《The Silent Queen》Bound by Blood

"So you guys intend to visit all of Hyrule?"
Link, Malon, Zelda and Malon's father Talon- another name passed down many times-, were all sat around a rustic table in the dining room of Malon and Talon's house. It was a cosy room with the scent of freshly baked bread lingering in the air.
"Yes, we do." Zelda replied, daintily eating the food on her plate.
"Huh, well I recommend checking out Mabe Village if you have the time." Malon suggested.
"Perhaps we shall." Zelda smiled, "Right Link?"
Link had just stuffed a huge portion of food into his mouth, and now he was chewing on it frantically. Finally, he disregarded chewing, and just swallowed the food, wincing as it passed down his throat.
"Yes!" He gasped.
"You ladies better stop disturbing him." Talon chuckled, "The man needs to eat."
"That's all you care about, father." Malon snapped, "Food!"
"Link is the same!" Zelda laughed.
They carried on eating, and once they were done, Talon got up from the table, and patted his stomach.
"Well, I leave you youngsters to it, whatever it is you do these days. Late night partying? Anyway, I'm going to bed, I have to be up early tomorrow."
"Good night, sir." Link said.
"You two must come with me." Malon said eagerly once Talon was gone, "After I clear up the dishes, that is."
"Would you like me to help?" Zelda offered.
"Oh, no, that's quite alright, thank you."
"Nonsense, we can go wherever you want us to go much faster if I do help."
And so Malon and Zelda cleared up all of the plates as Link was slouched on the chair, patting his now fully belly with satisfaction.
"I think I have a food baby." He said randomly.
"Hey, who with? I don't remember ever causing it to happen." Zelda stated.
"I think you screwed up, Zelds, now I have to raise this accident by myself, then dump it in the toilet, again, by myself!"
"Sounds rough." Malon noted, a tone of bemusement in her voice.

"It is!" Link cried dramatically, "You don't understand the hardships of processing all of this love in your body then just flushing it away like it's nothing! You'll never understand true pain!"
The two girls shared a sceptical look with one another.
"Oh well, that's life." Malon shrugged, "Shall we get going? Follow me."
As they followed her up the stairs, Zelda neared closer to Link.
"You're having way too many food babies," She whispered, "Maybe lay off the food for a while. You'll soon find that you can barely walk up a flight of stairs if you carry on like this."
Link smirked, then charged up the stairs.
"See... Piece of delicious... Fruit cake..." He panted.
"Link, when we get back, you're going to do laps around the castle." Zelda said with a smile.
Malon led them down the hallway to a door at the end. She opened it and stepped out into the fresh night air.
"Where is she going?" Link asked Zelda in a stage whisper.
"Trust me, you'll both like it." Malon said.
It was a tiny balcony, with a ramp leading up to the rooftop. She rushed up the ramp, and poked her head out from the top.
"Hurry up!" She called out.
Link let Zelda go first, then followed behind her. Once they reached the top, they had a clear view of the clear sky, sprinkled with stars and ghosts of galaxies. Streaks of shimmering dust darted across the sky as faint galaxies swirled billions of light years away.
"Oh, it's beautiful!" Zelda sighed.
The trio sat down the roof, and craned their necks to get as much out of the view as they could.
"See!" Malon said triumphantly.
"Nice one." Link replied.
He was sat in the middle of the two, with Zelda resting her head on his shoulder, just as she'd usually do.
"Sometimes you just have to slow down and appreciate the beauty of life." said Malon softly.
Zelda gripped onto Link's hand, interlacing her fingers with his.
"I bet you don't get a view like this in a bustling town." The ranch girl chuckled.

"No, sadly not." Link replied then turned to Zelda, who was now fast asleep, "Actually, maybe I do..."
"There's a room for you two." Malon said, "First one to your left when you walk through that door."
Link nodded and heaved Zelda into his arms.
"I'll... Be back." He said to their hostess.
He carried the Queen down from the roof back to the hallway, then nudged the bedroom door open. There the bed was already made, as though awaiting for any guests. Link laid Zelda down on the bed, and pulled the bed sheets over her sleeping figure.
"Good night." He whispered a he planted a kiss on her forehead.
"So tell me more about your family." Malon asked as he joined her back on the roof.
"My family?" He repeated as he sat down next to her, "My father was a royal guard-"
"No... I mean, like your ancestors."
"I don't really..." Link thought back to the strange encounter he had several years ago, "I think I'm a descendant of the Hero of Time..."
He expected her to laugh at him, but instead, she had an intrigued look on her face.
"The Hero of Time?!" She repeated, "But that can't be- That means..."
She took a deep breath, then stared straight into his eyes.
"A ancestor of mine allegedly married the Hero of Time." She said calmly, despite the excitement bubbling within her, "Ironically, she was the first recorded Malon."
"Wait, that means..."
Malon held up her hand, halting his excited expression.
"I doubt we're close relatives." She said, "After all these years, we're probably fourth cousins, thrice removed or however it works. Barely related."
"But still." Link urged, "You knew the song that has been passed down my family. Our family."
"It is quite a nice feeling of finding a little part of yourself." Malon said with a smile.
"I knew there was something more to you." Link stated, "I couldn't shake off the feeling that I knew you."
They both stared up at the sky. So this was it. This is the connection Link felt to this place, to this girl.
"Does that mean I have hero's blood in me?" She asked.
"I guess so..."
Malon chuckled.
"Anyone can have hero's blood." She said, "You just have to believe in what is right and always be striving for the greater good."
She glanced at Link sideways, a small smile creeping up on her face.
"But maybe that hero's blood could become royal blood, too." She smirked
Link turned his head to her.
"What do you-"
"Quit fooling around, Link, you love more than you could possibly put into words, what's holding you back?" Malon questioned.
"I-I... I don't know..."
"It's mighty frustrating, you know." The ranch girl continued, "When you have the same feelings, but they won't make a move. Why, it got to a point when I was so ready to confess it to... Now who is he to you? Oh yes, Lieutenant Burlon."
"Lieutentant Burlon?!" Link spluttered, "You and him-"
"Yes, yes, keep your hair on."
She sighed.
"I think you should." Malon continued, "Look at it this way: she'll either say yes and you'll both be happy. She might say no because she's not ready, but you could ask her again when she is. Or she'll say no and cast you away, and that'll tell you that she isn't the one."
Link didn't like the third option.
"I'm sure it'll be one of the first two." Malon added hastily, "And I'm willing to believe that it'll be the first one."
"You think?" Link asked.
"I know, we share the same blood." She emphasised, "Anyway, I can see it in both your eyes, you love each other so much."
The General clenched his hands into a determined fist. What was holding him back? The right moment? Fear?
"If you don't try, you'll never know." Malon said hopefully, "And If you wait too long, you'll soon find that it'll be too late."
"It's time to quit playing it safe." Link stated, "You're right, I have to take chances, it's the only way I'll achieve anything."

I've realised something. I think I use too much dialogue. Is my writing style ok, or does it need improving?
