《Bathilda the Bat》Bathilda's First Fight

Skill: Flight has reached Level 3
After finally reaching the top of the hole she had fallen down, Bathilda recasts Echolocation to shed some light on the path she has yet to travel. She knows the other side holds an enormous monster in one direction, and the millisnake came from the other, so neither of those two routes seem feasible to her.
The new tunnel seems to be occupied by half a dozen mice. They appear to have made their nest in a large room not too far away from her current location. Knowing full well that she must now kill others to increase her level so that she can evolve again, Bathilda is carefully playing the situation out in her head.
'I should fly in there first. Yep, that's happening. Then what? If I try to use my poison fang and chomp down on one of them, the others might try and swarm me. Although, I'm pretty sure that mice are the preyed upon by bats, which would mean that I'm their natural predator. That might just be by Earth standards though. The best case scenario is that they scatter and spread out when they see me. That way I should be able to pick them off one by one. What if they're at a higher level than me though? Fuck it. They're smaller than me so I'm doing this. I've gotta grow somehow and worse case scenario... I can fly. I'll just run away if shit hits the fan," even with a solid escape plan it doesn't stop the panic from returning. She's never actually been in a fight before and the damage she has taken today is more than she has endured throughout her entire previous life.
Bathilda's little heart thumps erratically as she begins her ascent toward the the top of the tunnel. She doesn't make much progress however and has only just realised that moving forward is completely different than going upwards. With a new manoeuvre to master it takes her another few minutes worth of practice going up and down the short section of tunnel, earning another level up for Flight in the process, before she is ready to take on her first true challenge 'The Mice'.

Now confident in her ability to move freely through the air, she once more heads toward the roof before silently and stealthily gliding down the tunnel adjusting her altitude when it's needed.
Entering the adjoining room, Bathilda approaches the first mouse laid down behind a large rock. For some reason this mouse is separate from the rest of the group. More rat than mouse, the small dark figure notices her approach and cries out before standing up on two tegs.
'What the fuck? Since when have rats been able to stand up?' still gliding forward as the distance between them decreases faster than she now wants, it's too late to abort and Bathilda commits fully to the assault. Hoping speed will be her crowning advantage she moves as fast as she can and barrels towards the dirty brown rat-mouse-man, fully intent on taking a chunk out of whatever it is with her poison laced chomp.
As Bathilda moves within what can only be assumed to be striking distance she readies herself to clamp down on her target. It's not until a large paw smashes into her face, sending her tumbling across the floor, that she actually find out why they call it striking distance.
After numerous bounces she finally crashes into one of the many large rock scattered around, stopping her in place. Afterwards, she is once again shown a notification about how much damage she has sustained.
HP: 9/30
The horrible rat that had just bitch slapped 70% of her health away in one quick swipe drops down to all four legs and let's out another long cry. In the back of her mind alarm bells are ringing along side the accompanying pain urging her to flee. At that moment Bathilda hears another cry which is shortly followed by a second, then a third and before she can realise it, all six mice have gathered to take down their opponent together. Knowing that death is a certainty if she is hit even one more time, Bathilda doesn't hang around to wait for her would be prey turned predator and she quickly flies away before anything can even get near her. Pain, piled on top of more pain is all the feels, thinks and knows as she heads back down the tunnel she came in through.

'What the hell was that? Was that fucking rat on steroids or something? Why was it so strong? And what was that stupid war-cry shit about? Is it just me? Am I just that weak?' feeling dejected over her scenario failing miserably, Bathilda crosses the large hole seperating the the two tunnels before landing in a pained huff. The escape plan, that she had decided would be easy, actually turned out to be rather excruciating.
There wasn't as much pain as when she fell down the very hole she has just crossed, but it was almost at that stage. Now alone, both her wings were in agony from their battering against the rock and her head was still banging. Sitting motionless on the floor, Bathilda keeps a wary eye on her surroundings.
'I honestly wish I could just call Florence now. I don't see anyway that I'll be able help people in my current situation. I mean seriously, I can't even beat a rat half my size. Well, I suppose it was bigger than me when it stood up. What the hell was that about anyway? Why is everything so strong!? Arghh, I hate this stupid world!'
The very moment Bathilda curses the new planet she has been struggling on since her arrival, she's hit with a soft healing feeling and a much needed notification to go with it.
Brat has been slain
Bathilda has reached Level 4
Skill: Poison Fang has reached Level 3
Skill: Echolocation has reached Level 5
Echolocation+ : The range of this skill has been doubled
'Ha... Haha... Hahahaha.' feeling as good as the moment of her arrival, Bathilda begins to form a new strategy to defeat the Brats.
'I'm definitely not going to stick around for a fair fight now I know how tough they are. It's time for the good old hit and run tactic.'

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic

Chaos uploaded
At year 2100, there was a new game that was being developed: "Realms of chaos" With cutting edge technology, realistic physics(At least, as far as fantasy-medieval worlds goes), and immersion to the point one could believe it was real, it is destined to become world-wide famous. Two siblings, Nysa and Inas, received the right of beta-testing the game, along with other players...although with the beta-test, many difficulties came together with it: Unfair enemies, lack of clues, lack of linear paths, and above all, no set of rules of how one should play. Nysa, being the less competitive out of the two siblings, has decided to play the game just for fun.But little does she knows how much the action of a single player, who just wants to explore and have fun, can change the realm of chaos. This is my first story, and I'll upload whenever I manage to get through the writers' block.Due to college starting, uploads might be erratic. Feel free to review and comment!
