《IN YOUR MIND. fezco》ix. long descent

Lulu slept in Fezco's bed for eleven hours straight. He stayed by her side all the way through, scared shitless that she would die at any moment. She was fine though. I don't think she'll ever die 'cause of drugs. She's too strong for that. When she got home, her mom wasn't there. Which was good, Lulu didn't want to see her.
Lulu was in her small backyard, a fuming cup of coffee next to her, and a cigarette in between her lips. She gazed at all the houses and roofs she could see, looking up at the sky to observe the light dawn.
When she left Fezco's place, she promised him she was fine. 'Cause he knows some drugs can fuck you up and make you extra depressed for like two days straight. Sometimes more. She pretended she was okay when really she lied. And she was coming off that shit on her own.
Without even noticing, Lulu had started crying. Not a lot. A few tears rolled down her cheeks and she quickly wiped them away, frowning in confusion. Because she didn't know why she was crying. Maybe she was struggling with a few things here and there but, overall, Lulu was going through quite a peaceful phase.
Her father was out of the picture —and Lulu was perfectly fine with it for the time being, her sister didn't seem worried, depressed or anxious, her mother was definitely hiding shit but Lulu knew she could manage. And, well, Lulu felt Rue drifting away and it was breaking her heart but she knew she would be fine. She knew she couldn't force anyone to keep in touch. No matter how much she loved them.
Thinking about her current relationship with Rue made Lulu cry even harder.
Lulu could lie to the whole world but she couldn't lie to herself. And I was crying too, thinking about how much I had fucked up with her.

Lulu's phone buzzed and she raised an eyebrow, not thinking she would receive a text from Fezco this early.
yo tf u lied
i see u cryin by my window
come over
i hate seeing u like this
Lulu looked to the side to see Fezco inside his bedroom, looking sleepy as he rubbed his eyes. She couldn't help but glance at his shirtless torso and bit her lip as she gave him a smile, which he obviously returned.
yeah i could use a hug rn
coooooome
i'll give u all them u want
Lulu's mind drifted towards unholy thoughts and she gulped, mentally slapping herself. She got up and went back inside but stopped dead in her tracks when she opened the front door, recognizing the car that her mother got out of a few weeks back. It was the same guy driving. Except this time he was parked in front of her house and Kris rushed out of Lulu's room, unintentionally slamming the door.
Kris pushed past her daughter to go outside.
"You were in my room?" Lulu asked, following her out.
Kris ignored her, trying to reach the car as fast as possible, but Lulu was quick to react and ran until she was in front of her mother, her back leaning against the car door.
"Not even saying hi to your daughter, uh?"
"Lulu, please, I'm busy," Kris sighed, trying to push her out of the way.
"Busy?" Lulu repeated with a snarky laugh, "Busy with what? You ain't even got a job."
"Oh yeah? How about you tell me where you are when you disappear for a full day and a half?"
Lulu raised her hands, "Stop pretending you're worried, you don't even try to text or call when it happens!"
Kris remained unphased as Lulu turned around to stare at the guy inside the car, "Yo, who the fuck are you? And what do you want with my mo—"

Kris pushed her daughter violently, "Go back inside, this is none of your fucking business! I'm not kidding!"
Kris jumped inside the car and the guy turned the engine on as Lulu stepped in front of the car, her arms crossed over her chest.
"You're not going anywhere until you tell me what the fuck is going on!" Lulu shouted, her lips trembling with anger and fear.
Zahia walked out of the house, still half-asleep as she was awakened by the screaming. She quickly understood something was going on and ran by her sister's side.
Lulu opened her eyes wide when she saw her mother holding a pile of cash in her hands, recalling her mother getting out of her room a few seconds before with shame all over her face.
"Did you take that money from me?" Lulu yelled, "Mom, fucking answer me, what the hell?"
Kris rolled down the window, "Please, honey, I'm begging you, I have to go."
"Mom, why are you doing this?" Zahia asked, her voice cracking as she didn't recognize her mother at all.
The driver played with the gas pedal, trying to scare the two girls away, Zahia moving to the side in fear. Fezco and Ashtray were outside and the younger sister was pulled by Ashtray.
Lulu gave the driver a death glare, "What you gonna do, uh? Run me over? You fucking bitch, I dare you to try."
"Lulu, please," Zahia begged.
"Shut up, Lulu!" Kris shouted, "Move!"
"No! You get the fuck out of this car, what's wrong with you?!" Lulu spat.
The car backed away slowly and Lulu made eye contact with the driver who had a smirk plastered on his lips as he drove forward, the car knocking Lulu just enough to make her step back before he pulled on the breaks.
"Try that one more time, I'll track you down," Lulu said before sprinting towards the car door, "Mom, get out. Now!"
Lulu tried opening it but it was locked from the inside. The girl shared a look with Kris, fear painted all over her face. Kris seemed scared as well.
"Mom, please... please," Lulu begged in a whisper.
Kris bit her lip and, in a heartbeat, gave her daughter a cold glare. She turned to look at the driver, "Go," and the car sped away, leaving Lulu alone on the road, Ashtray, Fezco and Zahia just a few feet away.
Lulu was brought back to reality when she heard Zahia bursting into tears, looking over to see her engulfed in Fezco's arms. Seeing her sister like this made her stomach twist in pain and she had to bit her lip strongly to bottle up the tears she could feel prickling her eyes.
Fezco had his eyes glued on her but she couldn't, and wouldn't, let him see her like that one more time, feeling her mind bringing dark thoughts she couldn't handle in front of other people.
Zahia let go of Fezco and was about to say something to her sister that Lulu was already back at the front door, slamming the door shut behind her.
Silence lasted for a second before Fezco, Ashtray and Zahia heard something behind smashed inside the Jenson's house, followed with another loud noise.
The last thing they heard was Lulu shouting before the whole street turned quiet once more.
