《old coffee and cigarettes》Chapter Two

Eddie staggered after Robin, who was already out the door and getting into his van.
"Hey, who said we could use my van?" Eddie shouted.
Or tried to shout. It sounded closer to a whisper to him.
"I did!" Robin called back, "now get in the van, I'm driving."
"Great," muttered Eddie, "if you get so much as a scratch on her..."
He stepped out of his trailer and immediately regretted it.
The sun screamed down at him, and he had to lean against the wall of his trailer to avoid collapsing.
He squinted up at the sun.
It was hot. So, so hot.
Yet cold at the same time.
He shivered, feeling goosebumps creep up his neck and along his arms.
"Eddie?" Robin called to him uncertainly.
He staggered in the direction of his van and heaved himself on to the front seat.
"I'm okay," he said, trying to sound reassuring.
She didn't look convinced.
"Here, take this," she said, handing him a small bottle of aspirin.
Eddie took one of the pills and threw his head back, swallowing it dry. Then he took two more when Robin wasn't looking.
They were so small he figured two more couldn't hurt.
They drove along the derelict roads, blasting the music at full volume. There was no one around to hear them.
"Oh, by the way, we're meeting Steve and Nancy there," Robin said, turning a corner so sharply, Eddie almost went green.
He felt sick. Not just because of Robin's poor driving skills though.
Steve. Steve was going to be there.
Eddie didn't know why that made him feel so queasy, but he didn't like it.
"Eddie?"
"Oh yeah, that's... that's great."
"Everything okay?"
"No, your driving is shit."
Robin playfully punched him on the shoulder.
Then swerved to avoid hitting a tree.
