"Catboo recognized your voice when Jack played your stream one day. Were you his first owner," I asked.

I looked down at Catboo, who had moved from where he was sitting. He was standing on his hind legs balancing on my shins. There was a sad emotion in his eyes, as if begging me not to let him go.

"Wait, is that why you tried to take him earlier," Jack asked.

Ben was still holding Tubbo in a death grip. She was still pissed off at him, but I wasn't sure why. If Catboo was Tubbo's cat, then he had a right to take him back.

"I- yeah. That cats mine," Tubbo said.

I thought I heard an old man say

Catboo jumped up on my shoulder and hissed at Tubbo. Tubbo seemed very shocked, and sad. Catboo buried his face in the crook of my neck which tickled, and I picked him up off my shoulder.

"Well, can I at least say goodbye," I whispered.

"Wait, you're giving him to me," Tubbo asked, astonished.

"He's a wonderful cat. I couldn't live with myself knowing I deprived you of him," I said.

Tomorrow ye will get yer pay

I walked over to a bench, and sat Catboo on my lap. He looked up at me with sad eyes, and mine were already beginning to fill with tears.

"Thank you so much, you were a wonderful ESA, and a better friend," I told him quietly. "But it's time to go back to your rightful owner."

I gently kissed his fuzzy head and brought him back to the alley.

"Here," I said, handing him to Tubbo. "Take care of him, okay?"

With that, I walked away before finally letting the tears roll down my cheeks.

I could hear Catboo meowing and growling, but it didn't matter now. Jack and Ben ran to catch up to me, and Jack handed me the collar that had Catboo's name and his address on it.

"I figured you could keep it, like a momento," Jack said quietly, handing it to me.

I wiped away the tears and thanked him. Then I started walking in a direction away from the alley, and away from Jack and Ben. I just wanted to be alone now.
