《The Abandoned Disciple》Chapter 24 (cont)

Within a vast green forest, miles away from any other settlements, stood a lone but grand mountain. It towered over all and seemed to stretch towards the clouds in the sky. On top of this grand mountain was an unassuming town which was getting ready to start the new day.
This town was currently bustling with activity. While the adults worked, children could be seen playing in an open area on the streets. Their laughter echoed out and smiles could be seen by the nearby adults who continued on with their hard working day.
Underneath a large brown tree, were two kids who sat as they gazed at the other children playing with each other.
These two were twins, a boy and a girl, almost identical in appearance. They both had short jet black hair with chestnut brown eyes. There wasn’t anything unique about them; if anyone were to look at them they would think they were only ordinary little children.
As they continued to watch the other children playing, a small girl walked over and stood in front of them.
“Hana, you should play with us instead of sitting under this tree all day.” The small girl said.
When the small girl appeared in front of them the twin brother instantly hid his face in his sister’s clothes and began shivering in fright.
“Sophie,” Hana, the twin sister, gave the girl a smile. She was elated to see her friend but she then turned her head to her shivering brother.
Hana patted her brother's head and said, “Thank you, Sophie, but I have to take care of my little brother. Maybe when he is a bit better I can come join you. ” she gave an apologetic smile.
“V-very well” Sophie sighed before glaring at the brother. For some reason she had a slight look of disgust on her face when she looked at the little boy who hung so closely to his sister.
After Sophie left, Hana took out two box lunches. “Brother, are you hungry?”
The brother nodded.
She opened up the boxes to reveal a variety of ingredients which she prepared early in the morning. She picked up her chopsticks and lifted a piece of fish towards her brother. He opened his mouth and began to chew the food.
She caressed his hair as he ate and gave him a smile. When they finished their lunch, the boy laid down on his sister's lap and went to sleep as she kept watch over him.
As the day went on the sky grew darker and gray clouds suddenly began to form. A roar of thunder was suddenly heard and droplets of rain dropped from the clouds. People slowly packed up whatever they were doing and began head back to their homes.

“Brother, it is time to wake up, it is raining.” Hana gently nudged her brother awake.
The boy slowly opened his eyes and blinked in confusion. “Where am I?” the boy suddenly asked.
The girl instantly gasped in shock. “B-brother…you are able to speak again?” tears fell as she hugged him.
“Who are you?”
The girl froze and looked at him with concern. “B-brother, it’s me, Hana, are you feeling okay?”
The boy tilted his head in confusion. He turned his head to see houses surrounding them in the distance. “We are…in a town?” He then looked up to the darken clouds drizzling down rain.
“How am I still alive?” he muttered to himself sorrowfully.
Hana was speechless as she saw tears well up in her brother’s eyes. She had been with her brother all her life, yet she had never seen her brother like this. This was also the first time he had spoken something to her in years and she just couldn’t get over her shock
Unsure what to do she embraced her brother. “Brother, don’t be sad, sister is here.”
“Eh…” The boy seemed to suddenly snap out of whatever thought was holding his mind. He stared at the girl he saw when he first awoke. As he continued to stare at her he suddenly seemed to feel as if he had seen her somewhere before.
Just as he was going to ask her a question she grasped his hand. “We should probably head home before the rain gets heavier.” She dragged him behind her and ran towards their home which was at the corner of the town.
They entered into a cozy little home located near the edge of the town. Inside, the home gave the feeling of a very common household.
The girl continued to hold his hands and dragged him towards the back of the home, towards a room housing a bath. She quickly set a fire underneath the wooden tub and the water soon began to boil.
The boy was still within his thoughts when she suddenly began to unbutton her clothes. His eyes bulged out and he staggered back a step, slamming the door.
The girl suddenly looked at her brother and knocked herself on her head as if she forgot something. “Ah, sorry, you must be cold, you should go in first.” She said.
With a swift motion she unbuckled his clothes. She then bent down and …
“S-stop! What are you doing!” he yelled. If the boy was still drowsy before he was awake now. He held up his pants and clasped the girl by the shoulders before shoving her out of the bathroom. “I’ll be going in first!” the boy shouted behind the closed door. The entire time the girl stood stupefied by just what happened, unable to utter a sound.

With the Hana gone, the boy sighed and slowly entered into the heated waters as he processed everything that was happening. “I don’t understand what is happening, why does that girl keep calling me brother?” He instinctively looked to his hands which were now smaller than how he remembered. He had been pondering a thought since he first opened his eyes in this place. “Has my soul moved into another body?” However, even as the thought of a second life crossed his mind he didn’t smile. “Will I never see master again…”His mood began to sour once more.
After a while he got out of the bath and opened the door to a sobbing girl. She leaped forth and embraced him as she cried out tears of joy. “You really are getting better!”
The boy was unsure how to react. He didn’t know what the story between this girl and whoever’s body his soul currently inhabited was. He could only nod and return the hug to the strange little girl.
“Sister, brother is really getting better. I wish to discuss somethings with you.” The boy suddenly said.
The girl’s tears seemed to flow even harder when she heard him and nodded.
They sat down around a wooden table. Based on the way his sister acted towards him and the way she kept acting surprised by the simplest things he does, he surmised that her brother must have been in a dysfunctional state which required her constant supervision. “The original owner of this body must have been sick prior to me inhabiting it.” He contemplated.
He quickly thought of a simple lie for him to extract information. “I feel like my head has suddenly become less hazy and I can now think clearly. However, I cannot remember much about these past few years, not even about you.” He said concerned.
“You mean you can’t remember anything?” she asked astonished.
He nodded in response.
“I see…” she had a worried expression but as she thought about it, a smile appeared on her face. “No, it’s fine, as long as brother is better now.”
“Mn, since you can’t remember me I can tell you, I’m your big sister. We were both born on the same day, though I was actually born a few minutes before you.”
“So we are twins…” the boy nodded.
“My name is Hana, and our family names are the Astor’s. We live with our parents who run a small restaurant in a town called Heaven’s Peak.”
“Wait…Heaven’s peak.... and the Astors?”
“That’s right.”
“Heaven’s peak…isn’t that the place master first picked me up when I was by myself? And we are called the Astor’s?! No…It can’t be.” He shook the thought out of his head. “It has to be a coincidence!”
“Do you at least remember your name?” Hana suddenly asked
He shook his head.
“Your full name is Relic Moofu Astor.”
Relic felt like a strike of lightning coursed through his body. His body jolted upwards and he ran out of the house.
“Brother, where are you going!” Hana frantically chased after him.
Relic did not stop and continued outside in the pouring rain. Even though there were many houses in his vision, he could see an open space which showed an endless green forest.
“Have I...” He ran towards the scene of endless forest.
When Hana told him his name something clicked in Relic’s mind. His exact name, the familiar feelings he has been having, and the name of this town. He remembered something his master had told him long ago. When he was but a child, his entire town was destroyed and everyone was killed, everyone but a little boy. His master found him shortly after and took him in as her disciple. She taught him many things and led him down the road of immortality.
At some point in his life, Relic had completely forgotten his time before his master had taken him in. For him, his time with his master was his entire life. However, on one occasion he asked his master where he had come from.
~”I found you on top a large mountain town within one of the desolate regions. When I arrived the entire town was destroyed but I was still able to find you underneath some rubble. I suppose if the town was still around, you would be able to see a grand scene, with lush green forest all around as you stood high in the sky.”~
Those words were what jolted Relic to run, to see what lied beyond this town.
Relic panted as he soon stood in front of a brown fence, stopping just at the edge of the mountain’s ledge. His eyes shined when he saw a sea of green all around. At the same time, the rain happened to stop and a rainbow appeared, displaying an exquisite scene.
His sister shortly caught up, also catching her breath. “W-why…did you run.” She panted. However, she quickly became speechless when she saw Relic with a smile while also having tears fall from his eyes.
“Master… I will see you soon.” He dropped to his knees and kowtowed to the heavens.

For those unfamiliar with my writing style, Second Chances was my first attempt at writing. I'm not sure how much I learned in the process, except that readers get angry when you mess with characters they like! Warnings - I tend to info dump. I know I do this, I like slice of life novels that take time to unfold. So don't expect action, murder, and battles in every chapter, it isn't going to happen I prefer the first-person narrative. I will do an occasional POV shift, but it will never be done mid-chapter. I hope you enjoy the story, comments, ratings, and favorites are greatly appreciated!

Is Lucas Destined to Die in the New World?
Lucas imagined himself doing grander things in life; after all, he put in his own blood, sweat, and tears, and got himself a master's degree in English. Maybe he'd be the next best-selling author, or maybe the most popular late night TV show host. However, life didn't give him anything more than a management position at the local burger joint. Day in and day out, he flipped burgers, swept floors, and made weekly schedules that his employees ignored. All he had known for the past five years of his life was pure misery. Then after one night of drunken revelry, he found himself in an unfamiliar world, but he knew all the gimmicks. He knew these stories had quirks he could manipulate- he could put all his stats into magic and become the best wizard in the world, or he could dump all his stats into strength and become a veritable warrior. But once again, just like Earth, this new world seemed to have different plans for him. Instead, he was given a luck stat of 0 and a skill that forced him into danger where there should have been none. Why is this nerdy, magical paradise trying to kill him? Content warnings are there to give me some creative legroom later. There's not an excess of any gruesome content in the story, and what is there is tastefully sprinkled in. This is a LitRPG. Updates are twice a week on Mon/Fri plus some extras here and there.

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)

My Roleplay Server
Given the chance to reincarnate in a world with two wishes, who would say no? Especially when you could live a life you've always wanted. This is supposed to be a relaxed story about a man fulfilling the dreams he couldn't in his first life. There will still be drama and more adult things, but overall it will be pretty chill. The action of the story will come in when he finishes making the server. As of right now, 4/6/2022, it's looking like this is going to be a slower-paced novel. Hopefully, in the future, I can get the pacing downright. This is my first released story, so feel free to give me all your constructive criticism. I do plan on finishing this story. Please point out any mistakes you see. This novel is also on Webnovel and Scribble Hub.
