CHAPTER XVIII :

Chekhov's gun

【 3𝘳𝘥 𝘗𝘖𝘝 】

Alice, Aurum and Y/N entered the indoor shooting range. The shooting range is relatively empty. The number of people shooting can be counted in your own hands. This place is Aurum's go to place for shooting, precisely because not alot of people go here.

As they set their feet inside, feeling

the cool of the air conditioners.

Y/N's hearing was heightened,

the sound of guns is somewhat...

bringing back memories.

Alice noticed Y/N's anxious expression.

Alice : "Are you fine, Y/N?"

Aurum : "Are you scared? There's

no need to be embarrassed. Guns

aren't for everyone."

Y/N : "No... I'm fine..."

Aurum : "No need to push yourself."

Y/N : "It's really fine..."

Truth is, Y/N is quite anxious, his heart thumps like a loud strike on a drum whenever he hears a gun fire.

But Y/N wants to conquer this fear.

It was a gun that almost killed him

but it was also a gun that saved him.

And in regard to this, he has

to think about the positive side.

Besides, gun shooting, even though

he's rich he had never went gun shooting before, so he's quite excited and eager to hold a gun and feel its recoil slightly push him back

whenever he clicks the trigger.

The three rented out guns,

they all rented pistols.

For Y/N he rented a Beretta 92FS 9mm.

They entered the shooting range.

Y/N, wearing protective ear muffs,

stood at the firing line, he took a sigh, anxiously smiling as he held the gun in his hands.

Aurum : "Stand firm."

Y/N stood firmly, patiently waiting

for Aurum's instructions.

Aurum : "Place your left foot ahead of your right foot. Bend your left knee slightly. Extend your right hand, aiming at the target, put your left hand on the grip."

Y/N followed her every instruction, which resulted into him standing in a weaver stance.

Aurum smiled.

Aurum : "Fire at will."

Y/N closed his one eye, using his open eye to aim down at the sight, he aligned his gun at the target with careful precision.

He slowly pulled the trigger.

He felt the recoil throughout his body as the bullet traveled to the target in a blink of an eye.

Y/N thought that it was fast

as the bullet that killed Emma.

Aurum : "Congratulations!

You fired your first gun!"

Alice : "Congratulations, Y/N."

Alice smiled towards her boss.

Y/N : "Th-Thanks..."

After shooting, the three went to a nearby fastfood restaurant to eat lunch.

The three were sitting at the same table. Y/N and Alice were sitting next to each other while Aurum was sitting alone on the chair opposite to them.

Y/N took a bite out of his

borgar, he thinks that the

shooting was certainly fun.

The adrenaline and the excitement really causes you to smile whenever

you hit a dummy target from afar.

He understands why alot of people love to do shooting as a recreational activity.

And by the end of it, he managed to control his anxious attitude towards guns.

After some time of chatting and eating, the three of them finished lunch, it is now time to go home.

But Aurum has something to do first.

Aurum : "Y/N?" She called out his name.

Y/N : "Yes?" He asked as he took

a sip from his preferred drink.

Aurum : "Can you wait here?

I'll just show something to Alice."

Y/N : "Sure thing."

Aurum stood up.

Aurum : "Alice, follow me." She said

as she started walking away from the table.

Alice looked at Y/N, her eyes

intently looking at his eyes.

Alice : "I'll be back, Y/N."

Y/N nodded as he took

a sip from his drink again.

Alice stood up and followed

Aurum outside the restaurant.

They went to the parking area

of the restaurant, where they

walked to Aurum's car.

Alice : "So what are you

gonna show me, Aurum?"

Aurum opened the trunk of her car.

Aurum : "This, come closer." She spoke, referring to the black briefcase inside the trunk.

Alice's lips parted, interested

in what's inside the briefcase.

Aurum opened the briefcase,

revealing a black Uzi inside.

Alice : "Woah."

Aurum : "I know, it's a little gift for you. I heard about what happened at the mansion. It's better if you have a more powerful gun.

Alice : "Thank you, I can

better protect Y/N with this."

Aurum smiled.

Aurum : "You're really

determined at protecting him."

Alice : "Ofcourse, he's my favorite client." She blushed, smiling like a schoolgirl.

Aurum : "You love him, don't you?"

Alice bashfully nodded,

her smile never ending.
