《Marigold; Adventures of Scarlet Lady and Chat》Chapter 11

"I can't believe that stupid Akuma bully messed up my hair, and on top of that, I have to do this EVEN STUPIDER EVIL PROJECT! Ugh, Sabrina is so cruel making me do it all on my own! I haven't done my own homework in five years! She's being ridiculous! Utterly and totally ridiculous," Chloe ranted.
Tikki lay upside down on her tiny cat bed, "Whatever you say, Chloe."
Chloe rolled her eyes at the tiny kwami, "You know, you're so lazy! Always just laying around, eating snacks, doing nothing useful! I don't even know why I got you that stupid dog pillow!"
Tikki finished munchy on her cookie.
"Ugh. So. Lazy! Just like that Marinette brat!"
Now that made Tikki's blood boil.
Fine. If Chloe thought Tikki was lazy, then Tikki was going to start doing stuff. And Chloe was NOT going to like it.
"AHHH!!!" Chloe screamed as she slipped on her whipped cream covered bathroom floor.
"Why is the floor covered in-UGH!!!" Tomato soup poured from the faucet that Chloe had been trying to use.
Chloe stormed outside her bathroom and into her bedroom, "Wh-AHH!" A large, black rat sat on Chloe's bed munching on cheese.
"RATTTTTTT!!!" Chloe screamed and ran back into her bathroom, grabbing a towel. She laid it on the floor among a hundred others so she wouldn't slip. Suddenly, guacamole dripped from her ceiling right onto Chloe. She looked up to find the entire ceiling covered in it.
She screamed in rage.
Meanwhile, Tikki happily munched on her cookie to the beautiful sounds of, "Wait, why is my hair curler on...AHH! Fire! Fire! My bathrobe is on FIRE!"
And the best part was when Chloe's butler finally did arrive, Chloe had to tell him (Somewhat) that she had created the giant mess or risk giving up her secret. Tikki finished her cookie and watched as Chloe tried to explain to her butler why the giant mess wasn't her fault, just that whipped cream and guacamole had mysteriously gotten into her bathroom without her knowing. In the bedroom she'd been in for the last three hours.
You know...Maybe being Chloe's kwami wasn't such a boring thing after all.
...
"Alya...you do know Marinette is gonna just about murder you when she sees you right?" Nino asked.
Alya played innocent, "Why, whatever do you mean, Nino?"
Nino gave Alya a look, "You know exactly what I mean. Telling her and Adrien the four of us were going to the movies, then, telling me we canceled it when in reality you just wanted to get Mari and Adrien alone at the theater...ring a bell?"
"Oh, that! Ya, I can't believe I forgot to tell them I canceled it."
"Als..."
"Okay, fine Nino. You caught me. I'm trying to get Mari and Adrien together. But what's so bad about that? Everyone knows how crazy Adrien is about Marinette...well, except Mari..." Alya stated, dropping the innocent act.
Nino looked bewildered at Alya, "You mean Mari doesn't know?"
Alya threw her pen up in the air and caught it, "Oblivious as anything."
"Oh...yikes...Okay, so I get what you're saying with Mari...but if she doesn't like him, why force it on her?"
"Not like Adrien? Oh no! She has the biggest crush on him ever...she just doesn't know it yet. And because I'm Marinette's bestie, it's my job to make sure she doesn't doom herself to a life of loneliness...and if you're really Adrien's best friend, you'll make sure Marinette doesn't -Without knowing it of course- doom him to a life of loneliness by helping me help realize her love for Adrien, and in the end help Adrien!"

Nino paused and gave Alya a funny look, then groaned, "You're making my head hurt...but okay. What do you want me to do?"
...
"You're crazy Alya! This is never gonna work," Nino whispered into his intercom.
"Hush Nino! She's coming," Alya whispered back.
Marinette, aka Butterfly (That was short for 'Butterfly of sadness till she finds out she's in love with Adrien, and the two of them start dating then get Marinette and have Alya as their maid of honor and Nino as their best man' Great name, right?) walked into view.
"Alya, are you sure Nino has a crush on me? He doesn't look nervous at all..." Marinette quietly spoke into her intercom.
Alya pressed the button on the intercom in her left ear, "Well he's a good actor! Now, remember, Marinette. Be nice, and make him see what a great friend you are...then tell him you're in love with someone else..."
"But I don't want to lie to Nino...and I also don't want to tell him about my crush on Chat Noir..."
"It's either that or break his heart. At least this way he'll understand," Alya prompted.
"I...Okay...but who do I tell him I'm in love with?"
"Umm...it has to be believable...who do you spend a lot of time with?" Alya asked, hoping Marinette would catch the hint. She didn't.
"Umm...I just finished doing a school project with Kim...Should I say, Kim?"
"Kim? No way! Nino would never believe that. He'd think that you're just saying it to try and spare his feelings, which is even worse than just straight out telling him you don't like him."
"Okay...umm...-"
"Alya, what's holding Marinette..er, Butterfly up? I thought you said she was coming," Nino asked, his voice coming through Alya's other intercom.
"On minute Nino..." Alya hissed into her right ear intercom and Marinette said, "Als? You there?"
"What Mari?" Alya snapped.
"Hey...no need to get feisty. I just said, 'what about Nathaniel?' I mean, he does like me, and I did technically go on a date with him..."
"No...on so many levels, ."
"Als...don't you think he's getting antsy? Nino that is...I was supposed to meet him, like, fifteen minutes ago!"
"Say, Adrien! YOU SPEND THE MOST TIME WITH ADRIEN! Adrien, Adrien, Adrien. All you gotta say."
"..." Marinette was silent. Then, "Alya...is this another one of your matchmaker games?"
"Umm...I...You..."
"Alya! I can't believe you! Let me guess, you were the one who convinced poor Nino to expose having a crush on me, and ask me out! All so I could say I was in love with Adrien. Alya, this is a new low. I mean, trying to get me and Adrien alone together at the movies, annoying, but all in good fun. But this? Come on Als."
"No Mari, it-it's not like that."
"Then what is it like? Huh?"
"..."
Marinette took a deep breath over the intercom, "Listen Als, you got me into this mess, you're gonna get me out of it. What do I do...and I swear if you bring Adrien into this at all..."
"I-okay...You know the new kid?"
"Logan?"
"Ya..."
"But he's such a flirt!"
"Exactly...tell Nino you like him...Nino will understand."
"Okay...I hope you're right Als."
"Oh, and Mari...Adrien may or may not be in the bushes coaching Nino on how to act cool around you."

"ALYA CESAIRE!"
...
"Marinette? Liking Logan? Logan?" I asked in despair.
"Wow...he really didn't seem her type," Plagg commented.
I sat up from where I lay on my couch, "I don't get it! What's that guy got that I don't?"
"Sense of humor, he's a bad boy, puns... I mean, is it just me, or is Marinette always giggling when he puns."
"Hmm...I hadn't noticed...Puns...That's a good idea! You know, maybe I should give Marinette a visit."
"You gonna finally ask her out on that smoothie date?" Plagg asked dryly.
"Nope...but Chat Noir might."
Plagg gave me a long look, then shrugged, "Eh, do whatever you like. I'm not gonna go all 'Tikki' on you about how being a superhero is not an escape, it's a service. A sacrifice....you know. So, let's do it!"
I smiled at my kwami, ignoring the curiosity of what a 'Tikki' was, "Alright...but after school tomorrow. "
Plagg suddenly frowned, "You're not chickening out on me already, are you?"
"What! No...I'm just...just..."
"Chickening out."
...
"Alya. I really, really, really think trying to salvage this is a bad idea. We've already made a mess of it. Why make it worse?" Nino asked.
"We're not making it worse, Nino. We're making it better! It's a fool-proof plan! We hint to Logan that Mari likes him, he flirts with her, Adrien gets jealous and rushes to Marinette's rescue. She realizes she's in love with Adrien, and BOOM! Who do the two love-birds have to thank? Their two best friends, that's who!" Alya argued.
Nino sighed, "How do I let you pull me into these kinds of things?"
"Because you know I'm right."
"Ugh...I feel like there should be many ways this could go wrong, yet I can't think of a single one-"
"Great! Stick with that."
...
"Hey, Marinette," Logan said smiling, as he slid onto the bench I sat on.
"Umm...hi Logan?" I said, trying to conceal my unease. Ever since I'd told Nino I had a crush on Logan, I'd been feeling guilty.
"So, a little bird tells me you've been crushing on a certain dude," Logan smirked.
"What?" How could he have found out about Chat? No one knew...well, no one except Alya. And even though she acted a little crazy sometimes, I trusted her and knew she would never tell.
"H-How did you find out? Who told you?"
Logan laughed, "Is that really important? I think we both know what really matters...and you know, I have a hunch he likes you too."
"What? How would you know if he liked me?" I asked, confused...Did Logan know Chat Noir's secret identity?
Logan laughed again, like I was the cutest little thing (Which, by the way, was super cringy and annoying) "Oh, me and 'him' happen to be very close...practically the same person."
"Then...then...then that means, you know who he is?" I asked.
Logan smiled, "Yes I know Marinette..."
"Oh," What could I say to that? Should I ask him about Chat openly? Or about his identity?
"Marinette...you should know that your 'Prince' is hoping for his Princess to realize the truth," Logan drawled on.
The Prince Kitty thing. I couldn't believe Logan knew about that.
I looked up at him to see him holding one of those plastic dollar store crowns, smirking.
Then, Logan leaned in. Oh my gosh! He was gonna tell me Chat's identity!
Logan whispered, "I like you too," then leaned in further to kiss me.
I did the only thing my brain would process. I slapped him and screamed.
I jumped up, and took a few steps back while Logan shouted, "OW! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT FOR?"
"You nearly kissed me, you goon!"
"Well ya! I thought that's what you wanted. You were giving me the signals and-"
"Signals? What signals? I haven't given you a single signal! I don't even know what a signal is!"
"What? But, what about what I heard Nino and Alya talking about. About Nino being upset with you being in love with me, but understanding and wanting you to be happy?"
"Oh no...Oh, Logan, that was...oh, I can't explain, but it wasn't what you think," Marinette, you've made a giant muddle of things!
"What was it then? Hmm?" Logan asked, suddenly defensive.
"I-I-You-"
"Oh. I see now. This was all some sick practical joke! Ha. Ha. Very funny. So where are the hidden cameras? Is Nino filming somewhere? Has Alya already posted this to the internet? On the school website?" Logan asked, humorless and angry.
("Nino! Duck..." Alya exclaimed, pulling him fully out of view of the window. "Oh, I knew this was a bad idea..." Nino moaned, putting away his phone that had been videotaping. "Well, it would have gone better if Adrien had simply answered his phone!" Alya retorted. Nino shook his head, "Well, Marinette's in a giant mess now...and it's all our fault.")
"No! It's not like that, I swear!" I tried to explain.
"Give it a rest Marinette!"
"I-"
"Just go away!"
I could feel tears pricking my eyes, so I stood and ran. We'd been in the main area of the school, and thankfully no one was around. I ran as fast as I could to one of the empty classrooms. I didn't even bother to turn the lights on.
I just sat down and sobbed.
Little did I know that a black butterfly was being made just for me and my misery.
...
"Come on Adrien! I'm SOOOOOOoooOOOO hungry! Just one more piece of camembert?"
"You just ate two whole wheels of it, Plagg! Besides, I smell bad enough already," I chuckled at my kwami.
Suddenly, Plagg flew from his hiding place and looked around, "Do you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
"Someone's crying..."
I listened, but all I heard was the sound of kids at lunch.
"This way," Plagg began to lead me up the stairs towards the empty classrooms.
Suddenly, I heard it too. Someone was crying.
"Plagg, hide," I whispered and walked towards the open doorway of a classroom.
I immediately saw someone sitting on the floor in the corner sobbing.
I switched on the lights to find...Marinette?
"Marinette...are you okay?"
Her head snapped up. Her eyes were red a puffy, and tears leaked down her cheeks...Yet I thought she looked beautiful.
"A-Adrien?" Her voice cracked.
I came next to her and sat down, "Hey...what's going on?"
She looked at me for a moment, then tried to smile, "Nothing. Just awful teenage hormones, nothing big!"
I gave her a once over, then, "Mari...I know you better than that. It's okay. You can trust me."
She gave me another look. In the middle of it, though, her eyes filled with tears. Then came the awful heart-shattering sob. Then another.
Then, she was crying all over again, "I-I-I'm such an a-a-awful per-person!"
I awkwardly tried to pat her gently on the back, but then she full-on hugged me, sobbing into me.
I wrapped my arms around her, and let her cry, "Hey...it's gonna be okay. Mari, I'm pretty sure you're the least awful person I've ever met!"
"No-No-No I'm not! I-I I-lied to Nino, I yelled at Al-Alya, and then I made L-Lo-Logan think-think tha-that-" Then she sobbed harder.
"Hey...it's okay, Mari. Alya and Nino are our best friends. Whatever you may have done couldn't have been bad enough to stop that friendship...I may not know much about friends, but I do know that you three are the bestest friends I've ever, and could ever have. Marinette, you are the sweetest, most patient, most thoughtful person I've ever met...you remind me of my mom in that way...But Mari, you're not perfect. No one is. And whatever mistakes you've made, you gotta admit to them, and do your best to fix them...and if you wanted, I could help."
Marinette looked up at me with her big, watery, blue eyes that made my insides turn to jelly, "Th-Thank you, Adrien. That's exactly what I needed to hear."
Then she reached up and gently put a hand on my face and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I knew I must be turning bright red, but I didn't care...This might just be the happiest day of my life.
...
"No! The negative emotion has vanished...wait, but I sense something else. Something...angry. Wonderfully angry. Go, fly my Akuma, and evilize this aching heart!" Said the voice of the Owner of the Butterfly Miraculous.
You're probably wondering who exactly Logan is. Logan Mendez was from Goult, France. His family had been planning to move to Paris for over a year, but when the Akuma attacks started, they began to rethink the move. In the correct version of the universe, they ended up deciding to stay in Goult...however, in this version, they keep with their original plan and move to Paris. One of the benefits of Scarlet Lady brought was her popularity. With her always being on TV, the people of France were assured that Paris was still safe...thus, Logan's parents were reassured, and moved. And trouble started...

8 107Ode to Fallen Angels
Jericho, the land of humanity, squirms in pain. Magic has been forbidden for so long in this so called "Age of Silence", that all Arcane knowledge has been presumed lost and irrecoverable, and the echoes of God's Will grow fainter with every passing year. The sight of Demihuman caravans is less frequent every day, as the likes of orcs and elves have learned to no longer beg for help from those who despise them. Clearly, they can expect more from the voracious wild lands than from humankind. Many have succumbed to despair, some driven mad by their fruitless efforts to bring back a Golden Age that they only ever read about in books. And in the middle of it all, in an old chapel lost in the Eastern lands, young Gabrielle lives in complete ignorance. She is another orphan living under the mercy of the Church of the Saints; one bearing the mark of evil in her red hair, the telltale sign of a Witch. In an Age of the Silent, the Prejudiced, and the Hateful, she clings to a single hope: that one day, be it in life or maybe after it all ends, she may find herself forgiven of her sin. The sin of being born.
