《Jade *COMPLETED*》Chapter 2

Jade POV

"Billy, how come you never mentioned you had another daughter?" A woman asked. The woman was very attractive in my eyes with exotic good looks, glossy black hair and satiny copper skin, as well as a melodic voice. She has three long scars on the right side of her face from hairline to her chin and they extend down her right arm to her hand. I wonder how she got those.

"Because you never asked," Dad replied making me blush. Now I wish I called him and Jakey, but of course school was keeping me busy, and being a mermaid is no piece of cake. Oh cake! I hope they have some cake. "Now, everyone as Jake said, this is his younger twin sister, Jade Black."

"Good evening, it's nice to meet you all," I said with a smile on my face making everyone else smile.

"You are so cute," the woman said making me blush. "I could fit you into my pocket cause you're so tiny." Her words made everyone laugh as Jake put his arm around my shoulders.

"Yeah, JJ didn't quite catch up with the height when she was in Australia."

"Australia?" The girl with the brown hair asked making me nod.

"I lived there with my Aunt since I was nine, and only came back here today," I replied looking at the girl. She was quite plain in looks with pale skin making me wonder if she was sick, long brown locks and doe brown eyes that probably made guys chase her and fall for her innocent acts.

"Well it's amazing to have you back now, JJ," Jakey said as he hugged me. "Now go and sit next to Dad, the legends are about to start."

I nodded and went to sit next to Dad. He patted my head as I sat down on the log next to him and looked at the flames. I wonder what would Rikki do if she saw them. Emma's powers would probably have no affect on them, whilst Cleo would probably use her water powers to put out the dancing flames.

"The Quileute have been a small tribe from the beginning," Dad said snapping me out of my thoughts and looked at him in wonder. "And we've always had magic in our blood. We were great spirit warriors, shape-shifters that transformed to the powerful wolf. This enabled us to scare off our enemies and protect our tribe. One day our warriors came across a creature that looked like man but was hard like stone and cold as ice. Our warrior's sharp teeth finally tore it apart, but only fire would completely destroy it. They lived in fear the cold man was not alone. They were right."

I started to imagine what happened during that day with the warriors finding the vampire who killed their people. I continued to listen to the story as I now focused on the flames. "Third wife sacrifice distracted the cold woman long enough for Taha Aki to destroy her. She saved the tribe. Over time our enemies have disappeared but one remains. The cold ones. Our magic awakens when they're near and we sense it now, we feel the threat in our blood. Something terrible is coming and we must all be ready. All of us."

Once Dad finished speaking, I decided it was time for me to retire. I was quite jetlagged so I said my goodnights and left the bonfire to head home. I took my pyjamas from my wardrobe and my undies before heading into the bathroom. I closed and locked the door, and did the same to the window but also shut the blind so that no one would peak in and see a mermaid instead of human. I turned the water on and filled the tub with hot water and some bubbles before stripping myself of all my clothes and climbing in.

As soon as I settled into a comfortable position, I felt a familiar tingling going through my body and soon my lovely tail appeared. I sighed in comfort at the warmth of the water before scrubbing myself clean from head to tail. Once I finished, I rinsed everything off and drained the water out before somehow climbing out of the tub and onto the covered by a mat tiled floor. I took my towel and a blow drier, trying to get every single water drop off of me.

It took my about five minutes before I finally saw my legs again. Sighing happily, I put on my night clothes and put my hair into a braid before unlocking the door to be immediately met with a wall. A wall? More like a chest that made me almost fall to the floor if the owner of the chest didn't catch me in time before I hit the ground.

I gasped when I felt the warm hands around my waist, holding me tightly and making me wonder whether the person was sick. I looked at the owner and gasped when I saw that is was a guy from the bonfire. He was at least 6 feet tall and muscular, with the traditional brown eyes, black hair and facial features of a Native American. He had a tattoo on his right arm, with the tattoo reminding me of wolves.

I felt my cheeks heat up when the guy kept looking into my eyes. Is he okay?

"Umm, sorry but you can let go now," I said as I slowly stood up. The guy still had his hands wrapped around my waist. "Sorry for bumping into you, I didn't know someone was waiting outside. I would have hurried up if you knocked."

The guy just continued to stare at me, making me now feel a little uncomfortable. "Sorry," the guy suddenly said making me silently moan at the sound of his deep voice. "I didn't mean to bump into you. I hope you didn't get harmed."

"Nope, not a single scratch," I said with a smile before giving him my hand to shake. "Jade Black, nice to meet you....?"

"Paul," the guy replied with a smile as he shook my hand. "Paul Lahote."
