《Pied Piper | {K.NJ}》Chapter 16

You stared at Namjoon blankly after he confessed. You slowly processed the words he said but you couldn't think straight. You wanted to reply to him but the words just didn't come out and all you could do was stand there, looking like a fool.
Namjoon obviously knew that it would confuse you. He was calm and still had a smile on his face.
"It's okay, little kitten. You do not need to return those feelings. I just wanted to let you know how I feel."
You felt bad. It was unfair for him. You knew it but you couldn't come to a conclusion.
"Its late. Let's go home. I'll send you off."
"I..I'll go myself."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. You should get some rest. It's just a few walk back. I can manage that."
He didn't really want to comply with your wishes but he just nodded his head.
"If you say so."
You smiled at him and greeted him goodbye before turning around to head back home.
You needed this time alone. Also, you didn't want him to feel awkward.
You strolled down the road which somehow helped to clear your head. You had your eyes on the ground which caused you to bump into a person accidentally.
You immediately bowed and apologised to that person. You heard him chuckle so you looked up. You had never seen him before.
He had a soft curly light brown hair and beautiful sharp features. His fringe was a bit long that it reaches until his eyes. Gold string of earring tangling by the side and jaw line sharper than knife.
"It's fine."
His voice was surprisingly pretty deep which contradicted his looks. He smiled at you and you ended up blushing a bit.
"Why is a young lady like you out so late at night?"
"Umm I was visiting someone."
He formed an 'o' with his lips which soon became a smile again.
Your eyes dropped onto the bouquet of pretty pink camellias he was holding.
His eyes also followed to where you were looking and giggled. You realised that you were staring at it and you looked away nervously.
He stretched it out to you and you looked at him confused.
"For You."
"Wha-? No no I can't accept it."
"No, dear. It is for you."

He placed it in your hand and walked away. You froze for a bit and realised that he had gone away. You ran after him but as you turned to the corner of the street, he had disappeared.
"Little kitten?"
You turned back and saw Namjoon standing behind you. He walked towards you and looked at the flower and then up at you with his eyebrow raised.
"You haven't gone back yet?"
"Uhh I am heading back," you noticed that he was panting a bit. It seemed like he had ran. "Is something wrong?"
"Yeah you had received flowers by a random stranger in the middle of the night. Who knows what's going to happen next. You might get kidnaped or something."
You blinked your eyes as you had never seen him this worked out before.
He grabbed your hand and pulled you down the street.
"I'm still accompanying you back home."
"Protective," you said as you tried to hold in your laughter but failed completely.
He didn't look back to you but you knew he was smiling and soon ended up laughing as well.
"That I am."
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
"I love you, (Y/N)."
His voice repeatedly played in your head. You stuffed your pillow into your face as you tried to erase the thought away which obviously didn't work.
Your cheeks heating up as time passed by but there was also something else that was bothering you. You sat up on the bed and glanced at your table.
Camellia Flowers.
You recalled how the person looked like. It felt weird how you had never met him before yet felt so strangely familiar. It's like there's something like a bond in between.
'Another one pop up when I haven't even understand the previous ones' you thought to yourself.
You groaned and fell back onto the bed as you drifted off to sleep.

Jimin looked at you with big eyes as you ran into the classroom after seeing him. He wondered if something was wrong so he decided to check you but the bell rang and he had to leave it for lunch.
During lunch, he walked into your class but you weren't there. It was strange since you, Kim (Y/N) would never leave class during lunch. He was told that you went to the cafeteria by Minji who was still in class because she got held back by the teacher. He thanked her and headed off to the cafeteria.

You were at the school's cafeteria with your friends. You noticed him and quickly bend down in hope of being able to hide yourself from the view. Obviously he saw you hiding and was about to go to you when he got dragged by his friends to play a Soccer match.
You sighed in relief after you confirmed that he had left. Your friends were of course judging you but you didn't care.
You felt bad that you kept running away instead of facing him. It was just that you weren't ready to tell him. Plus you hadn't make up your mind.
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
You managed to leave school successfully without meeting Jimin. You knew you should at least let him know the situation but you just couldn't bring yourself to. After all, you know his feelings for you goes way beyond the moon and back.
You walked down the street to your house as you started thinking about how you should tell Jimin. You also needed to think about your feelings towards Namjoon. And also you need to figure out why you have to react to the flute sound. You had too much in your mind that you didn't see a person in front of you and ended up bumping into his chest.
You gasped and immediately bowed and apologised.
Again you heard the person chuckle just like last night. The same voice.
Déjà Vu?
You looked up and just like you thought, it was him. It was dark last night so you couldn't really see him. Now that you look at him properly, he looked really handsome like an angel who just dropped from heaven.
He didn't look too old, maybe even slightly younger than Namjoon. But then again, he could just be a very old person with a very cute baby face. You wouldn't even be surprised if he wasn't human.
Your thoughts were interrupted when you saw a bouquet of pink camellia flowers held out to you. You stared at it and then at him.
"For you."
You shook your head.
"I really can't accept it this time. I mean I don't even know you."
He chuckled again and seriously it sounded really lovely.
He brought your hand up and placed the bouquet in your hand. He gave you a boxy grin when you stared at him with slightly pink cheeks.
"I'm Taehyung."
He reached his hand out to you and you stared at it blankly. He chuckled and held your hand to shake it. Your face heated up as you felt embarrassed for not realising that he wanted a handshake.
"I'm no stranger, (Y/N)," he said as he let go of your hand, "Your Brother knows me and I'm sure you will soon too."
"What?"
Your eyes grew bigger as your brain processed what he said. He giggled and ruffled your head before going away, leaving you very confused. You reached out to ask him to wait but he was already gone again.
You looked at the flowers in your hand and let out a sigh in disappointment.
"One thing after another."
"What thing, little kitten?"
You squeaked and jumped backwards. You turned around to see a smiling Namjoon. Seeing him reminded you of the previous night which made you blush. However, you kept your cool and cleared your throat.
"Nothing."
"I think otherwise. Where did you get those flowers again?"
You face palmed yourself for thinking that you could lie to Namjoon. You shrugged your shoulders which made Namjoon raise his eyebrow.
"I really don't know who he is. He said my brother does though."
"Hyung does? Then, maybe you should ask him instead of always taking flowers from a stranger."
"Why? Are you jealous?" You teased him, even though you didn't mean it. And you were definitely not expecting his answer.
"Yeah I am," he said without even a slight hesitation.
Your face heated up as your heart skipped a beat. You covered your face with the bouquet of flowers to hide the blush.
"Shush."
He giggled as he found you adorable and accompanied you back home.
It wasn't really a quiet walk home. The two of you had conversations along the way, mostly about you because he kept on asking how your day was and whether you had sleep the previous night or not. He would make you laugh occasionally by talking about Min and how he pretend to be a cat as well as how clumsy he could get and how he ended up breaking the canvas into two just by touching it.
What you didn't know was that there was someone watching the two of you.

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
