《Shadow》Part fourteen Patton's perspective

I am so excited for this date! I think as I run to my house to find an outfit. First, a date with Logan and now Virgil is back I swear, I'm the luckiest guy ever! I have a few different outfits picked out, one is a sweater with puppies and kittens and a pair of light blue jeans, another is a light blue polo with beige khakis and a grey cardigan around my shoulders, and the last one is just a super cute kitten shirt with little flowers on it. I think I am going to wear the sweater outfit, it might get chilly.
*ding* Logan just texted me that he is ready to go if I am, I quickly respond and open my door do find him. He is standing there with a light blue bouquet of flowers. "Roman indicated that a gift of flowers is common during courtship." He says, handing me the flowers. "Aww, Logie they are so pretty." I squeal happily.
We walk to a little coffee shop and find a table quickly before Logan goes and orders for us. "You look really nice LoLo," I say as he sits down, and he smiles a bit at the nickname. "Why thank you Patton, and you look very good yourself." He responds struggling a bit to speak normalish. "You don't have to try to not talk smart Lo, I like it when you talk smart it's cute. It doesn't really matter to me that I don't understand most of it, I still think it's cool." I tell him lightly as I place my hand on his. "Why thank you, Patton, you are very kind." He responds turning his hand over so he can hold mine. Before I can respond a barista calls Logan's name. He goes over and returns with a mug with tea and a hot chocolate with extra whip cream and a heart on top. "Aww, it's almost as cute as you." I squeal at him, booping his nose to punctuate. "Well that is very kind, you are very attractive as well."

We finish our drinks over a nice chat and then begin to leave to go to the small fair that's in town. There is a big Ferris wheel that looks like a ton of fun. "Logie, Ferris wheel." I squeal pointing and jumping up and down. "If it excites you that much then that indeed sounds pleasant." He says smiling at me. I grab his hand and drag him over, we hand the guy our tickets and wait for our turn. Soon enough our it's our turn and we get on placing the little blanket they have over our legs and cuddling up with each other.
"Did you know that the inventor of the Ferris wheel was born on Valentine's Day?" He asks wrapping his arm around me which I'm guessing was Roman's suggestion. "No, I didn't smarty pants." I respond snuggling up into him more. "My high levels of intelligence have nothing to do with my pants." He says confusedly. "It's a saying Logie." I tell him, he is really cozy and warm. "Ah, of course, that makes much more sense. I will add it to my vocabulary cards when I return to Virgil's house, as we all appear to be staying there anyhow." He tells me smiling happily. "I like that idea, your vocabulary cards are adorable." I say to him squeezing him lightly. "Thank you, Patton. If it is alright with you now, I would like to ask your permission to kiss you." He asks blushing like crazy.
"I give you my full consent to kiss me as much as you want," I say and before I can say more he places his hand behind my head and pulls me into a light and gentle but passionate kiss. After a little bit as we are nearing the top, he lightly bites on my bottom lip as if asking for permission to go a little further with the kissing which I gladly accept. As we reach the too there are fireworks that go off in the sky and in my heart. It feels perfect and like this moment was meant to happen. When we pull away for air I take a deep breath and then speak. "I love you so much, Logan." I curl back up with him. "I love you too Patton." He responds as he plays with my hair.

"I didn't think you would know how to do something like that," I tell him smiling, as we are getting close to the ground. "Roman gave me very detailed descriptions of several procedures typically used in courtship." He says calmly. "That sounds like him, he is very helpful even though he can be a bit of a royal pain." I say internally laughing at my pun. "Was that a pun based on his alternate identity?" He asks. "I think so if I understood your question," I respond grinning from ear to ear as we get off the ride.
"Would you like to wander the games section for a short while?" He asks grabbing onto my hand. "That sounds nice, maybe we can win me a puppy stuffie, since dogs are the pawfect animals." I say smiling at him as the tries to hide a small laugh. "Well I am rather skilled at physics and carnival games are entirely physics I believe that this will be rather simple." He states knowingly. "Well, then you can teach me. You can guide my hands and help me." I say, both asking and telling him. "That is acceptable." He says as I drag him to the games.
"So the trick with these ones is their trajectories are slightly off, these ones appear to fall down and to the right. And that would mean that you should aim?" He says at a water gun target shooty game. Trying to teach me the tricks of the game. "Up and to the left!" I say turning it on and hitting the target filling it quickly and winning. "Good job Patton, now what toy would you like?" He asks proudly. "Can I have that puppy?" I ask the game runner pointing at a stuffed-animal pomeranian in the bottom row. "Here you go, young man." He says handing it to me so it can join the stuffed-animal Siamese cat that I have.
We walk over to another game with darts. And he teaches me how to aim them. Since they are weighted weird, the only way that they can pop the balloons is if they fall downward at them. I end up winning him a fuzzy owl pillow and at some other games, we get Virgil a raven plushie and Roman a lion one to cuddle instead of each other.
When we return home I go to give Roman and Virgil their plushies but they are fast asleep. So I leave them on the couch and go cuddle with my Logie as we fall asleep.

Have you ever considered the differences between MMORPG characters and actual fantasy characters?Playing Legendary Tales Online again after many, many years an old, out of shape, and homely man decided he'd become the young, fit, and impossibly beautiful cleric/alchemist elf boy ""Healz Pleaze"" (better names and classes not being available)... and was rather surprised that he kept getting murdered by other players... for being an impossibly beautiful elf boy. And then he died for real from a heart attack. He somehow came back to life in a completely new and real fantasy world with its own fantasy rules... as an impossibly beautiful elf boy.Has his life turned around for the better? Probably not.Can he at least change that godawful NAME?What can an MMO character trapped in a Healer/Buffer role offer to a fantasy world? For that matter, what can a fantasy world offer to an MMO character?

An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
