《The Last Lycan Alpha King》Chapter 53

Dash's POV
"It's high time you saw your son." My mother spoke as she sat beside me on the edge of the waterfall.
"I can't." I sighed staring at the water. "I can't face him knowing I failed to protect him."
"But you rectified that mistake by getting him back and ensuring he is ok." She pointed out.
"I don't feel like I have."
"It's high time you gave yourself some credit." She grabbed my chin forcing me to look at her. "You are the one who came up with the plans, captured those creatures and rescued your family, stop beating yourself up over something that you didn't cause."
"What you expected that scumbag to treat them like they were in a five star restaurant or something, they were abducted Dash, that's what happens when one is abducted." She spoke seriously. "Baby I know you've made a dozen mistakes over the years, most of which are because your father and I were shitty parents but you shouldn't keep tormenting yourself over the past, you're an amazing father not just to Cage but even your pack too and you'll continue doing that even with your daughter, cut yourself some slack and take time to realize just how much good you have done."
Unable to control myself I hugged her. I really needed to hear that.
"Thank you." I told her honestly.
"You don't need to thank me, I'm your mum and my job is to knock sense in that big head of yours." She ruffled my hair making us both chuckle.
"Come now."
She held her hand out for me and I took it, we walked back to the warehouse and I went in Cage's room.
Over the couple of days the cables connected to his body had reduced to only 2, one for oxygen and the other for food. I took a seat and placed my hand over his small one.

"Hey champ." I whispered lowly not knowing if he was hearing me or not. "So the doctor says you are a very strong boy just like your mama, I'm sorry for not being there, I'm here now and I swear to you I'm not never going to let anything happen to you or your baby sister and mama ever again."
I placed a kiss on his forehead. "I'll come visit you soon ok, I promise."
Bidding him goodbye, I went to the dungeon where we were keeping Damon, he still hadn't said anything despite the torture inflicted on him.
"Hugo leave us." I instructed and with a bow he left leaving me with Damon all alone. "Still not willing to talk?"
He raised his head and chuckled.
"Fine, suit yourself." I shrugged grabbing a chair and sat in front of him. With only silver bars shielded by a spell separating us. "I have a question for you, why Rosalie?"
His eyes sparked at the mention of her name. I had managed to get some valuable information from his right hand man Tony who later betrayed him. Apparently Damon was not for the idea of torturing Cage and Rosalie after abducting them, he had different plans for them but when Tony found out he switched sides and helped Martin take him and all the men loyal to him down before he could ruin their plans.
"See it doesn't make any sense, your clan wanted my mate's blood to complete a very important ritual, why you had different plans for her and my son is what I want to know?"
"I'm sure that sellout already told you everything you need to know." He grumbled. "Stop bothering me."
"That's the problem, he knew you planned on kidnapping them again and taking them to a remote location only you knew of." I rephrased what Tony had told me. "But your reasons are unknown."

"Leave me the hell alone pup." He granted closing his eyes.
Unlike Tony, Damon was older, probably just a year or three younger than my father. He had few grey hairs littered in his silky red hair, he was huge in stature and had an incredible build for someone his age but the qualities that struck me the most where his amber eyes and attitude it reminded me so much of someone but I just couldn't figure out who it was.
Sighing at how uncooperative he was I got up and started heading to the door when I remembered Ackerly had told me that he had inquired about Rosalie earlier.
"Oh, you asked how she was." I stood turning back to the man who's eyes where still closed. "She's still in a comma."
At the mention of the word comma his eyes opened wide.
"She should be awake and alright by now." He stared at me clearly confused. "What did you do to her!"
He got up from the floor and held onto the bars that were clearly burning his flesh but he seemed not to care, his eyes where focused on me, his expression was murderous. He kept pulling at the chains that confined his feet and arms.
"I did nothing, that bastard you were working with gave her some sort of poison no one can seem to bloodly figure out!" I yelled back
His hostile behavior changed at my words and he immediately became worried.
"You need to get me out of here." He declared.
"Yah right for all I know you're the one who gave it to that scumbag so he could kill her and my daughter."
"I would never hurt her the way you have!" He snapped angrily.
Concluding that Damon was not going to give me anything valuable I left and went to see Cage. I rumbled on and on for hours about how Damon was difficult to deal with when something clicked in my mind.
"Thank you champ." I kissed his forehead and rushed back to the dungeon. I needed to prove something before I came to a conclusion.
On a normal day you'd have found Damon seated in the middle of the cell with his eyes closed and in a meditation position but today it was different, he was pacing back and forth seemingly deep in thought, worry was spread across is features and he seemed very tense.
Walking further into the room he only noticed I was there when I took a seat in front of him and cleared my throat to get his attention.
"Finally here to let me out?" He asked his eyes staring into mine.
"Nope." I shook my head. "On the contrary, I'm here to verify a theory I've come up with over the few hours I left."
"I don't have time for this." He grumbled getting aggressive.
"You know I've been raking my head trying to pinpoint who you remind me of over the past couple of days, it's been bothering me to the core, I can barely sleep all I think is why, it's the question that's been eating me up since I found out about you and now I have my answer." I chuckled in disbelief. "This entire time I've been asking you the wrong questions and trying to find answers elsewhere when in fact the answers I needed for this to make even the slightest bit of sense was right in front of me, starring me in the face."

Fire and Blood
There are a lot of stories about people reborn into a fantasy world but most such individuals seem to be young, inexperienced and forced to start from the bottom up. But who attempts to summon a nobody, expending vast magical power to do so? What if there is an effort to summon a champion of the celestial host and strip them of their free will, binding them by their True Names only to be foiled as they vacate themselves to follow possession by another? What if the one summoned from something approximating our own world is a veteran in her thirties who now finds herself in a form alien, powerful, but far from invulnerable? It involves a whole lot of fire.
