《Bathilda the Bat》Who's Got Skill?
Before setting off, Bathilda quickly checks the Brat's once again and is sickenedmd to her stomach by what she sees. The other five remaining monsters are feasting on the flesh of the one who died to her poison.
'Why are they eating it? Food can't be that scarce, right?' after her rhetorical question is posed, Bathilda realises she hasn't eaten anything herself yet and also hasn't seen anything she would be happy to ingest. Wondering how long it will be before the hunger pains arrive, if she manages to beat the mice her next goal will be to find a source of sustenance for when she needs it.
She doesn't want to add starvation to long list of terrible occurrences that keep befalling her.
'Oh, those skill points! I should spend them, but how do I do that? Let's see. Skills! Nope. Skill Tree! Nope. Skill Points!' after calling out words she know to be associated with the action she wants to perform, Bathilda's third attempt opens a new window for her. As she thinks about scrolling down through the many different categories the operation is performed automatically and moves with her will.
'That is pretty awesome,' feeling like a kid in a candy store, Bathilda spends the next few minutes scrolling through different sections without purchasing anything. She is already broadening her knowledge of this new world just by seeing the names some of the skills that can be performed here.
After scrolling past hundreds of skills and techniques, many of which would be extremely beneficial to Bathilda, she finally stops when she hits the category that seems to benefit her primary objective.
Healing.
A large amount of skills 'and magic' that would be able to help in the prevention of death or disease are written out before her causing her mind to race.

'Is this how I'll help people here, with magic? That... Is... Awesome! Pa-chew. Pa-chew. I know that isn' t the right noise but who here is going to tell me any different? The Brat's? I doubt it. They are going to become the fuel for my evolution after I spend these points.'
Spending a further ten minutes going over the whole section carefully, Bathilda is unable to purchase a single healing skill. In the top right corner of the list she is lusting over, the number 4 is represented in its own separate box. Nowhere does it show her available skill points but it is the only number that doesn't move and she curses her current lack of information. She also curses the healing spell she was attempting to purchase before she was met with failure.
Healing: 5 Skill Points
Heals minor wounds and bleeding. This spell is not effective on large wounds or infections. Costs 4 mana per use.
Thrilled at the thought of being able to use magic in the future, Bathilda shelves the currently unattainable spell in her mind for future purchase. She would have liked to save the points but she needs every advantage she can get for her hit and run strategy.
Moving sorrowfully past the healing part of her list, Bathilda keeps on until she finds another section labelled Passive Skills. Inside this group, most of the skills cost a single point each. After much deliberation with herself, Bathilda spends all four points on three new passive skills.
Iron Body: Each level of this skill raises the user's defence by 5%.
Swift Wing: Each level of this skill raises the user's movement speed by 5%.
Identify: Each level of this skill adds more information to the user's field of view.
Identify was the skill that cost double points. Bathilda saw it as a valuable tool in her fight for survival. The ability to see how strong someone is will surely keep her alive, or so she believes. With her purchase complete, Bathilda's echolocation streams new information to her brain as it has decided to name everything in sight.

Cave wall, cave floor, cave wall, cave floor, stone, root, root, stone, Grickit, Brat, Brat, Brat... On and on it went, listing everything around. At least Bathilda had discovered she was in a cave from the influx of information she had just received.
'What's a Grickit?' she questions before raising herself from her seated position.
Bathilda turns to the seperating hole only to stop in panic. Across the way, ten red balls of light can be seen through the darkness and if she didn't have Echolocation, Bathlinda would have no idea what are. Luckily for her, the skill she has used since her arrival on this world shows her the carnivorous faces of the Brat's that have finished their meal and followed her here. With luck being on her side in bundles this time, not a single Brat can leave the tunnel they have traversed due to a lack of floor between them and their prey.
'Ha, what are you going to do now dickheads' taunting her aggravated enemies, Bathilda dances on her side of the large drop in satisfaction at the irritated Brat's.
Her joyous mood is cut short as she sees a newly labeled stone moving through the air on its own, momentarily catching her off guard. Hitting her clean in the wing, Bathilda's mood spikes once again as she stops taunting her opponents and makes a hasty retreat back down her original tunnel. More stones fly through the air declaring their arrival by name as Bathilda dodges the best she can. Scurrying round the corner she stops to rest just before the split passage that the Millisnake had chased her down.
Even though she is out of sight, the Brat's don't give up their quest to stone their enemy and continue to hurl whatever they can find over. Even though they can't see the enemy who killed one of their own, forcing them to feast on his flesh before anything else did, they can sense that she's still there. The Brat's have very sensitive noses and they can tell she hasn't left the area yet.
With a constant bombardment raining down, Bathilda has once again found her plan in tatters. The horrible brown rodent things now guard the entrance to their nest so she decides to investigate the direction the Millisnake came from.
'Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?'

HUD: Wargame (Sci-Fi GameLit)
★★★★★UNFRIGGENBELIEVABLE!!!!!! "HUD: Wargame is a sci-fi GameLit worth reading." -TienSwitch ★★★★★Rock-solid FPS GameLit. "Nic - the main character - is an ambitious, hyper-competitive perfectionist, and the story fortunately handles him correctly in that it does not push these traits too far." -Akaso ★★★★★This is a good one! "This is one of those stories where you read the first few paragraphs and can just tell that the author has the chops to tell a story. It's engaging and the rules are well thought out and clearly explained. The action is punchy and exciting. Anyway, read it." -HonourRae In the future, everything is a game.
