《The Abandoned Disciple》Chapter 24(old)

It was an early morning. Blue sky and white clouds encompassed the sky. Spirit beast birds soared across the sky and chirped happily as flapped their majestic wings.
Light shined through a window and landed directly on the eyes of a little boy.
“So…. bright…” the little boy sleepily said.
He shifted his head slightly away from the light so that he could continue sleeping.
“ Bwaaaaaah!” He jolted awake, screaming. He breathed heavily trying to piece together what was happening. “This….Where am I?” He looked around the room which gave him a sense of familiarity.
“You are awake? Do you need to go to the washroom? Sister will go with you.”
Beside the little boy was a little girl who had been sleeping by his side. Her hand had been holding onto his tightly the entire time. She rubbed her eyes with her free hand, and yawned very softly. She had jet black hair in a bobbed hair style. Her eyes were fairly large and had a chestnut color to them.
“Who is this girl?”
He looked at her confusedly. Yet, he could not take his eyes off of her. For some reason she looked extremely familiar to him as if he had known her in the past….
As he continued to think about it, he suddenly remembered something. His eyes instantly widened and his mouth dropped in shock.
“S-s-sister...?”
“Yea?” she said as she tilted her head.
“…..”
Seeing as her brother did not have any follow up question, she pulled him out of bed. They walked out of the room and headed down a small hall.
This confused little boy was obviously Relic who managed to come back to a time when he was a little boy.
The entire time he could not even process what was happening. Right in front of him was a person he had not seen in many, many years. In fact, he would have a hard time recalling much of anything prior to his meeting his master. All he knew was that his village was destroyed by a group of cultivators and that he was the only survivor.
“How could this be, have I travelled back in time?” He felt like he was in a daze.
“Okay, you can go first.”
They stopped in front of a washroom with a toilet right in the middle.
“Ah, ok.” He unconsciously replied
“……”
“……”
“What’s the matter?” she asked.
“Well, it is a bit hard to go if you are holding my hand.”
“What are you talking about? We have been doing this for four years now. Little brother, are you still sleeping?” she had a queer look on her face
“Well I…. I believe I can handle going to washroom myself.”
The girl instantly had an expression of shock. “Are you sure? This will be the first time in four years that you have done something like this.”
“four years since I ‘ve gone to the washroom by myself? I don’t remember much of my childhood but surely this wasn’t how I was, right?” He could not help questioning himself.

The little girl let go of his hand as slowly as possible, as if she was scared he would regret his decision. He saw the weird expression on this girl. It was as if she could not believe this was actually happening.
“Is it that weird for me to go to the washroom by myself?” he thought.
He went inside the washroom and closed the door behind him.
He suddenly reminisced about his younger days when his master first picked him up. Sure he had asked his master to go with him to the washroom on several occasions. However, it wasn’t too long until he was able to go himself.
As he finished up he saw there was a mirror hanging on one of the walls in which he saw a small boy.
“This is me?!”
He slowly touched his face in surprise. In the mirror was a fairly cute little boy which looked an awful lot like the little girl standing outside the washroom. He had black hair and brown eyes much like the girl. Even their hair styles matched! If not for his sister being distinctly cuter, people probably could not even tell the difference.
“I can’t believe it…. I have a twin sister….”
He took a few moments to process everything before deciding to finish up. Opening the door, he found the little girl crying in tears.
“Little brother, you are finally getting better!”
She embraced him as her tears fell.
Relic was dumbstruck. Since when did going to the washroom require the tears of others?
“Sister, what are you crying for? Someone of my age is surely capable of going to the washroom by themselves, right?” he smiled wryly
“En!” she nodded her head happily.
She took his hands and dragged him to the dining room. Inside, sat two people. These two were the parents of the twin siblings.
”Mom, dad, little brother is finally able to go to the washroom all by himself!”
Her excitement made Relic instantly flush red.
“I just went to the washroom! Why are you the one so excited?”
“Ah, that’s good news, son, you are finally recovering.” The mother walked over to the kids and gave them both a hug. Paying close attention, one could see tears start to well up in her eyes.
The mother had long brown hair and looked like the adult version of what his sister would look like when she grew up, albeit some color differences. She was beautiful to a certain degree.
The father gave out a small nod. He had short straight black hair and a fairly rough face. His body was also a bit fat from the looks of things.
Relic felt a bit weird but returned the hug back to this woman.
As he sat down at the table, Relic finally had time to organize his thoughts.
“Have I really travelled back to the past, and if so, how did this happen?” He slowly chewed on his food as he questioned his circumstances.

He then seemed to remember something important. “What happened to master?! Did she also return to the past with her memories?! Will I be able to meet her again!?”
His head swirled with questions which increasing made his heart thump harder. Excitement soon over took his confusion. Right now, he had been given a heaven sent opportunity to help his master before any bad things happened to her.
“A second life, a second chance. I can do it! I can save master!”
Suddenly, he felt as if he could hear a faint voice in his head.
~If we meet in the next life and I am still a women and you are still a man, will you come and find me and marry me? ~
“Master….” He murmured to himself. Tears welled up in his eyes.
His sister became worried when she saw Relic suddenly tear up. She quickly grasped his hand with hers.
“Don’t worry little brother, big sister is here, there is nothing to worry about.” She looked at him resolutely and gave a reassuring smile.
“No I…. En, thanks” he smiled back.
He assessed the situation and tried to recall his past. The area they lived in was called Heaven’s peak. Contrary to the impressive name, this was actually just a village located in an encirclement of mountains. The mountains protected the village from the various spirit beasts who wished to do them harm. Although the place was labeled as a village it was actually vibrant and filled with an abundance of food. It was more accurate to call this place an agricultural zone as two-thirds of the family here dealt with the business of farming and all own some part of land. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say every one living here had some sort of connection to farming.
Relic’s family owned a small restaurant which did fairly well and was actually popular among wanderers and tourists. Though, no matter how he tried to remember, he could not remember much about his family and their personalities.
“Ah well, it doesn’t really matter if I don’t remember my family. I can just reacquaint myself with them with time. The important thing is to quickly get strength and power so that I can help master!” There was nothing that could sour his mood right now.
His sister continued to look at him with confusion. For some reason her brother had been acting very weird all morning.
After eating breakfast, his sister dragged him through the village to play with the other kids.
The two children were old enough to help in their parent’s restaurant but because of Relic’s condition and the responsibility of his sister to look after him, they were not required to do so.
“Sophie!” his sister shouted to a girl who was currently with a group of small kids.
“Ah, Hana and Little Relic, glad to see you two.” The little girl smiled back. “You’re just in time, we are about to play hide and seek!”
“Hide and seek, great, little brother we finally have a game we can play together!”
Relic saw the look of excitement on his sister’s face and couldn’t help but have an awkward expression.
“Sister, actually I have something to do. I will meet you later in the afternoon.” He said as he smiled.
He tried to walk away only to be pulled back. His sister’s hand never once let go of his since this morning.
“Little brother, you seem to have developed a sense of humor overnight. It seems like you want to leave sister’s side.” She said sarcastically.
“Uh, well, sister I really do have things I have to do.”
He really did have many things he needed to prepare for. He needed to start earning money so that he could fund himself to get stronger. He also needed to make the appropriate preparations for when he meets his master as well as a way to deal with the cultivators that would eventually destroy his village. To waste time on playing games was just something he could not afford to do.
She sighed and said, “I guess I have no choice, I will see you next time Sophie.”
“No, that’s really is ok, I can go myself!” he quickly tried explain.
However, it was already too late as she waved good bye to her friend and began to walk away with Relic.
“She is too stubborn! I don’t even understand why she keeps holding my hand! I’m practically a hundred years old!”
“Where are we going?” she asked.
Relic stopped for a moment and began to debate with himself over what he should do.
At the rate things were going, she was never going to leave him. He couldn’t tell her to just leave either as he isn’t too sure of her temperament. He didn’t want to strain their relationship. However, if she continued to bother him, he would never get anything done.
Finally, he decided to do the most logical thing.
“Sister, can we go somewhere private, I would like to discuss something with you.”
“Ok”
Seeing her brother act so serious was a first for her. In fact, ever since he woke up it was like he was a different person. Usually he was a cowardly boy who always hid behind her. If she tried to let go of his hand he would use every ounce of strength he had to hold on.
They made their way back home which was currently empty. Their parents had already left for work.
He looked in her eye and spoke solemnly: “This will come as a shock, but the truth is, I’m from the future and for some reason, my mind had travelled back into the past and into the mind of my 8 year old self.”

Life is Feudal
No OP stuff, status bars, levels or skills. This story is in favour of more realistic setting in a world of humans and various monsters. "Behind the mask of the assertive, resolute facade that employs ruthless routes at any given moment, lies the frail, anxious heart that were once but a puny human. Reviled and revered by many, none would ever know my true allegiance lies within myself, merely trying to survive this mess." Just the life of a grumpy man child living in a terrible piece of shit or a desolate state in which I call an alternate historical take on medieval Europe. Living as a peasant who is forced to take up arms to defend his own kin. This story grants an insightful take on the life of people living under constant danger, from vying nobles who commit atrocities in the name of justice, eager nations and barbarians aiming to take a piece of the bountiful land and mythical divine monsters who resembles a walking catastrophe in any possible way. [If you're easily offended by alternate-history religion and cultural practices, then you shouldn't read this.]
