《Fortunate and Unfortunate Events #1-#12 to A School Dream》Caught- F/UnF Event #3 to A School Dream

"We interrupt this broadcast to bring you breaking news. The maniacal Lex Luthor has been caught and arrested."
Lena's head shot up at the television in her apartment at the sound of Lex's name.
"After killing innocent lives at first, then almost killing Superman and taking thousands of more lives with him, and other occasions as well, Superman and the MCPD were able to catch the Luthor, and were able to arrest him. His trial is pending. We do not know if his sister, Lena Luthor will-"
Lena shut off the television at the mention of her name. She didn't want to hear any of it. She didn't know whether to be happy that the maniac has finally been caught, or upset and sad that her older brother was going away to prison. Probably for life. She scoffs as she thinks to herself,
He deserves it. He killed all those people.
Could I reach through to him? Maybe get the good side to come out?
No. He's a Luthor. There's no good left in him.
So, does that mean I'm going to go insane, too?
You're not really a Luthor, Lena.
Are you sure about that?
Her phone snapped her out of her thoughts. Of course. Reluctantly, yet somewhat willingly, she picked it up. "Lena Luthor speaking."
"You have one pending call," the automated voice told her.
"From who?" she asked, even though she knew the answer.
"Alexander Luthor."

Lena's heels clicked across the cold, tile floor of the prison. A guard opened the door for her and she walked into the room and saw her bald-headed brother at the single table, chained by handcuffs on both his wrists and ankles. The door closed behind her and he looked up to see his visitor.
An evil grin appears on his face. "Sister. Who would've thought," he says in a statement more than a question.

"Apparently you because you called me."
He raises his hands slightly off the table. "Guilty as charged."
"Which is what they'll be saying when you're on trial."
"I was only doing what people should've been doing when he came to this planet-"
"Try and kill him?"
"Try to eliminate them. Aliens," he hisses through his teeth.
"Don't twist my words, Lex. Eliminate and kill are synonyms."
He grins at her. "There's my smart ass sister."
"What happened to my smart ass brother?" she retorts.
He shrugged. "Still in here."
"Are you sure about that?" She walks up to the table, heels clicking. "Because the only kind of 'brother' or 'smart ass' I've seen is the crazy, evil one. The one who went on a killing spree and left his little sister behind. The 'brother' who probably worked with your mother to try and kill Superman in the first place. Now, the only smart ass I see is the evil genius. My brother is dead." She had her hands on the table, looking straight at him.
"Now if I were dead, then I wouldn't even be here."
"Don't even. The brother who cared for me, who actually spent time with me other than Father and your mother, who sang me to sleep after a bad nightmare- that Lex Luthor is dead."
Lex clicked his tongue. "Whatever happened to Kara? Hm?"
Lena took her hands off and a step back from the table, standing straight, crossing her arms. "What are you talking about?"
"Well, I can see it in your eyes," Lex says calmly. "The only other person who loved you, cared for you, made you worth it- or at least, seem like it-" he says that last part with an evil smile. "Is gone. What did Mother do? Honestly, I'm dying to know."

Lena bit her lip to suppress herself from saying anything. "You should already know, considering you worked with her to try to go on with this nefarious plan."
He shrugged. "I really don't know. Mother said she did what she had to do to break you. And look where we are now."
She set her lip in a tight line. "I did what I had to do to keep Kara safe. Even if it hurt us both."
Lex hums in thought. "You really cared for her, didn't you?"
"I care for her immensely. Whatever she's doing now, I'm sure she's okay. She has good friends who have her back, unlike me." Lena shakes her head. "So are you really a psychopath now?"
He shrugged again. "Well, since they put me in here, and I'll probably be locked up for life because I was just trying to do something right-"
"You killed thousands of innocent lives."
"True. But, that was just a mishap in my plan of operations."
Lena shakes her head again. "So my brother is gone, huh?"
"Still here."
"Not the brother I used to know and love." Lena walks back to the door.
"See you at the trial, Lena!" he yells after her.
"Don't count on it!" she hollers back.
Lena got back her personal items and back into the rear of her limo. Silent tears roll down her cheeks.
"Why am I even crying?"
Because you lost your brother, goddamn it.
"He really is gone..."
