《old coffee and cigarettes》Chapter Three

They stumbled into the coffee shop a little while later, dizzy and nauseous, the soft tinkling of a bell announcing their arrival.

"I am never letting you drive her again!" snarled Eddie, clutching on to Robin's arm as they made their way over to Steve and Nancy's table.

"Woah, what happened to you two?" asked Nancy, resisting the urge to smile.

"Robin, here, thought it would be a good idea to slam into every mailbox on our way here," muttered Eddie through gritted teeth.

He slid next to Steve and Robin sat next to Nancy, a mischievous grin plastered across her face.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," she said, "my driving, much like all my other talents, is perfect."

Nancy laughed then and Steve smiled, revealing rows of dazzling teeth.

"You good?" He asked reaching out to touch Eddie's arm.

A warm glow spread from Steve's fingertips and travelled up his arm leaving him breathless and lightheaded.

If Eddie was dizzy before, it was nothing to how he felt at Steve's touch. He felt his frenzied thoughts melt away under Steve's warm smile yet inside he was screaming.

All this from a touch, Eddie thought.

"Eddie?"

"Mhm..." was all Eddie could muster.

Thankfully, Steve moved his hand as Robin and Nancy started to speak, allowing Eddie to think properly again.

"This coffee is so much better than Eddie's."

"Hey, that was mine!" Nancy complained, although she didn't seem to mind too much.

"Yeah she does that a lot," Eddie remarked and Steve chuckled.

It felt so good, making him laugh. Hearing his laugh. It filled Eddie with a weird sense of joy but he ignored the feeling, letting it die out as quickly as it had come.

"So I was thinking you guys could come over to my place tonight to watch a movie-" Nancy began.

"Something Tom Cruise related, I bet," snickered Robin.

Nancy playfully punched her on the shoulder.

Eddie thought there was something off about those two but decided it was probably just girls being girls.

He didn't have much experience with girls to know if this was true or not.

"Yeah, I can go," shrugged Steve.

"Count me in," Eddie said.

And he could have sworn he saw Steve's smile widen.

But it was probably just wishful thinking.
