《The Silent Queen》Hebra Mountain

Zelda had woken up to find Link's arms wrapped around her from behind. She smiled to herself as he snuggled closer and pressed his cheek against her skin whilst he was still sleeping. The Rito bed was probably the most comfiest bed she had ever slept in, and she wondered if she could get one for herself.
Zelda was looking forward to the day. They were going to trekking up in Hebra mountain, and have their noses frozen off by the bitter cold. But it was going to be fun. As long as they were together, it was ok.
The Queen slipped out of Link's grasp, and wrapped her dressing gown around her body. She then watched as the General attempted to hug the air, then pat the empty space next to him with a frown. He opened one eye and looked at Zelda, who was smiling warmly at him.
"Good morning." She greeted.
"Morning." He yawned as he sat up and stretched his arms, the bed sheets slipping down his bare chest.
"I'm pretty sure you've done more sleeping than anything else on this trip." Zelda chuckled as she perched on the bed next to him.
"It's supposed to be relaxing..."
"Come on, get up, then we can spend the whole day up in Hebra mountains."
Link awkwardly reached for his pants, which were lying on the floor, then once he slipped them on, he threw the bed sheets off of himself and sprung off the bed, punching the air with glee.
"Someone's happy today." Zelda remarked.
"When you wake up, you're supposed to do something dramatic like that so you feel more awake and happy." Link replied, "Anyway, I fancy some egg for breakfast."
"Link, don't say that in front of the Rito!" The Queen hissed.
"Ok, whatever... I'm going to put on some warm clothes so we can get a move on."
***********
After they had eaten breakfast, Link and Zelda made their way up to Hebra mountain, and they were met with the icy cold. Link was dressed in his Rito gear, and Zelda was dressed in her royal winter gear.
"I-It's cold..." Zelda stated through chattering teeth.
They walked through the ankle-high snow, which glistened in the sun. There was something magical about the mountains which always compelled Link to come and explore it. He always felt very lost up in the snow, but he felt lost in an adventurous way, and that's what he loved so much about it. Now he could share this feeling with Zelda, and they could get lost together.

"Oh hey, look at this!" he exclaimed as he crouched down in the snow.
"What is it?" Zelda asked as she bent down to see.
Link smirked as he took a handful of snow and threw it in her face.
"Why you-"
The Queen growled as she clumped a ball of snow and lobbed it at him, hitting him in the face.
"Oh... It's on." Link muttered.
He cupped the snow in his hands, and Zelda squealed as she ran away, Link in hot pursuit. She ran into a frosty forest, and the General lost sight of her. Just as he was about to call out to her, he felt a large mound of snow being dumped onto him. He fell to the floor, and just before Zelda could flee, he grabbed her ankle, and sent her tumbling to the ground as well. They locked eyes as they began scrambling in the snow, trying to make the biggest snowball before the other. Zelda staggered to her feet with a giant snowball between her arms, and as she dropped it on Link, she fell on top of him due to the weight of the snowball.
"Geez, I don't know if I'd rather have the snowball or you fall on top of me." Link sighed as he lay in the snow.
"Link, don't just rest your head in the snow without a hat on." Zelda warned.
She took off her winter cap, then placed it on head
"I bet I look gorgeous." He joked.
As she laughed, Link couldn't help but be mesmerised by her beauty, which seemed to radiate even more in their white, powdery environment. It was as though the snow reflected her enchanting looks, and he realised why he found the snow so captivating.
"You want to go live in Akkala, but I would anything to live up here in the mountains." He said as he hugged her, still lying in the snow.
"It would be awfully lonely." Zelda replied as she sat up, and looked around the winter wonderland, "But is it awfully beautiful."
"Well, it was beautiful." Link said with a smirk, "But that was until I brought you here."
They smiled as the sun shone through the icicles which were hanging off the trees, giving the forest a sacred feel to it. Everything was sparkling, but the only thing missing was something sparkling on Zelda's finger.
"Z-Zelda..." It was cold now, he could barely get the words out, "Will you- look out!"

He shoved her off of him as a large icicle came plummeting down, and impaled itself in the snow between Link's legs.
"Imagine if that landed somewhere else."
"Oh, thank you, Link, that would've gone straight through me." She wrapped her arms around him and planted a kiss on his cheek, "Come on, let's go."
She pulled him up onto his feet and they walked hand-in-hand. They made their way deeper into the forest, and the further they went, the more overwhelming the scenery became. Everything was so and fluffy white, and little paw prints could be seen scattered across the snow. The cold was biting at Link's nose, and he couldn't feel his ears, but everything was so pretty, and that made it all worth it.
He watched as Zelda giggled as she brushed her hand through the hanging branches of a frozen willow tree. They were now in a clearing, the glistening willow tree curtaining then from everything else. The white snow reflected was in Zelda's green eyes, and Link's heart was urging him on. The scene was set. What could be better than asking her the most important question in the chilly mountains. The place where Link felt confident.
"Zelda..." he took a deep breath, and stepped towards her, as she turned to look at him, "this entire trip I've been meaning to ask you one very simple question, and for some reason I couldn't get the words out. Maybe it was because I was scared of the answer, or maybe because I was just scared in general, but... I'm not going to wait around any longer."
He fished out the small black box from his pockets, then opened it to reveal a golden ring which had an emerald stone. Zelda gasped as she cupped her hands over her mouth.
"Zelda, I really love you, I've been saying it this whole time, but what I really mean is that I love you so much, and I want to spend my whole life with you." Link took a deep breath, "What I'm trying to say is- Zelda, will you marry me?"
These moments were probably the longest moments in Link's life. Each second seemed to pass like an eternity, and his heart was about to rip out of his chest. He could see her eyes water, and that did not help.
"I-"
She bowed her head.
"No."
Link's heart came to a shattering stop. There was the answer... The answer he had been dreading more than anything. But she had said it, an there nothing left to it now.
"We should... Head back." He mumbled.
He pocketed the ring, handed the hat back to Zelda, and stalked off, wanting to hide his face. He couldn't think. His mind was numb. He felt nothing.
"I won't marry you." Zelda announced, "You'll marry me."
Link's ears perked up as he turned around to see her smiling at him. A huge grin of relief washed over his face as she came running up to him.
"Yes, Link, yes!" She cried as he spun her around.
He cupped her face, which was streaming with tears of joy, and pressed his lips against hers. Inside his head was a huge celebration, and he could finally breath again. He still couldn't think. His mind was still numb. But he felt pure joy. Indescribable joy.
He took out the ring from the box, took hold of Zelda's dainty hand, and slipped the ring onto her finger. She threw herself onto him, and they came crashing down onto the snow again, but they didn't care.
"Oh Link..."
Zelda was weeping now. Link laughed as he brushed away her tears and kissed her forehead.
"You idiot." She chuckled with a watery smile, "Is this what you've been trying to ask this whole time?!"
"I know... I should have done it sooner..." He sighed, "hey, stop crying. Your tears will freeze on your face."
He got up, and held out a hand for her.
"Let's go back an celebrate with some food."
They linked their arms together, and began trudging through the snow, back to Rito Village.
"How are you going to break the news to Food?" Zelda asked.
"Food will be a bit upset, but I think Food will be happy for me. Food will want what's best for me, even if it means letting me go."
Zelda sighed dreamily as she kissed his cheek.
"You have no idea how happy I am."
"We are going to have a big buffet for our wedding, right?" Link asked, "I'm going to regret asking you to marry me if there isn't one."
"Of course the King of Hyrule will have the finest cuisine for his wedding."
Link's eyes widened with realisation. He never considered the fact that if he married her, he would become King.
"King Link, huh?" He pondered.
