《Senior Year》Pillow Fight

Everyone went to bed after Thomas sent that text to your ex. You got into bed, and snuggled up with the comforter and your stuffed animal. You slept good throughout the night.
Your alarm for 6:15am went off, which is your alarm for church. You turned it off and went back to sleep. After about an hour, you heard your door opening.
"Dylan, Will, don't even think about it. If you two jump on me again, I'll hit you both where it hurts with my pillow." you said, still sounding sleepy.
"I'm not Dylan or Will." it was Kaya.
You turned over to see her at the doorway.
"Sorry. What is it?" you asked, rubbing your eyes.
"All of the boys are still asleep. How about we wake them up?" she asked, holding up her pillow.
You noticed the point she was trying to get across.
You grabbed your pillow and got out of bed. You both walked out into the living room. Rosa, Kat, and Nathalie were on the couch. They were still in their pajamas and were armed with pillows. The five of you quietly crept upstairs to the boys' rooms.
Kat and Nathalie snuck into the room where Dylan, Will, Alexander, and Jacob were in. You, Kaya and Rosa snuck into the room where Thomas, Ki Hong, and Dexter were in.
Rosa turned on the lights. The three of them groaned at the light. Ki Hong sat up in his bed.
"Turn off the-" he said, but cut himself off.
"PILLOW FIGHT!" the three of you yelled.
Each of you ran to a bed and started hitting the boy that was in it. The girls were laughing, while the boys were dodging hits. Soon enough, the boys grabbed their pillows and the war began.

When you were out of breath and strength, you were done.
"Hey! Hey! HEY!" you yelled to get their attention.
"Ceasefire." Dexter said.
"Truce?" Kaya asked the boys.
"Truce." they said in unison.
You crashed on Thomas's bed, huffing and puffing air. He sat down next you.
"You alright, love?" Thomas asked.
"Yeah. Just out of the breath." you said.
"Come on. Let's go have breakfast." Thomas said.
You grabbed your pillow and you both walked downstairs.
Will and Dexter were already starting to make waffles. You both sat on the couch with the others. Alexander turned on the TV and Spongebob was on. It's the episode where Spongebob loses his name tag and he has to retrace his steps.
"Dylan, Will. Just so you know, that pillow fight was revenge for bouncing on me those two times." you said.
"Okay. We get your message." Dylan said.
Spongebob started to hyperventilate because his name tag isn't on his shirt.
"So, y/n, what has been the hardest thing about senior year so far?" Ki Hong asked.
"Easy. Chemistry and Government." you said right off the bat.
"Why are those classes so hard?" Kaya asked.
"You try to do chemical conversions and a quiz after you learned the new stuff about the federal government." you said.
They all looked confused.
"Exactly." you said.
"Okay. What about the easiest thing about senior year?" Ki Hong asked.
"That's easy too. Senior release, but I also like being the Teacher's Assistant for the Special Education teacher." you said.
"Breakfast is ready." Dexter announced.
Everyone went to the kitchen. There's chocolate chip waffles, bacon, and fruit. You got two waffles, two pieces of bacon, and some apple slices.
The memories of eating together played in your head. It felt good to do it again.

The Glyph Queen
When Winnie was thirteen, her settlement taught her how to fire a rifle. Her school practiced drills in case raiders came, and the town grew crops in their greenhouse-adapted homes, which were the only places warm enough during the worldwide nuclear winter. The Lakiran empire invades—a corporate-born nation overseen by their corporate-born queen, Victoria Paladino. They ride silent planes whose repulsion field veered bullets away. Three years of occupation later, an exemplar visits—a member of Victoria’s oversight committee rumored to read minds. He tells Winnie that she may have a unique mental power, or a flair. At the empire’s capital, the queen herself tutors Winnie to help her reach the full potential of whatever power she may have. Meanwhile, in post-war Nigeria, a streetwise teenager named Naema sees a different side of the empire. Between corruption and oppression, everyone lives in squaller. People fight over assembled food pastes. She too is told she has a unique flair, not by the empire, but by a fugitive woman who is the last vestige of an ancient witch coven, and she knows a dark secret about what the exemplars do to people like Winnie and Naema. Updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The most recent chapters of The Glyph Queen are available on its main website.
