《The Silent Queen》Return to Rito Village

After waking up to Link's cheery face beaming at her, Zelda got changed into her clothes for the day, and packed anything they had taken out of their bags. Link yawned, then went back to sleep, completely oblivious to Zelda scurrying around the room. For someone who slept for a very long time, he sure did find it easy sleeping.

Once Zelda had packed everything, she shook Link awake, who woke up slightly dazed, and urged him to put on his clothes and come down to breakfast.

"But I want to sleep..." He mumbled, before giving her his back.

"My, did you just say that you'd rather sleep than eat?"

"No, don't make me choose!" Link whined, "Making me choose between sleeping and eating is like me trying to make you choose between me or me."

"For the record, I prefer you to you. You are so much better than you." Zelda replied.

"Go away..."

And Link pulled the bed sheets over himself, and instantly began snoring.

"Stop acting like a child!" Zelda snapped, "Now wake up!"

She ripped the bed sheets off of him, to reveal the that the General was sleeping in his boxers and shirt, and dragged him out of the bed.

"But I don't want to go to school!" He cried, then sat down on the floor so she couldn't drag him any further.

"Link, for the Love of Hylia, would you stop!" The Queen hissed.

He laid down on the floor and placed his hands on his chest as though he were in a coffin.

"The spell is only broken by a true love's kiss." He whispered with his eyes closed.

"I am not putting up with this... Nonsense!" Zelda cried, "you can stay like that for the rest of eternity if you want."

The General was snoring again, and Zelda let out a groan of exasperation. She bit her lip thoughtfully, then kneeled down next to him. She could see his eyelids twitch as she brought her face closer to his and pressed her lips onto his lips. Before she could move away, Link pulled her onto him, and wrapped his arms around her. They kissed some more; kissing as though there would be no tomorrow.

"Come on now, Link, we should really get back on the road." Zelda said as they drew away from one another.

He stared at her with his big blue eyes, then sighed.

"I don't know where to go next..." he muttered.

The Queen smiled fondly at him, and brushed his golden hair out of his face.

"We can go to Rito Village, then we could explore the mountains." She offered.

"But last time we went to Rito Village." He sighed, "and there's somewhere else that I want to take you to."

"Ok, how about we go to Rito Village seeing as we're already on our way there, then we can go to wherever you want to take me." She smiled, "Link, you don't have to try to impress me, you know, I'd gladly go anywhere you like."

"Yeah, I know, it's just..."

Zelda rested her chin on his chest, and gazed into his eyes.

"I really love you." Link finished, "and I want to make sure that you have as much fun as possible."

The Queen rubbed her nose against his, then scrambled off of him and stretched.

"I've left out some clothes for you." She stated, "And I've packed everything else. We'll east breakfast, thank Malon then be on the road."

"Sounds utterly spiffing, Your Majesty." Link smiled, "I'm real chuffed about this."

"Well? Get up, then!"

*********

"Ah, we've made it to Rito Village!"

After travelling for some time after leaving Lon Lon Ranch, Link and Zelda arrived at Rito Village, where they were graciously welcomed by the Rito.

"Good to see you back here again, Link." A Rito soldier greeted at the entrance.

Link and Zelda had left their horses at the nearby stable, and so they walked up the village planks on foot until they bumped into a Rito with white feathers, accompanied by a young Rito.

"Teba!" Link greeted.

"Ah, Link nice to see you again." The Rito replied, "I've just returned from the flight range with Tulin."

The young Rito jumped up into the air with excitement.

"I'm getting closer to becoming a warrior like Champion Revali!" Tulin announced.

Tulin had grown quite a bit since Link last saw him. The Rito was now taller, and had grown flight feathers on his now larger wings. Tulin was no longer a fledgling.

"He's been getting along really well with his training." Teba said proudly, "It is really a miraculous thing seeing them grow up."

"Where are your fledglings?" Tulin demanded.

"N-no fledglings here." Link replied as he and Zelda went red in the face.

"You must forgive him." Teba laughed, "Anyway, what do you guys intend to do during your stay here?"

"Explore the mountains, I guess." Link shrugged.

"Relax, mostly." Zelda added.

"Yes, the two of you deserve a good break. You've both been working so hard."

"Dad, come on, mother said to be home in time for dinner!" Tulin urged.

"Well, if you'll excuse me, I must get going. " Teba chuckled.

Zelda and Link watched as the two Rito made their way up the wooden planks of the village.

"Gosh, I'm knackered." The General yawned as he stretched his arms and wrapped them around Zelda, "You know, we could go out into the mountains now and spend the night there. There's a way to conserve body heat, you know."

The Queen chuckled as she tried to break free from his hug.

"I'd rather keep my clothes on in the frigid mountains, thank you very much."

"Yes, but we can stay warm by-"

"Link, please just listen to what you are saying." Zelda sighed, "Then tell me if you still want to 'conserve body heat' in the mountains."

"Yeah, I guess not... But you know, frozen stuff are-"

"Link!" She hissed.

"Okay, okay..."

As they were talking, they had made their way to the deck near the shrine of the village, then sat down and dangled their legs off of the edge of the deck.

"It's quite a fall." Zelda pointed out.

"Not really..."

"Why, have you tried it?"

"Of course I have!" Link exclaimed, "If there a deck that high enough, I will jump off of it. How do you not know that?!"

"You really need to get a life check." The Queen said, "You can't keep on doing these reckless things. What if you end up killing yourself."

"Well, I would have died in a fun way..." The General muttered, "Better than dying as an old raisin."

"Yes, well 'old raisins' have lived their entire lives. They've probably had a family and done some reckless stuff which isn't life threatening. If you throw away your life like that, you wouldn't get to experience everything."

Link's eyebrows were raised sceptically.

"You mean to say that I'll be upset about not being a married man and not having children?"

"Uh... Yes?"

He laughed manically, and Zelda looked on with a slightly concerned expression.

"A-Are you ok?" She asked.

"I'm fine..."

He stood up, brushed his backside, then looked at Zelda with a scheming face.

"Care to 'conserve body heat' now?"

"Huh? We're not going out into the mountains, are we?" She asked with a confused look.

Link rolled his eyes, and pulled her up onto her feet. He then held her hand, and pulled the perplexed Queen along with him.

"No, we're not." He answered.

"Oh, I get it..."

-----------

I'm back, I'm back! Don't worry, I didn't die of Coronavirus or anything. Sorry I haven't published in over a month. I got major writer's block. But don't think that I've been slacking off writing. In actual fact I have still been writing. I've been working on the spin-off for Jorulph this past month, and let's say I got a bit carried away and forgot about everything else. I've already written 11 chapters XD. Anyway, this chapter probably wasn't the best since I've shifted from writing about Jorulph back to writing about Link and Zelda, but hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.

I hope you're all doing ok <3
