Me and Jordan are walking home celebrating victory. I hear someone yelling my name, I turn around. It's benny. I gesture for Jordan to carry on walking home. He hesitates at first but eventually walks off.

"Hey benny" I smile.

"Hey, I need to talk to you" he seems a little bit out of breathe.

"Go on"

"You need to join our team" he says desperately.

"I could join anyone's team, why yours?" I ask

"You said it yourself, the only good teams in town are the tigers and the sandlot"

"I mean the tigers just beat you so why shouldn't I just join there team?" I wait for an answer

"Because you don't want to."

"How would you know"

"Because I know you!"

I look at him and sigh. "Fine, but your boys aren't gonna allow it"

"I'll make them"

I smile at him.

We walk home together and he tells me the positions each boy normally plays.

"Where do you normally play?" He asks

"I like playing as batter"

"Yeah, you've got a good hit. Me and you can swap between batter unless ham or someone else want to bat"

"Got it" I say walking over to my house.

"Meet at sandlot at 8" he says.

I nod and run into my house.

"What did he want?" Jordan asks.

"He just asked me to play on his team" I say getting a coke out of the fridge.

"You said no right?" He looks concerned

"Was I supposed to?" I'm confused.

"Obviously! He yells. "You're not playing with them."

"Yes I am!"

"No you are not y/n."

"Why not!?" I didn't think he'd get so mad

"They're our enemies. I don't even understand why you'd want to."

"Because I love baseball!"

"Y/n" he pauses. "If you play with them, I will never forgive you"

"Jordan, don't be like that" I think about it for a second. "Fine."

I walk up to my room and go to sleep. There's no way I'm missing out on this opportunity to play baseball with other people. As long as Jordan doesn't find out, it'll be fine.

I wake up and hear tapping on my window. I get up and open the curtains. It's benny.

"Hurry up, we're gonna be late!" He says.

"Shhh, don't let anyone catch you"

He nods and walks over to the street. I quickly get dressed and get ready to leave. I'm about to walk out the door but Jordan catches me.

"Where are you going? You're normally still asleep at 8:00" he says.

"I'm going to Vincent's drugstore to get some food." I reply

"Why so early?" He asks.

"Dunno" I walk out the house and go over to benny.

"Run" I say. I grab his hand and run to the sandlot.

"Why did we have to run?" He asks

"My brother"

He gives a look of understanding. We walk into the sandlot. The boys look like they have just started playing. They all see me and stop.

"What is she doing here?" Asks ham.

"Guys, y/n is gonna play with us. Don't argue about it. She's a really good player and we could use someone like her on our team" Benny says.

Everyone is silent for a moment. They all look at me.

"I don't mind her playing" says smalls. I smile at him.

Timmy and Tommy agree. The others are still considering it.

"I guess" says Bertram.

"Fineee" says squints.

"I mean she is quite good" says Kenny.

"Yeah yeah she might be as good as benny" yeah-yeah says. I look at benny, he looks a bit annoyed but happy at the same time.

Everyone agrees apart from ham who is still considering it. Everyone looks at him.

"Ham?" Asks benny.
