《You Broke Me First》Ch.41 - Choice of death

Izuku has so many twists and turns in his path. So many bumps and walls that lead him astray. He's so lost. At first, like anyone else, his dream was to be a hero that saved people. Then he had doubts about everything and wanted to just not exist. Once targeted for not being fit to be a hero again, he was turned into a sort of vigilante. And now, he's a villain.

Funny how one can change so many times and yet still not get it right. Maybe, there is no right change. Maybe Izuku was right and he shouldn't have existed. But since he's here now, since he has so many labels, since he doesn't know what he wants, he's going for the easier choice.

The choice of death.

Though that always was his wish. But this time he has a plan.

"Don't target innocent bystanders but make yourselves seem like a threat to draw in the heroes. Possibly even the attention of the government and commission."

A plan where those who deserve to die will and those who want to die will have their wish granted.

"The heroes think we're here to rule the world for ourselves. They're right. But my goal is to clear out those who think they're in control."

A goal that he'll reach no matter who gets in his way.

"The final battle. Where everyone at the top falls and everyone at the bottom convinces those in the middle that there can be a truce. There will be an end where if you die, it will be seen as only a passing and not as a loss or gain."

A dream he's finally making come true.

"We'll leave a leveled field that will be our new beginning. We take back the world and we make sure there are no mistakes left."

"And what do we or even the heroes get out of this?"

Izuku turned to Shigaraki.

"You will get your war of course. You will finally let out all your frustrations and level each other out. Isn't that what this is all about?"

Hawks rose a brow.

"You're insinuating that an all-time war is a petty rivalry and they should just what? Duke it out and that's it?"

"That's one way to put it."

Dabi laughs.

"Midoriya, we're talking about lives that were taken, from both sides! And haven't you noticed that the commission as well as AOF are a bit too powerful?"

Izuku stared for a moment. He had an answer, he just didn't want to out anyone of their reasons for being here. Or maybe... No. It wouldn't work out.

"Yes, lives were taken, but only because of this rivalry in the first place. As for the commission and AFO, they will be too focused on taking each other out that they won't even notice that those from their own sides are working for an even bigger plan."

Hawks frowned.

"Izuku, the commission is already seeing you as a threat, if they catch even a word of this, you'll be revealed as a threat to all Heroes, Villains, and civilians alike. You'll have a target painted on your back. Those around you will have a target on their back."

"I won't let that happen."

"How? How are you going to keep everyone safe? How are you going to make sure that this is a foolproof plan?"

There was a tense silence.

"Hm. What if caring too much about the how is why everyone has failed in fulfilling this?"

Izuku paused to consider the winged hero.

"The plan here is to continue with the war and set the playing field for the actual enemy. And everyone will be safe as long as they play along. You are one of the few wild cards that could possibly screw all this up, so, you tell me Hawks. How are you going to keep everyone safe?"

Izuku leaned forward on the table in front of the hero and Dabi. Shigaraki hid a grin and Toga bounced in her seat excited. Hawks stayed quiet until he finally spoke up again.

"Can you trust everyone else?"

"No."

The hero gave an exasperated look.

"Which is why no one will know about this plan. Its stays between us five. Shigaraki will go about his villain take-over, and you will report back to the commission about whatever Shiggy is planning and to Shiggy about whatever the commission is planning."

Izuku smiled and scanned over everyone.

"As for Dabi, he'll keep an eye on our wild card, and Toga... Well, she will be Toga."

"Thanks."

Dabi scoffed but didn't disagree. Shigaraki and Toga all but smiled happily while Hawks could only stare at Izuku.

Izuku finally had his plan, his help, and now he just needed to deal with his loose strings. He glanced at Dabi with a sad look and the villain caught his eye.

"How about we call it a night or whatever? I'm beat and I'm sure our little Izukus fan club is worried sick."

He grinned getting up out of his chair and stretching.

"Fine, but meet back here tomorrow afternoon to go over my original plan so no one suspects anything."

Toga stood as well and skipped along with Shigaraki out of the building as she already got the hint to leave Izuku to Dabi.

As for Hawks, he stood as well but he looked at Izuku expectantly. Dabi rolled his eyes.

"What?"

"You all already knew about me being a spy."

Izuku nodded. Hawks shook his head.

"You were telling me that it was up to me if I told them weren't you?"

"Look, birdman, Izuku here wouldn't have said anything if he had doubts about you going out and telling everyone. He just wanted to let you know that you had a choice."

Dabi skimmed the hero from head to toe.

"Especially seeing as you don't really have one now."

Hawk's expression fell.

"I... I didn't want this, no. But it still feels like you're still not giving me much of a choice because you're basically implying that if I told everyone the real plan, people's lives would be in danger."

"If you knew me, you would know that I would make sure that never happened. The commission only sees me as a vulnerability. So even if you did tell them, they would underestimate me. As for AFO, he would have just had me killed and I would let him before he got to hurt anyone I care about."

Izuku said with a shrug of his arm.

"So you do have a choice. Whatever choice you make will have consequences sure, but doesn't every choice a person makes have some?"

Dabi placed an arm on Izukus shoulders and leaned into, or more like onto him. Hawks paused and finally smiled.

"I knew you were trouble, little bird. You have my loyalty then."

The hero mocked bowed, turned then left.

"So, what else?"

Dabi asked once the door to the warehouse closed with a clang. Izuku sighed.

"I'm not telling the others about this. But, Hawks was right about those around me having a target on their back. I have another plan to keep everyone safe."

"Oh?"

Dabi pulled away from him. Izuku gave a nod.

"Those who want nothing to do with this, I will set up a place where they will be kept until it's all over. I need your help."

"Hmm. And you're giving everyone this choice?"

Dabi leaned back on the table. Izuku crossed his arms and looked away from the man.

"You're going to hold your friends captive, huh?"

Izuku stayed quiet. Dabi chuckled.

"Sure, I'll help kidnap some kids."

"Don't say it like that."

Izuku whined slapping his forehead. Dabi laughed.

"Come on."

He pushed himself off the table and walked to the door.

"I wasn't lying about your fan club worrying."

Izuku shook his head and followed.

Izuku was walked back to the hotel by Dabi where he said his goodbyes and left. It was one in the morning so everyone would be asleep, though, he wouldn't hold it against them if someone was still up and probably scavaging for whatever food was there.

He walked into the lobby and looked around for any sign of life. Just a lamp in one corner barely lit up the empty area.

He made his way to the kitchen and grabbed his ice cream tub and a spoon. They were all staying on the 3rd floor so they'd know where everyone was when needed.

Izuku ate a spoonful of his favorite mint chocolate chip as he got to the 3rd floor. He strolled down the hall until he got to room 309.

Todoroki stayed in room 311 where their rooms were joined because Todoroki liked to sometimes sleep over.

Katsuki and Denki were in the rooms across from them, 310 and 312. Baster had his room next to Izukus as well but he usually slept in everyone's room in the second bed.

"Late night?"

Izuku froze like a dear caught in headlights. He turned around with the spoon still in his mouth and the ice cream tub in his hand.

"Hayyy Kami."

He tried to say with his mouth full. The blond smiled and stepped past Izuku and walked into his room.

"Sleepover?"

"Sure!"

Izuku undressed and put on a big t-shirt that he got from Dabi and some shorts Shoto bought for him. He's the one that's been buying their food, clothes, and whatever else they needed.

He plopped down onto the king bed and hugged the fluffy pillow to his face. Kaminari sat next to him eating from the ice cream tub.

"So..."

Kaminari lead off. Izuku sighed into the pillow and flipped over onto his back.

"I was just out catching up with a friend."

"Oh? Which friend?"

The blond rose a brow. Izuku lay on his side with his head leaning on his hand and looked at his friend.

"Just Dabi."

A pause and Kaminari finally cleared his throat.

"From the league?"

"Yeah."

Izuku studied his face.

"What did you guys do?"

"We just hung out and talked. I trust him."

Izuku shrugged. Kaminari frowned.

"Haven't you only known him for like three months?"

"Wow, it's been that long? Time sure does fly."

Izuku flipped onto his back again.

"Yeah, no kidding. We would be taking our exams right about now. So glad I don't have to worry about any of that."

The blond laughed not noticing the small furrow of his friends brows.

"Do you miss it?"

"School? Homework? Yeah right!"

Izuku only frowned and he sat up.

"I mean do you miss being there with your friends, and teachers, and... And becoming a hero. And what about your parents?"

Kaminari paused mid-scoop and looked at the ice cream in thought.

"Hm, I mean yeah I miss them all, but I like being here Bakugo, Shoto, and Baster. I like being here with you."

"Even at the cost of losing your high school years and the chance of being a future pro hero?"

Kaminari sighed and placed the tub on the side table and turned fully towards Izuku. He looked into those beautiful green eyes and grabbed both of Izuku's scarred hands.

"I knew what I was getting myself into. Becoming a hero was a dream of mine sure, but you proved that I don't need to go to some hero school or get a license to become a hero. And I may be missing out on the whole high school experience but so are you. Besides, the only thing I liked about high school was my friends, getting to use my quirk, and falling asleep to Mr. Aizawa's voice."

"You're not just saying this to make me feel better, right?"

Izuku asked doubtfully. Kaminari laughed pulling a hand from Izukus and placing it under Izukus's chin.

"Anything for you, Zuku.~"

Izuku huffed and Kaminari stared at the way his soft-looking lips formed a pout.

"Kami?"

But the blond wasn't listening and leaned forward. He softly kissed Izuku and slid his hand from the boy's chin to the back of his neck where his fingers got tangled into soft green hair.

Izuku eased into the kiss and held a hand on his arm and the other on his shoulder.

"Hmm.~"

Izuku smiled into the kiss and Kaminari pushed forward, pinning the boy on his back and cradling him with both his legs between Izuku's.

He dragged a hand down Izuku's side as he licked his bottom lip, asking for entrance. His other hand still held onto Izuku's face as the boy now had both his hands around the blond's neck.

"Ah~"

Izuku moaned softly making Kaminari grip his hip tightly and pull back from the kiss a little. He stared down at a flushed Izuku and realized the position they were in and what they were doing.

A lopsided grin formed on his lips as he began to feel hot. Izuku all but stared up at him dazed.

"You really are amazing, Izuku."

"Hm, you too, Kami."

The blond leaned down and kissed Izuku again. Izuku gladly accepted it and even opened his mouth this time.

They lay there in a small sweet make-out session when a knock sounded on the door and a tired Todoroki came in.

"Todoroki!"

Kaminari jumped away from Izuku with a red face. The dual-haired boy pouted.

"I want Izuku's kisses too."

Izuku all but laughed covering his eyes with his hands.

"I love you guys."

He mumbled. He then pulled his hands away and turned his head to look at his other friend.

"What do you need, Shoto?"

"I just wanted to sleep with you. But if you cant..."

"No, it's fine, you can sleep with me and Kami! You don't mind, right?"

Izuku looked at the blond who was still a red mess. Kaminari gave a tense nod and held his hands together in front of him.

Izuku noticed and looked down before realizing it.

"Aw, Kami~"

"Shush! I'll be right back to join you guys! Just leaves some space for me."

Kaminari bolted to the bathroom and slammed the door. Todoroki looked at him confused but just shrugged it off.

He walked over to the bed and slipped into the covers on the right side.

"I hope I get kisses too."

Izuku smiled softly and crawled to his side. He leaned in and placed a light kiss on the other's lips before pulling back.

"Good Night, Shoto."

"Hm, good night, Izuku."

Todoroki smiled and laid back on the pillow with the blanket pulled to his neck.

"Cuddles?"

Izuku asked.

"Hm."

Todoroki nodded and Izuku complied by slipping in next to the boy with his back pressed to his chest. The dual boy wrapped his arms around Izuku's waist and placed his face at the back of Izuku's neck.

"Sweet dreams."

Izuku yawned and Kaminari finally came back out. He turned the lamp off in the corner and then made his way around to the left side of the bed.

"Tired?"

"Yup."

Izuku smiled sleepily. Kaminari slipped in as well and scooted up to Izuku and rested their foreheads together.

"G'night."

"Night."
