"Here you go" he handed me the glass
"Thanks... i guess"
"Need anything else?"
"No, im good..."
"So, what exactly happened after i fell down that glass bridge?" I asked.
"Simple, the guards gave you immediate medical attention and then brought you here to rest"
'I guess that makes sense...'
"Are the games still going?" I questioned him next...
"No, they ended yesterday"
I paused, "who won?"
"Seong Gi-hun, he won this year. It was quite the interesting game"
"So... that means that everyone else is..."
i looked to the ground.
"This isnt a good place to make friends."
'Tch... i know that dumbass... but...the biggest question should still be...'
"Well... why even keep me alive in the first place? There really no benefit in it after all..."
"its not always about the benefits, dear y/n"
"Excuse me?"
"Sometimes its purely about the enjoyment, isnt that the whole reason this game exists?"
"Hmph... i suppose..? What enjoyment exactly tough?"
"No need to play dumb y/n"
I frowned slightly...
"So, what now?" I asked leaning back slightly.
"Are you gonna kill me?" I glanced at him smiling a bit.
"That wouldnt make any sense, doctoring you up and breaking so many game rules just to kill you? Please y/n"
I chuckled weakly, "i was kidding, thats all... im not *that* stupid you know?"
I took a small sip from the glass he gave me...
It immeadiantly burned my throat, almost making me wince a bit...
"Just curious... how hurt am i?"
"A broken leg, one shattered arm, a bad concussion along with a few other things. Pretty hurt, if i do say so myself."
"Tch... and you give me alcohol in this condition? Your irresponsible as fuck..." i smirked.

"Well im not your fucking parent. You get that?"
"Yeah yeah... whatever, what does it matter in the end..."
I paused, enjoying the relaxing aura...
"Now what?" I questioned, staring off into space.
"Well, about your ealier questions. I wont send you home. And i wont kill you either" he explained
"And what are you gonna do?"
"Ill keep you around, your attractive and from everything i could watch of you, your an interesting person id like to get to know better"
"Gee... and the guards? Did you set em' up or something?"
"No, i only officially announced that they could prioritise you without consequense after the second game... they did most of it on their own"
"But honestly, i would have never expected so many guards to take interest in you... tough you probably didnt interact with that many, it was always 304 here, 304 there... your a real celebrity"
I giggled as i felt my cheeks heat up a bit...
"So... what do we do now? Im..." i yawned mid-sentence laying onto my back, "...kinda bored..."
My mind wandered off a bit as he just seemed to stare at me...
'This place seems so centered around masks and anonymity...'
'I wonder...'
Without noticing i had shut my eyes...
"Nap time..." i groaned out...
A few seconds passed on as my body already prepared itself to sleep...
"At least lay down properly you idiot..."
I felt two arms gently wrap around my body, laying me onto the bed properly.
I enjoyed the comfortable feeling... warm and fluffy...
Is this what a home should feel like..?
I felt the warm blanket tuck me in nicely as i felt sleepier by the second...
"Now now, little goody-two-shoes... Are you feeling alright?"

"Mhm..." i groaned in harmony also nodding my head a tiny bit...
"Ts ts ts... stop being so goddamn cute will ya?"
My mind still held so many questions...
how long would i stay here..?
Can i see gi-hun again?
Is my dad still alive?
Actually... screw him... did he really like me for more than my income?
This stupid ass game really made me realize how freaking cold this world actually was...
I didnt really know if that was a good thing... with those pink n' red glasses life was certainly less devastating... but i think with a clearer view... it will be easier... even if the emotional stress was now higher...
'Seeing people die... seeing people fight for their life... i wont forget it... and... ill never forget their sacrifices...'
Lets see where this story takes me...

Ancient Bones: The Changed Ones book 1 (Post-Post Apocalypse LitRPG)
Is it truly an RPG Apocalypse... if no one can see the RPG? Generations after the Fall, Mankind has achieved a balance in a world it is no longer the master of. But your prospects in this Malthusian world are limited. Johanna Milton and her friends have an answer: delve into Ancient ruins, avoid Changed beasts and mana pockets, and salvage Ancient materials, collectibles, and trinkets to sell. It pays well if you avoid the perils of the Ancient world. But when they find the skeleton of an Ancient, their lives take a strange turn. Suddenly, Talents straight out of fantasy novels become theirs. While they try to make sense of what happens, eyes turn to them, to the four who seem to break all rules. Or are they merely following them? Because, in the Beyond where he's spent 150 years waiting, one dead Ancient knows the truth. Douglas Moore has played those games often enough when he was alive to make sense of the System that rules the Changed world. He can no longer act on his own, but he has access to the Interface. And four people for which he can bring whatever it takes to face the world. Change is coming. The Changed Ones is a slow-burn litrpg fantasy trilogy (Ancient Bones, Ancient Books, Ancient Bonds) set on Earth, 150 years after the RPG Apocalypse... which mostly failed. It is an homage to the venerable ancient RPGs of the Golden Box era, the Baldur's Gates, and many others, offering adventure where You must gather your party before venturing forth. Keywords: LitRPG, realistic setting, low-leveling, post-post-apocalypse, fantasy earth, slow-burn, secondary POVs, female primary MC, team adventure, worldbuilding. Trigger warnings: casual swearing, adult innuendo (no explicit scenes whatsoever, though). Oh, and potentially a bit of politics. Bonus content: a Litrpg Easter Egg hunt. With lots of eggs across the book, some easy, some hard to find. Current score: 6/20 (20 eggs, 6 found) Publication schedule: on hold until September for book 2.
