《Promise》Chapter 25: The game plan

“I got us the invitation letter,” Kyle told the team when he got back.
“What, how?, was it really that easy for you?” Allan asked.
“Yep, piece of cake, the only problem is we will have to leave this city soon, but that is not really an issue for us is it”. Kyle replied. “So what is your plan on how to break in the room?”
“Well, we thought that we would do a simple honey trap, one person got close to her, asked her for a private conversation elsewhere, stole the key, gave it back to us and then got it back to her when we were done.” Allan said.
Kyle kept silent for quite a while then said. “Wait, was that actually the punch line of your joke? How the hell are we going to practice all of that in just 2 days?” Kyle yelled out at them.
“Hey that was the best we could have come up with, we don’t even know we left her key yet, so the ‘plan’ can’t be 100% accurate” Liam said.
“That was barely 10%, your guys just stated the obvious” Kyle said “OMG, why does it always have to fall to me to come up with the plan.”
After some thought, Kyle stretched out a semi better version of the plan. “First, we need some wardrobe change, we could not go to a fancy Ball looking like this, second, Allan and Liam, you guys must practice pickpocketing and how to charm Alena. Allan, I trust you with this.”
“Wait what?why me?” Allan said.
“Well not because you are a handsome blonde-haired blue-eyed young man who has already proven that he is popular with the girls” Kyle replied “Liam, you have to practice too in case Allan fails to charm her”.
“Next me and Luna will take the key from Alena, get to her room and steal the box. Liam and Maria will stand guard in the main Ballroom, keeping an eye for anyone who might stand in our way and give us a signal if anything goes wrong. Then we return the key to Allan and you just have to act like she just dropped that key or something.” Kyle said. “This is far from a perfect plan but with only 2 days to go and limited resources, this is the best that I could come up with”.

“Uh… So how much is that plan of yours actually different from ours ?” Liam said. Kyle only response was silent, then he spoke out at a slightly irritated voice
“Now is not the time for silly questions Liam, you guys know what to do now, we are running against the clock so let’s go” Kyle spoke.
The night of the Turner’s annual Ball had come, and everything was set. Killing two birds with one stone, all the fancy clothes that the team had right now was actually stolen then remodelled by Maria's skillful hand, and the one who stole it Luna and Kyle to practice breaking and entering without getting caught. Allan and Liam got a lot of lectures on how to catch a girl's eyes from Luna and Maria, “nothing could possibly go wrong,” they said. And with those words, a flag was raised.
Just like how they planted, they entered the party with ease, well they did have an invitation. Next, they split up and got a good look of the mansion, mapping in their mind which was where, the stairs, the entrance, the rooms,... They were all waiting for the most important part of the plan, where was the key?. They waited patiently for Alena to come in, and they did not have to wait long. Ten minutes later, the moment they were waiting for finally came. Alena's name was announced to the whole Ballroom, Alena walked into the room with her parents and elder brother as her escorts.
Not surprisingly Alena was another beauty, with her long blond hair and perfect skin, her purple eyes were the highlight. It was so beautiful and clear, almost as if someone would get their heart stolen if you look into her eyes. She was wearing an elegant blue dress that just perfectly made her stand out of the crowd. But there was one thing that they had missed, she was known as the ‘ice princess’, a crucial point that they failed to know beforehand.
“The Key is on her wrist,” Luna said. Her sharp eyes saw that a key was attached to the bracelet on Alena's right hand.

“Target lock, wait until she is separated from her family before we make the move” Liam said. They all nodded and split out, Allan stood alone, getting ready to move in on Alena, Kyle and Luna were getting ready to grab the key from Allan right after, and finally Liam and Maria were getting into look out position.
The moment had arrived. Alena was separated from her family, and Allan made his move. However, getting close to Alena was something that the team did not foresee as such an issue. Alena was surrounded by other nobles and rich men. Allan though did his best, only managed to get a “hello” in response from Alena. 10 minutes later, it was still going nowhere, Alena did not even notice Allan from the crowd of other man in front of her, and of course he could not get his hand on the key without starting a riot.
“Plan A failed, time for plan B” Luna said. This time it was Liam's turn, he left his lookout position and headed straight to Alena. Now, the team had double their chance of getting Alena attention. Both did everything they could, but again, she did not notice or show any interest in the two.
“Shit, there are just too many people trying to catch her attention, there is no way Allan and Liam could stand out” Luna said.
“No that’s not it, it doesn’t seem like she got any interest in any of the men there at all” Maria said.
“So does this mean that it’s your and Luna's turn?” Kyle asked.
“Ha ha very funny Kyle, now is not the time for a joke, if they both fail what should we do, should we just break the door of her bedroom and steal the box or should we abandon the mission ?” Maria said.
“We can’t just break in, it would cause too much noise, the mansion is still heavily guarded, there is no way nobody would not hear the noise of someone breaking the door of Miss Alena room. Not to mention, someone could have just walked by and saw that the door was broken and opened wide before we could get out of here.” Luna said.
“So are we gonna abandon this mission before it’s too late?” Maria asked.
“No we are going for plan C” Kyle said as he walked right toward Alena.
“Plan C? What the hell is that, there is no plan C” Luna spoke.
Luna and Maria stood by and saw Kyle stepped through the man that was in front of Alena, including Allan and Liam, spoke to her in like just a couple of seconds and then turned his back and left immediately after.
“What the hell was that?” Luna and Maria said. Then in the astonishment of both of them, Alena went right after Kyle. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?” they spoke that out loud.
Allan and Liam whose faces looked as surprised as Luna and Maria were, walking back to the team.
“What the hell did he just do?” Maria said.
“You wouldn’t believe us even if we told you, he told us that he would leave the key at the table near the entrance to the garden, get the key there and leave it back before he returned” Liam said.
“You guys still haven’t answered our questions” Luna said “How the hell did he get Alena attention ?”.
“Ok, I will tell you what happened, but to be honest even we did not believe what we just saw”. Allan replied.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.

Ruthless Reincarnator
Its a first try at a different approach of the "i've reincarnated in another world" genre. No "i wanna go back home", or "i wanna make friends" stuff. In fact, the most emotional moments will probably happen in the Intermission chapters. On the bright side, i have already completed the main story! And it is a short one, of course. Only 100~~something pages long (i'm writting the intermission chapters for now) and every chapter shall be mostly 1 or 2 pages long only. So everyone should have something to read for the next 2 months or something. Obs: I have also opened a Patrenon. I intend on posting 1 chapter every day and asking for donations in case people want more. Why ? ´cause i like money. Have a good reading everyone.
