Daryl asked

as he held the baby bottle up to her lips.

"N- not yet, but I was thinking - maybe Sophia? Then there's Carol, too. Andrea, Amy, Jaquie, Patrica. Or - Lori. I don't know."

In the middle of the walker attack, Lori had to have her baby. Carl and Addy watched from afar, sobbing their eyes out and clutching onto each other as Maggie cut her open. There was no other way. Rick was delirious - going off and killing walkers in the tombs while Daryl and Maggie went on a run for baby formula.

Addy didn't think she had ever cried as much as she did earlier that day. The memories kept flashing through her head, but she tried her best to block them out and put on a brave face.

"You like that?" Daryl looked down at the baby in his arms, "Huh? Little ass-kicker?" He looked up at everyone and chucked, "Right? That's a good name, right? Little ass-kicker? You like that, huh? You like that, sweetheart?"

Considering that day had been one of the worst Addy had ever been through - losing Lori, T-Dog, and Carol - her father's words didn't hesitate to put a smile on her, and everyone else's, face.

"I remember when you were this small," Daryl looked up at Addy, "Yeah," He chuckled, "Your momma wouldn't let you 'outta her sight."

Addy let out a small laugh, a slight redness spread across her cheeks as everyone's eyes landed on her.

......................................................

The next morning at breakfast was quiet. The only sound was the scraping of spoons as everyone ate their porridge. Addy was never fond of porridge, but in the apocalypse things are scarce and you have to make do with what you've got, so she wasn't complaining.

"Everybody okay?" Addy was shocked to see Rick. Nobody had seen him since he had gone off and killed dozens of walkers in the tombs.

"Yeah, we are." Maggie replied as she sat up from leaving her elbows on the table, a hint of shock on her face. Rick took a few steps forward, his footsteps echoing in the quiet room,

"What about you?" Hershel asked as he looked up at him from his spot at the table.

"Cleared out the boiler block." Rick replied nonchalantly.

"How many were there?" Daryl's southern voice asked from behind Addy. The two Dixon's sat on some nearby steps, with Daryl sitting a few steps up from his daughter.

"I don't know - dozen, two dozen," Rick surmised, "I have to get back, just wanted to check on Carl." The sheriff patted his son's back.

"Rick, we can handle taking out the bodies. You don't have to." Glenn offered, standing up from his seat at the table in the common room.

"No, I do," Rick assured, walking over to where the Dixon's sat, "Everyone have a gun and a knife?"

"Yeah. We're running low on ammo, though."

"Maggie and me were planning on making a run this afternoon. Found a phone book, some places we can hit, look for bullets and formula." Glenn nodded, looking back at Maggie.

"Cleared out the generator room. Axel's there 'tryna fix it. In case of emergency, we'll sweep the lower levels as well." Daryl said. He was concerned for Rick - everyone was. Rick patted Addy on the shoulder, the girl giving him a small, sympathetic smile in return.

"Good, good." Rick mumbled to himself, walking away from the group and back into the tombs.

"Rick!" Hershel called after him, but it was too late. Rick had already slammed the metal door behind him and walked away.

Oscar and Daryl talked between themselves for a few moments before the ex-convict nodded and walked off. Daryl whistled to get Addy's attention,

"Come on."

However, the girl couldn't get the horrifying images of Lori screaming in pain whilst her and Carl held onto each other as they sobbed profusely. It had been a few days since the tragic day but the woman's screams and sobs echoed in Addy's mind.

"You two look after each other. Don't let this world spoil you."

"You know, my mom - your grandma," Daryl began as the pair started walking down further into the tombs, "She liked her wine. She liked to smoke in bed, Virginia slims." He peeked around a corner, shining his flashlight down the other corridor.

"I was playin' out with the kids in the neighbourhood, I could do that with Merle gone," Addy still remained quiet and looking down at her feet, "They had bikes, I didn't. We heard sirens gettin' louder. They jumped on their bikes - ran after it, you know, hoping to see somethin' worth seein'. I ran after 'em, but I couldn't keep up."

"You are brave, and smart, and I love you both much."

"I ran around the corner, saw my friends lookin' at me. Hell, I saw everybody lookin' at me. Fire trucks everywhere. People from the neighbourhood. It was my house they were there for. That my mom in bed. Burnt down to nothin', that was the hard part. Yeah, she's just gone, erased. Nothing left of 'er."

Addy's eyes stung at her dad's story, not because she missed her grandma - she never met her grandma, but because Lori was almost like her second mom, and now she was gone, erased.

"People said it was better that way," Daryl looked behind at his daughter, who still hung her head low, and scoffed, "I don't know. Just made it seem like it wasn't real, you know?"

Addy knew. When she was in that boiler room, sobbing, clutching onto Carl for dear life - nothing felt real.

Oh, but it was.

"How come you never told me?" Addy finally ripped her eyes from the ground and spoke. Her father never had told her this story, and she desperately wanted to know why.

Daryl shrugged, "You were young, still are."

"But the worlds different now."

"And I love you both much."

"And people change."

"You are gonna this world, and I know it."

"Nothing was like it was before."

To say Daryl was shocked was an understatement. He didn't know how exactly he was expecting Addy to react, but it definitely wasn't like that. But that was reality now. Addy was right, the world was different and it's people aren't the same anymore. Children had to grow up faster and learn how to survive. Parents had to worry even more about them.

But that was reality now.

A/N,

A very short chapter, but I love honestly Addy and Daryl's relationship sm 😩 they are the cutest father daughter duo and no one can convince me otherwise 💗

Also, I'm very sorry for not including Lori's death. Ik a lot of you would probably have liked if I did include it, (for character development, relationship development, ect.) but my original idea was to make Addy go with Carol and T-Dog and she be the one that got stuck in the broom closet for a while, but I rlly wanted Addy and Daryl to have this convo and I'm glad I changed my mind. Again, sorry for anyone that wanted that :) 💗💗
