.
"The three Oni Masks are relics from the first realm, and they wield tremendous power. The power to deceive. The power of vengeance. The power to hate." Mystake explained.
"Hatred..." Morro whispered.
When they're united. What happens then?" Morro asked.
"You cannot let that happen." Mystake said.
"Tell me...what happens when the three masks are united?" Lloyd pressed.
"Resurrection. They will have the power to bring back your father! But it won't be the man you recognize! There will be no light left in him!" Mystake warned.
. . .
Harumi went into the sleeping quarters of the Bounty. She unfolded pictures of her family, they looks different than the Emperor and Empress. Then she looked at another photo. This time, Harumi was dressed with the royal family. But the little girl looked distant. Harumi put up the pictures on the photo board. The board carried pictures of the Ninja when they first joined, when they were training. It had pictures of Jay and Cole's parents, along with Kai and Nya's somewhat recent images of theirs's. Zane's father and creator also hung upon the board with a black falcon.
Something was strange. All over, there were picture's of the Ninja. But in every one, Morro was not in it. If he was, he wasn't fully in it, or not facing the camera and his face was hard to see.
"You making yourself comfy?" Nya asked at the door. Harumi turned around and nodded.
"May I ask..." She turned back to the board.
"Oh the pictures. And Morro, right?" Nya guessed.
"Yeah, he doesn't like having pictures taken of him. Actually, most of those pictures were taken by him." Nya pointed.
"He... Doesn't hang up pictures of his loved ones?" Harumi asked.
"Uh... We're all of his family." Nya said.
"I see..." Harumi trailed off.
Beside the board was a desk. It had a younger Lloyd and... Someone who looked just like him. But older and wise.
"If you can believe it, that used to be Lord Garmadon." Nya said.
"Lloyd's father?" Harumi asked.
"He made some mistakes, but he's made up for them." Nya walked closer.
"I've heard so many stories of him. Such anger. He hurt so many people. How did he change?" Harumi asked.
"Master Wu once told me holding onto anger is like trying to throw a hot rock." Nya said, looking at the picture of Master Wu.
"Only you get burned. Lloyd helped his father let go. But all of that is behind us now." Nya smiled.
"Or so I thought." Lloyd's voice came in from the door.
"Lloyd. You're back." Harumi said. Lloyd walked into the room.
"Where's Zane and Cole? I need to see everyone." He asked.
"Following a lead. Why? Is everything okay?" Nya asked. Lloyd faced the ground.
"The Sons of Garmadon want to bring back my father from the dead."

Balancing of the world
Just as humanity reached the height of its power, it fell again. Mana was introduced into a previously balanced world, sending everything present into chaos. Humanity losing its technological advantages, fell back to the dark ages, back to when survival was all but guaranteed. Mana though useful for enhancing the body isn’t unlimited, and humanity fell behind fast. From experiments, a being of mana, born into this chaotic world. The first of its kind. Rather than thriving in a world to which it belongs, it has to model the world so it will suit its needs. As a lone being, it has to use its power over mana to influence beasts and humans alike to abide by its will and further its goals. It will manipulate intelligent lifeforms to do its bidding while believing that they are becoming stronger. It will help lower lifeforms and guide their lives until they fit into the world as envisioned by our being. Read how our protagonist starts in a small area, changing it to suit its needs, and then grows until the world is balanced and at peace again. This is my first story, and I don’t have an editor yet. My English should be good enough, but I expect to have to go back and do editing later on. I would classify this story as litRPG. There will be a type of system with blue boxes and all, though the perspective is the system itself and how it came to be and why it does what it does. As a single mighty being, there will be dungeon core influences such as expanding the area and influencing all within though there is no such thing as an actual dungeon. As humanity is trying to survive, there will also be some city/base building influences, and I will have some perspective changes to show how the forces are being perceived by the affected people. As I have a busy job, it will be hard to update consistently, but I am quite a bit ahead of what I have currently uploaded.
