《Shadow》Part fifteen Roman's perspective

My nighttime alarm goes off meaning that it's fighting time, I roll over to give Virgil a kiss on the forehead before I go. "Hey I'm really sorry but I have to go patrol for a while but I will be back for more snuggles soon," I whisper to him once he has awoken. "Fine but they had better be good snuggles Princey." He whispers back annoyed. I go put on my suit and use my fire powers to allow me to fly away.
After a bit, a clearly unamused Shadow flies over. "Listen some dick decided to wake me up and that's the only reason I'm out tonight so let's get to the fighting." He says annoyedly, but when he throws his first punch he starts flashing back and forth from himself into Remus like he is glitching. I create a shield of fire around me and break down crying.
"Hey, hey it's me Shadow okay I promise everything is okay. Remus is far away and he can't hurt you, please let me in so I can help you." He calls to me through the fire, and I don't know why but I trust him. I open up the ball of fire protecting me and he comes over and hugs me, holding me as I sob. "Do you want me to hold you looser, tighter or keep it the same?" He asks me caringly. "Tighter." I whimper out, causing him to squeeze me closely and make me feel safe for the first time in a long time.
It takes a while but he calms me down eventually. "Th-thank you." I stutter out. "Anytime now I'm going to fly you home and have a chat with Logan, also just a warning I think I saw Virgil going out for a walk shortly after you left." He tells me as he dramatically lifts me up into his arms bridal style. "Hey!" I shout in confusion before he starts to laugh at me, making me start laughing as well.

He flies me in through the open living room window, which like seriously what is it with us and leaving windows open. "Patton, Logan can I borrow you two for a sec?" He calls out into the house. "You know that probably scared Virgil into staying in his room right?" I ask him confusedly. "That's kinda the point, Patton is going to stay with you while we arrange for you to get some help." He tells me kindly. "Why are you being so nice?" I ask him because I am honestly confused. "I may be the villain but that doesn't make me evil as they say, there are two sides to every coin." He tells me before Patton and Logan walk out clearly exhausted. "Ahh, why is the spooky kiddo here?" Patton screams upon seeing us. "Patton if you don't mind staying with Roman, I must speak to Logan and Virgil momentarily. And before you ask I will stay visible to you guys at all times." Shadow says with a small smile. "Umm okay as long as the other kiddos aren't b-ottered by it." Patton says throwing a plush otter at us. "Not the time for puns Patton but that was very good," I say with a small chuckle.
Patton makes me sit down on the couch and wraps me up like a burrito before sitting down beside me. After a few minutes, he tries to start a conversation. "So kiddo, may I ask what happened?" He says quietly. "I-I kept seeing Remus and then, I think I had a panic attack." I say shakily, and he pulls me into a tight hug. "I've got you, he can't hurt you now or ever again." He tells me in an attempt to make me feel better. "Th-thank you, Patton. Dad?" I say cautiously. "Aww, you finally called me dad, kidoooooo!" He squeals in delight. "Well I thought that it would make you happy, and you being happy always cheers me up a bit." I tell him, smiling a little bit.

"Alright, so we have scheduled some time for you to talk to people who can help you. However, this does mean that we are all returning to school tomorrow." Logan states walking into the room followed quickly by Virgil. "Yeah and Shadow dipped already but he said goodbye!" Virgil chimes in attempting to seem as if he doesn't care. "Guys I really don't think he is as bad as we all thought," I say after a moment of awkward silence, only to be greeted with more of the same. "Of course he is bad, he is the villain. Guys come on he kidnaps people, just because he has a little bit of a conscience doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve everything bad that happens to him." Virgil shouts passionately. "Virgil," Logan warns cautiously. "But other than what he did to you two he hasn't really hurt anyone," Patton adds nervously. "He punched you!" Logan screams startling all of us. "I'm sorry, I'm just going to go." Virgil says walking away with his head down.
"He must be a villain, but he acts like he isn't. What the hell is going on?" I plead pretty annoyedly. "Maybe we just need to figure out what's going on with him?" Patton suggests gently. "We could bring him here and lock him up somehow, so we can talk to him better." I offer up the idea with caution. "Absolutely not, that is kidnapping. And more importantly highly illegal." Logan expresses really aggressively. "I don't think the fact that it's illegal is the problem with that idea but good try, Logie." Patton remarks, his face full of evident concern. "Fine when you two come up with a better idea tell me but for now I am going to check on Virgil," I say as I storm out angrily.
"Hey Virgil, I just wanted to make sure that you were okay. You seemed pretty upset, everything okay?" I ask him as I open the door carefully, closing it behind me. "Yeah, I just wish you all understood that sometimes villains are just that, villains." He explodes emotionally, collapsing onto me in a heap of frustration. "I'm sorry if it seemed like I was too much on his side, I swear I'm not. I just think that we should try to see it from his point of view before doing anything too drastic." I tell him as gently as possible as to not worry him. "Maybe so but did you ever think that maybe he enjoys being the villain, or God forbid is just plain fucking evil." He practically screams out, clearly having given up on maintaining some form of calmness. "Hey just calm down a bit Virge, nobody is saying that can't be true we just want to learn more first." I tell him calmly. "I know, I am just worried that you are being too empathetic." He says curling up into my arms. "Hey I am just asking everyone to think about it, we aren't changing our course of action any," I say trying to get him to chill a bit. "Yeah I know it's just hard knowing that you feel like
