him." Carl said as Rick and Daryl entered the cell block. Daryl nodded at Addy and placed a hand on her head lovingly.
"Still no fever." Lori said quietly. They were all hoping and wishing that Hershel could pull through this. He was strong, but an injury this large could take down anyone. Rick nodded and moved closer to his friend.
Everyone stood in silence. Addy couldn't even begin to process what she would do if it was her dad on that bed. Subconsciously, she took a step back and leaned into her father's stomach. She bit her lip anxiously and looked down just as Maggie said,
"Daddy?"
"Daddy!" Beth smiled gleefully. Addy looked up to see Hershel blinking and moving his eyes. Rick took off the handcuffs Glenn had put on as a precaution and Maggie and Beth took their father's hand in their ones.
Addy smiled and her blue eyes subconsciously dragged over to the boy in the sheriffs hat. Lori walked out and Rick soon followed after her. A few moments after the husband and wife left Daryl grunted down at his daughter, signalling he wanted to talk somewhere else. Addy complied without a word and walked upstairs to her cell she shared with Carl. Daryl eyed the Greene family for a moment before walking upstairs after his kid.
When he got to the shared cell Addy was sitting on her bunk reading the comic book she had started reading earlier that day,
"Lori told me what you did." Daryl leaned against the cell door frame, one hand on his crossbow.
Addy sighed. She knew this conversation would come up eventually, any one of the adults would spill to Daryl and he would most definitely be mad at her.
"I ain't mad."

Those words caught her off guard, why wouldn't he be mad? After all, she did just risk her life for a couple of bandages and painkillers.
"If you and Carl didn't go on that run Hershel wouldn't be alive." This made her look up at him.
"Lori and Carol saved him - if it wasn't for them, he'd be dead, dad." Just like her father, addy wasn't used to getting credit for good things that had happened. Daryl nodded slowly, he knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with his daughter because she was just as stubborn as him - if not more.
"I'll see ya later."
......................................................
"Alright." Lori sighed as she helped Hershel up from the bottom bunk of his cell, grunting as he did so.
"Just take your time, Mr. Greene." Addy smiled politely. Thankfully, they had managed to find some crutches for the man to use when he was back on his feet and Beth had sewed his trousers so he wouldn't trip and fall.
"Daddy, don't push yourself." Beth's hands immediately went out to sturdy her dad.
"What else am I going to do?" Hershel grunted again as he pulled himself up off of the bottom bunk, "Can't stand looking up at that bunk any longer." The man stumbled as he adjusted onto the crutches, but Lori and Beth steadied him so he wouldn't fall. Addy Carl moved out of the way so Hershel could get through,
"You know, I feel pretty steady." Addy and Carl smiled at each other.
"That's a good start," Lori praised, "Wanna take a rest?"
"Rest?" Hershel chuckled slightly, "Let's go for a little stroll."
It didn't take the group long until they were out in the courtyard, Hershel getting more confident on his new crutches by the minute. It took him a good moment to get down the steps, but with everyone's help he managed fine.

"You cleared all those bodies out?" Hershel looked around the courtyard, "It's starting to look like a place we could really live in."
"Hey, you watch your step. Last thing we need is you falling." Lori reminded.
"You're doin' great, daddy." Beth smiled.
"Ready to race Hershel?" Carl joked, earning a chuckle from the girl next to him.
"You give me another day, I'll take you on."
Everything was perfect. Rick and Lori smiled at each other from across the yard, Beth and Maggie waved and laughed in joy. And for a moment, everyone forgot they were living in hell.
Until they heard it.
"Walkers! Look out!"
Addy spun around and grabbed her gun from her leg holster. Her, Carl, and Lori started firing at the monsters. The others were helping, but there was just too many. Daryl and Rick ran as fast as they could from the entrance, Rick worried about his wife and son and Daryl worried about his only daughter.
