《Pen Pals {MXTX}》8- One cloudy day
Advertisement
"It looks like it's gonna rain."
Wei Wuxian peered out at the window that covers the majority of the east wall, his hands and forehead pressed against the glass.
The ominous dark clouds had gathered together, blocking the sun and giving Wei Wuxian a first-class view of the threatening clouds overhead from the third floor.
"Stop that, your fingerprints are getting all over the window," Hua Cheng called from the kitchen counter where he sat lazily with his hand under his chin.
Wei Wuxian turned away from the window wall and hurried over to the kitchen counter, but not before he nearly knocked over a telescope.
"Careful, that costs money," Hua Cheng warned.
"Sorry!" Wei Wuxian squeaked.
He reached the kitchen countertop and clambered onto the stool next to Hua Cheng.
He leaned over, standing on his knees on top of the stool, his palms pressed against the quartz countertop, he peered into a bowl of cookie dough.
"Luo-xiong, add more chocolate chips to that," Wei Wuxian urged.
"...there are already too many."
"No, that's not enough, and can we make another batch of chocolate chip cookies? But let's add one raisin to each one."
"Why," Hua Cheng said. Raisins are wrinkled grapes.
"Because Wen Chao pissed me off the other day and I know he hates raisins," Wei Wuxian replied.
"..." Luo Binghe turned around to turn on the oven.
Wei Wuxian sneaked a hand into the cookie bowl.
Smack!
"Ow!" Wei Wuxian cried.
Luo Binghe had slapped his hand with a wooden spoon.
"Don't touch it," he warned.
"Bro, just one bite!" Wei Wuxian begged.
"No," Luo Binghe insisted, "You didn't even wash your hands."
"I did!"
"No, he didn't," Hua Cheng declared.

"Hua-xiong!" Wei Wuxian was shocked.
Hua Cheng suddenly became extremely interested in the white paper flowers on top of the table in a clear vase.
Wei Wuxian hopped off the stool and made his way to the sink. He turned on the water and carefully washed his hands with soap.
"Now can I have some?" he asked.
"Hm," Luo Binghe agreed, handing him a small plate.
Wei Wuxian happily took his food and went back to sit on the stool.
"You know, Hua-xiong, at this rate, you'll never find a girlfriend."
"..."
"Who said I wanted one," Hua Cheng snapped.
"No? Hua Cheng-gege, you don't want a girlfriend?" Wei Wuxian asked innocently.
"..."
"Awe, Hua-xiong, that's fine! Why don't we all stay single and grow old together??? Why, we can all live together and be bros for the rest of our life!!!"
"..."
"I, for one, am highly against it," Luo Binghe said.
"Aw, why?"
"I don't know, just my conscience," Luo Binghe replied swiftly.
"Right, guess Luo-xiong doesn't want to grow old with us," Wei Wuxian said sadly, faking a sniffle.
"Who's us?" Hua Cheng asked nonchalantly.
"..."
"Hua-xion-"
Knock knock.
"Who's knocking on the door?" Luo Binghe frowned.
"I'll get it," Hua Cheng slid off his seat and walked to the front door.
He opened the door.
"Oh, it's you."
"..."
Hua Cheng looked up and down at the boy in front of his (shared) apartment, blocking the entrance.
"..." Jiang Cheng stared right back at Hua Cheng.
"Where's Wei Wuxian?" he asked, without any greeting.
"He's not here," Hua Cheng said before shutting the door in his face.
"..."
Hua Cheng went back to the kitchen.

"You are going to have to wash that," he said, after seeing Wei Wuxian's abandoned, now empty, bowl.
"Yeah, yeah, I know, who was at the door?"
"No one important," Hua Cheng replied.
Just then-
"WEI WUXIAN!!! I KNOW YOU ARE IN THERE!! YOU IDIOT!"
"..."
"That was Jiang Cheng."
"Who?" Hua Cheng tried.
"Hua-xiong!" Wei Wuxian complained.
"I got to go now, I forgot I promised Jiang Cheng to go play at the arcade, bye!"
"I thought you were staying over."
"Nope, sorry, I forgot! Oh, btw, Luo-xiong, put those cookies in a box and give them to me tomorrow at school okay?"
"Bye, love you, Luo-xiong! Hua-xiong, I don't love you right now! Bye!"
With that, Wei Wuxian grabbed his belongings and sped out of the room.
"..."
"Pfft."
"Are you laughing at me?"
Hua Cheng's mood suddenly corresponds with the weather perfectly.

The Dungeon Boss's Favorite Game - A Virmo Story
Kragathor is the final guardian of the world’s deepest dungeon. He is an immortal pinnacle of existence that is otherwise known as an ancient dragon. And he is terribly bored. His sole source of amusement comes from scrying on the adventurer teams that are in the upper levels of his dungeon. Through spying on adventurers, Kragathor hears of a new magic item, called a Virmo, that allows one to project their mind into a fictional world in some sort of grand-scale game. Recognizing these Virmo games as a potential diversion for his endless boredom, he orders a minion to infiltrate the nearby town and acquire some of these games. Once the minion returns, he logs into a game set in a world that runs on the twin magics of ‘science’ and ‘technology’, and embarks on his new journey as Bob, the Level 1 Human with no class. Release Schedule: As I wrap up the end of the first major arc, I will publish the chapters as they're completed. However, as I transition into the next arc, I will go with a two or three times a week release schedule, since I will be splitting time between this story and Chimera. Discord Server
8 139Accidentally Smithing
Nik's life has been boring for the last couple of years. His engineering degree progresses adequately, he had some friends but not too many. I am aware that some of the prose could be improved upon in the early chapters. I am working on redoing that right now!! It should get better around chapter 10. -------------------------------------------------------- I plan on releasing one chapter per week, this is not guaranteed since uni takes priority number 1.

8 186The Last Human
I am the last human alive. My world is filled with magic and steam powered mecha. I have none of that. I am fragile in this world and if I wish to remain part of the races on this planet, I need to find a way to get back to earth and find a bride. The odds are stacked against me but the one thing I do have as a human is resiliance. I will find the portal that my parents travelled through and I will return to their home planet. That is my only goal. That is my only legacy and I must succeed. To anyone who finds this diary, please make it known that I did exist. If my race has died out, I was here. I was King. I am Adam Carter. I am the last Human.
8 131The Weaver's Burden (HIATUS)
Weavers... this lot has been synonymous with freaks at best, and devil worshipers at worst, since they were first found. Thankfully, they make up a negligible number of people, but they can still be incredibly dangerous. Oftentimes, they wind up killing themselves or others when their ability to perform magic begins to manifest, acting as a sort of natural culling process for weavers. However, this was well before the Republic of Sidia realized that the ability to manipulate reality can be reigned in, controlled. So if you had the chance to turn something dangerous into a weapon, why wouldn't you? This is what fate awaits a young man named Emmet. After his weaving manifests and blood is on his hands, he is given a choice: the gallows, or the Esphell Monastery. What awaits Emmet at the monastery? What is this magic, and how can he control it? What happens to weaver's once they are properly trained? And most importantly, will he survive long enough to have these questions answered?
8 123How About Heresy?
Jeffrey's a guy who's most certainly a heretic but likes to believe he's not. Like we all do. Though, being a villain, there are many do gooders that'd like to exchange a strong word— or rather fisticuffs with him. Doing the deeds of villains, he places his own strange lens of justice over it, all the while, being an absolute fool. How will Jeffrey fare against the might of the good? —————————— "You tryin' ta shill me heresy?" "Ye- I mean yesn't," That's absurd why would I shill heresy? I'm not a heretic godsdamnit! In a realm of heretics and apostles alike, what to do? Well, I'm not sure of that myself. Though I have a feeling joining a cult may not be the best action... "No way. Are we being clapped by the power of friendship?" "Indeed we are," Shite. NOTE: - Don't expect an overpowered main character, nor a weak character. Strength isn't a plot point. - This is mainly a comedy, so it ain't as dark as you think it'd be despite the numerous mentions of cultists, heretics and murder... - There isn't going to be any face slapping scenes.
