A month has passed since the mission to Yuki no Kuni and the chunin exams that will be held in Konoha is just right around the corner 2 weeks away and all the villages that will be participating are currently in the process of choosing representatives for the said exams.

The hokage's office

Assembled in the hokage's office are Chunins, Tokubetsu Jonins, Jonins, Elite Jonins (including the neo Densetsu no Sannin) and a Sannin looking at the hokage alongside the former hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen, and the jonin commander. There were whisperings and murmuring among the Ninjas in the office until the hokage decided to cough to get their attention.

"As you all know the chunin exams are just 2 weeks away and so we want to know are you going to nominate your teams?" Tsunade asked.

But let me remind you that will be looking into your teams records and see if they really deserved a shot at being promoted now let us begin.

"I nominate Team 10 compose of Nara Shikamaru, Yamanaka Ino and Akimichi Choji as I deemed them ready for the Chunin Exams." Said a tall man, with brown eyes, olive skin, short black spiky hair, and a beard. His clothing consisted of the standard Konoha ninja uniform with the sleeves rolled up half way, flak jacket, regular shinobi sandals and hitai-ate. He also wore a sash that had the kanji for "Fire" (火) marked on it around his waist, a pair of black bangles, and bandages wrapped around the arms of his sleeves.

All look at the man with shock in their faces because he is sending his team which only turned genin 3 months ago.

The hokage just sighed in annoyance but as team records go they are eligible enough to participate but Tsunade knew that they aren't even bloodied yet.

She then asked herself "Why are the rookie's senseis even think that they (their respective teams) should participate."

Her musing was broken when Fuko asked the Jonin sensei of team 10 some questions and declaration.

"Asuma san is your team really ready for the exams as I heard that Iwa and Oto are participating in the exams and according to Intel they are being given orders to kill enemy ninja on sight in the 2nd part?" She asked the Jonin now known as Sarutobi Asuma.

"As for my team they will not join the chunin exams even if some civilians are pressuring me to let them join and knowing a snake pedophile is after one of my genin for his eyes so they will not participate." She declared.

Then another jonin sensei nominate her rookie team seemingly undeterred by the threats of Iwa and Oto.

"I nominate Team 8 composed of Hyuga jHinata, Aburame Shino, and Inuzuka Kiba as I also deemed them ready for the exams " said a fair-skinned woman of slender build. She has long black untamed hair reaching her upper back, and very unique eyes that are red in colour, with an additional ring in them. She wears make-up consisting of red lipstick and purple eye shadow. Her regular outfit consists of a red mesh armour blouse with only the right sleeve visible. Overall, this is very broad material which resembles bandages with a pattern on it similar to those of rose thorns. Her hands and upper thighs are also wrapped in bandages and she wears the Konoha hitae-ate and regular shinobi sandals.

Fuko just sighed in annoyance.

Murmuring were heard after the two rookie teams nominations while the neo Sannin were looking at the hokage.

The hokage then cough to stop the murmurs in the room. "It seems you are really confident that your team will dominate the chunin exams eh how about a wager then I'll allow your teams nominations but I want a minimum of 2 genins from each of your teams to make it to the finals but if 2 genins from each of your team doesn't make it to the finals of the chunin exams then your team will have to do 1000 D ranks each regardless of the one who made it gets promoted or not before any higher rank missions be given to you and your team after the chunin exams is done. Is that understood?"

The two Jonin sensei's then shivered but begrudgingly agreed on the stipulations the hokage enforced.

Tsunade then look at her son who is among the jonins present she then dismissed them all except Jiraiya and his former team and there was a comfortable silence.

Naruto then decided to break the silence by sighing.

"Hay! There is information that the snake pedophile is on his way to Konoha disguised as a Kusa kunoichi but what he doesn't know is that Sasuke won't be in the chunin exams though we can't underestimate the Uchiha he might try a stunt here and my seal isn't ready yet if he is marked by the snake it may take time before I can have the curse mark removed on him." He said.

Meanwhile in Oto

"Orochimaru sama!" Shouted Kabuto.

This shocked Orochimaru as he thought that Kabuto is in Konoha. He then asked. "What are you doing here Kabuto? Your supposed to be in Konoha right now to spy on my perfect vessel."

"I was nearly caught Orochimaru sama and therefore had to abandon my mission. I'm sorry Orochimaru sama. Kabuto replied in a apologetic tone.

Orochimaru was shocked at this news then asked "How did they nearly caught you? I thought your secured in Konoha." Said a wide eyed Orochimaru.

"It all started after the kumo chunin exams where the Senju heir and his team demolished the competition then they were promoted to elite jonin and we're assigned in guarding the Shinobi archives in the hokage tower and they know I was a spy when they saw me in there and I was about to be sent to Ibiki. I narrowly escaped them and I immediately flee Konoha and went here to warn you that the village you once called home is not the same anymore as it is now massive and also their shinobi and samurai forces are even larger it's total man power is 50x bigger than it was before the kyubi attack. And their shinobi and samurai's are all from clans." Kabuto narrates to his master what information he currently has on Konoha

This shocked Orochimaru as the thought of Konoha now more militarized is just Danzo's wet dream he was also shocked to hear that Danzo died without seeing this happening.

If he goes to Konoha there is a chance of him not making it out alive but he wants to mark Sasuke. So he then asked Kabuto. "How is Sasuke kun doing Kabuto?"

"Sasuke's development is going slow Orochimaru sama as you know since the civilian council was disbanded Konoha change it's qualification on becoming a Shinobi/Kunoichi. While his skills are top notch his psychological performance is where his problem is as he developed both superiority and inferiority complex and he has no love for Konoha for according to him Konoha has cause him time to gain power to kill his elder brother. But trust me Orochimaru sama you don't want to go to Konoha now as I told you earlier." Kabuto narrated to Orochimaru

"And how do we supposed to mark him Kabuto?" Orochimaru annoyingly asked his most trusted subordinate

"Oh Orochimaru sama we don't need to mark him now we'll wait for him when he goes out on a mission you show up and show him power beyond what he gets in Konoha I'm sure he'll take the bait easily." Kabuto said with a sadistic smile.

"Kukuku. We'll still do the Konoha invasion regardless as I don't want to leave an important ally hanging I don't want the damn old rock Onoki on our bad side. As that old rock is stubborn as hell even if his forces aren't strong yet he really wants vengence for his fallen Shinobi during the third Shinobi world war and the chunin exams from almost 3 years ago and don't worry we'll not be sending anything but I taught Onoki the Edo tensei and gave him the controlling tags for the resurrected Shinobi. And our troops will be dress up as Iwa ninja."

Meanwhile in Konoha

Naruto was currently walking alone Sembonzakura Kageyoshi on his waist when he bumped into team 9 compose of a fair skin and long black hair, he has featureless white eyes, he wears a beige-coloured shirt, a dull blue shirt beneath that, and mesh armour beneath that. He wore dark brown shorts, blue shinobi sandals, and wrapped bandages around his right arm, chest, and right leg. He tied his hair back in a loose ponytail tied a few inches above the end. He wore a black hitai-ate, under which was a smaller headband with two straps that frame the sides of his face. A Hyuga, Naruto recognized well. Next to the Hyuga is a boy who has shiny black hair, round eyes with prominent lower eyelashes, and very thick eyebrows, he wears a green jumpsuit, orange leg warmers, and a red forehead protector worn as a belt. He has bandages around his forearms up to his fingers, covering a set of stitches on his hands that were caused by his rigorous training. Then there was their Kunoichi teammate who is intently staring at Naruto or rather at Sembonzakura Kageyoshi this girl who has black hair and grey eyes, She wears her hair in two Chinese-style buns on her head with short fringe-bangs framing her face. she wears a pink sleeveless qipao-style blouse with red sleeve trimmings and yellow fastening buttons and dark green pants. A pouch is adjusted to her thigh and her forehead protector and sandals are both blue.

"Senju sama" the hyuga boy speak politely as he bowed at Naruto.

"Neji how many times do I have to tell you to just call me Naruto we are friends and I don't want my friends to call me with honorifics. Naruto said while looking at the Hyuga boy now known as Neji.

Naruto then winked at the girl who was looking at his sword causing the girl to blush a little bit.

I'm Higurashi Tenten the girl said can I look at your katana Senju sama? She asked.

Sure he said then Naruto pull the katana off his waist and hand it over to Tenten. He then said oh and it's Byakuya with a smile.

Tenten then unsheathed the katana and observed it she admired the craftsmanship on the blade itself she was in love.

Naruto then let her hold the sword when he noticed something is happening he then smirked he then ask team 9. "Are you guys on a mission or are you going to the training grounds?"

"We were given a two week off to rest and recuperate as we are participating in this years Chunin Exams Senju sama" Said the boy with thick eye brows

"Oh I see then you want to do some light training it isn't a hard training though and I will show you some of my techniques as well." Naruto offered.

Neji respectfully decline the offer due to having a meeting with the clan council. While Lee was going to look for Sakura. Which leaves their weapons loving teammate alone now with Naruto.

Naruto then asked Tenten if she want to go with him. She agrees almost immediately and then off they go to the training ground where Naruto show off a little of Sembonzakura Kageyoshi and his ability.

Tenten just watch in awe as Naruto gave her a little show.

Meanwhile in Iwa

A very short, old man with a triangular beard and a moustache that had angular corners, a big red nose and thick eye brows. The top of his head was completely bald, although, he had long white hair on the lower-half of his head which is styled in a traditional chonmage hair cut, the back of which was tied with a yellow ribbon into a topknot. He is wearing a split apart green coat divided into four sections with yellow trimmings, and a red collar Underneath he wore the traditional Iwagakure outfit consistent of a light green version of Iwagakure's flak jacket and mesh armour. He however had both his sleeves of his shirt, but kept the single lapel on his right side. Along with this, he wore sandals. The old man was trying to convince the daimyo of Tsuchi no Kuni to support the alliance between Iwa and Oto also asking the man's blessing for the alliance's plans to invade Konoha but sadly the daimyo didn't give him the blessing he needed.

The reason the Daimyo of Tsuchi no Kuni doesn't give his blessing was because of the shame Iwa and subsequently his country became a laughingstock since the Kumo chunin exams almost 3 years ago when he gave his blessing to the tsuchikage to make an alliance with Kumo to try destroy and obliterate Konoha.

Though the old leader didn't have his daimyo's blessing he will still push through with their plans with Oto. Even though he was on his own and Iwa wouldn't have the support of Tsuchi no Kuni.

Konoha a week later

The arrival of the foreign contestants are beginning as genins from every invited village came to participate in the chunin exams.

As this was happening a team from Suna the family of the kazekage we're waiting for their escort. Said escort was closing in on them.

"Hello there I'm Senju Byakuya and I'll be the one escorting you." Naruto told them.

The three then bowed to him as they honor him for saving their village's economy.

"Thank you for escorting us Senju sama we would like to inform you that Iwa is currently mobilizing troops and they are walking in the border between kaze no Kuni and Tsuchi no Kuni." The teams sensei said in a whisper

Thank you for the information Baki san. Naruto said his thanks with a nod of his head.

As they we're walking they saw a genin from Iwa who is carrying a small kid by the collar Naruto immediately notice the kid as Konohamaru. Naruto then excuse himself to the Suna Ninjas he was escorting and shunpo'd at the back of the Iwa genin.

Naruto appeared undetected at the back of the Iwa team as the genin was about to punch Konohamaru. Naruto then said "I wouldn't do that if I where you genin."

Before the Iwa genin could say something Naruto said trust me you don't want to hit him as he is the sandaime's grandson. Now put him down slowly.

But the Iwa genin just smirked and pulled his fist on Konohamaru aiming for the academy student's face but it was stop by Naruto himself this shocked the Iwa nins he then said as consequence for your actions you and your team will be disqualified from the exams and will be in prison until the exams are over. He said seriously.

As this was happening the sandaime arrived with Anbu escorts to arrest the Iwa genins as well as their jonin sensei who was caught watching the scene and not stopping his genins.

Meanwhile in the Konoha council chambers

The war council was called to prepare for an invasion though the daimyo of Tsuchi no Kuni didn't give Iwagakure his blessing the stubborn old kage of Iwa was apparently pushing through with the help of Otogakure according to the daimyo of Tsuchi no Kuni himself.

He told them that Iwa is now considered a rogue village and if the village is defeated he will then create a new hidden village and will make sure that Iwa will be isolated.

Back in Oto

Orochimaru is a little antsy in his pantsy that he decided to ignore Kabuto's advice and go to Konoha. Much to the dismay of the boy.

A week has gone by

With team 8,9 and 10

The chunin exams begins and it was in the academy as the Konoha genins have a feeling of nostalgia as they enter the halls of the academy once again.

When they entered the academy they went to the 2nd flor and recognized the genjutsu but they decided not to make a fuss out of it and slide through the crowd and went up another floor.

After the shenanigans in the 2nd floor the three Konoha teams made it to the third floor where the room was as many genins were eliminated earlier.

They were then surprised to see their respective sensei waiting for them to say their advice and wish them luck.

Teams 8 and 10 were surprised to see each other in the room but made no word of it they stayed quiet as they waited if they will see team 7 but to their disappointment team 7 is not there when the proctor arrived.

The proctor who has a large, imposing figure, which he complements with a rugged head and face covered with old wounds and scars. He's head is always covered by his forehead protector to conceal a collection of burn marks, punctures from where screws were used, and long slash marks. The scars are indicative of the physical torture he has endured in the past, and illustrates his capacity to endure pain without giving up the desired information to the enemy. He wears a darker version of the standard uniform of the Intelligence Division, along with a black trench coat and gloves. He then said alright maggots seat down and shut up!

His intimidating and imposing features was enough to silence the whole room. He then introduced himself "I am Morino Ibiki and I will be the proctor for this part of the exam and it will be a written exam. Let me explain the rules of the exams so listen up as I will only say this once Ibiki began, rule 1: there are 10 questions on the test and each of you will begin with 10 points. For every answer you will get wrong you'll lose a point. Rule 2: Even though this is a written test, it is a team event. Your total scores will be added at the end. Rule 3: If you get caught cheating you and your team will lose 2 points. Final Rule: If one person on the team loses all their points then the team is disqualified. He explained to the genins."

But unknown to the genins they are being watched by a pair of blue sharingan's which make Ibiki smirked sadistically.

"You have one hour to finish HAJIME!"

Meanwhile in the Jonin lounge

"Oh shit I forgot who the proctor for the Chunin Exams was I sure hope that my genin won't get intimidated by him." Asuma said

"Why? Asuma who is the proctor for the first part?" Asked Kurenai.

"Your a new jonin after all Kurenai so you don't know who Ibiki the sadist is." Said Kakashi to the shocked of the Konoha jonins.

"Kakashi I thought you are in Anbu?" A shocked Asuma asked.

"Well Hokage sama pulled me out of Anbu to be one of her jonin bodyguards in the finals." Kakashi said with a shrug

"Oh I see well about Ibiki he is the sadistic head of our T&I department so I'm certain his gonna be that way with the genins." Asuma said looking at the shocked face of Kurenai.

Back in room 301

Naruto's Sharingan prove to be helpful in taking out cheaters as the the number of genins dwindled down to 30 teams as Ibiki looked at the time it's almost time for the final question.

"Alright get ready! It's time for the final question!" Ibiki shouted getting everyone's attention.

"But before we begin...I'm adding one more rule. Alright then...I'm giving you a choice. Will you accept or reject the next question? he asked confusing the others." He added

"What happens if we chose to reject it?" Temari asked.

"If you choose to reject the question then you forfeit all your points will be zeo and you fail automatically. Not only that, but your teammates will fail alongside you." Ibiki explained shocking them.

One by one some of the weak minded genins stood up and decided to try again next year.

After 10 minutes there were only 14 teams remaining.

"Hmm 14 teams not bad at all well then I have to pass them." Ibiki thought to himself.

"No one of you wants to give up?" He asked for the last time.

After 2 minutes of no one moving on their seats he then declared Well in that case I only have one thing to say...you pass! Ibiki said with a grin.

What do you mean we pass? What about the final question? A Kusa genin asked confused.

I mean that everyone remaining in this room has passed. And as for the last question...there isn't any. Ibiki answered.

So what was the point of scaring us like that? Temari shouted.
