《The Player Broke My Leg》Chapter 17

"I'm not disappointed," Evan said as the credits rolled on the movie they had just finished.

They were both sitting on the couch side by side. Evan rested his arm on the back of the couch halfway through the movie, but I didn't notice since I was to involved in what was happening in front of me.

"There's a post credit thing but Netflix doesn't show it," I say as I take a piece of popcorn out of the bowl Evan had resting on his lap. "It had Kyle in it."

"Kyle?" Evan asked in confusion as he held his head in his free hand. "The foster sister from the second movie?"

"That's the one," I told him with a nod.

"Huh." Evan ran his hand through his hair, messing it up slightly. "I'm just still trying to wrap my head around on there being more then one Chucky."

"Yeah, the first time I watched it I was so confused. I was beginning to think it was all in her head," I told him as I straightened up and stretched. The sound of joints cracking filled the room, causing me to let out a moan of satisfaction. Evan looked at me with a big smile plastered on his face. I look at him in confusion as I lowered my arms. "What?"

"Nothing," he chuckled as he shook his head. "So, what now?"

I shrugged. "No clue. I don't have much here except for a couple of board games, but I don't think you would want to be demolished in Scrabble."

"But I like Scrabble. And who's to say that I won't wipe the floor with you," Evan said confidently as he sat forward.

"Is that a challenge?" I asked as I raise an eyebrow.

"I think it is," he said as he glanced at the grandfather clock that was against the wall. "But I think that might have to wait until tomorrow."

I look up to see that it was a little after four. "Crap."

"Well if you want to play I can stay," Evan said quickly.

"No no," I say as I put my hands up and laughed. "I have to have dinner at the Kings tonight."

"Jasper's family?" Evan asked as he looked at me in disbelief. "Why?"

I shrug. "Family friends. Plus they're good people. Not Jasper though. I don't know what happened there."

"Yeah that is a mystery," he said, bitting his lip. "Want me to go with you?"

I look up at him and smile at his sweetness. "No, it's okay. Besides, I don't want to be there any longer than I have to."

"Well, if you you change your mind," Evan said as he pointed to himself. "I'll come running."

"Don't be a show off," I say as I glanced down at my leg that I had propped up on the table.

"Fine, I guess I just have to carry you then," Evan said with a little smirk.

"Yeah, like I'd let that happen," I say as I hit the back button on the remote so it goes back to the description of Cult of Chucky.

"Is that a challenge?" Evan asked as a mischievous smirk started to form on his lips.

I look at him and frown as he uses the same words against me. "Looks like I'm rubbing off on you."

Evan shrugs as he leans back. "I suppose. What are you going to do about it?"

"Um...," I hesitate as I look up at him. "No clue. Maybe transfer your soul into a Good Guy doll."

"Yes, do it," Evan said quickly with a smile on his face. "There's so much that I want to do."

I look at him with a confused look on my face. "You want to murder people?"

"What? No. Well, maybe if they deserve," he said with a shrug. "I just want to freak people out. It would be fun to just move around a house and let people slowly slip into madness."

"Well I'll start practicing my voodoo then if it means so much to you," I say sarcastically as I turned my body to face him and laid my head against his arm.

"That's my girl," Evan says with a large smile on his face as he leaned forward and gently pressed his lips against mine.

Butterflies flutter in my stomach as Evan kisses me. I smile against his mouth as he reaches up and places his hand on my cheek. It was warm and very comforting.

Evan pulled away and I was a little disappointed, but I got over it when he wrapped his arm that was behind the couch and wrapped it around my waist. He pulled me close to him and I rested my head on his shoulder.

"What are you doing tomorrow?" Evan asked suddenly.

I thought for a moment. "Nothing important. Maybe sleep in, but I do that everyday. Why?"

"I don't have to work tomorrow and I was wondering if you wanted to spend the day together?"

"Sure," I say without thinking. I had nothing better to do, and I'd rather not spend the day with Jasper.

A big smile spreads across his face. "Alright, I'll start planning."

"Oh, can one of our stops be the store?" I ask as I look up at him.

"Anything for you," he says softly as he gently gives my side a squeeze. I couldn't help but smile as I cozy up his side. "So, is there anything else you want to watch?"

"Not really," I say as I glanced at the screen. The screen had gone black since we let it go for too long. "Tell me something able you that no one knows."

"No one?" He asked as he turned his head to look at me. "That's hard. Let's me think," he says as he closes his eyes. "I hate mashed potatoes."

I let out a laugh. "How can you not like mashed potatoes?"

"I don't like the texture," he told me with a small smile.

"How dare you," I say in a serious tone.

A smile broke out on his face. "What about you? Tell me something no one knows about you."

"Well that's easy," I say. Seeing as to how I'm not close with anyone since I really don't got any close friends and my family enjoys spending time away from me, no one really knows anything about me. I'm pretty sure there no one who even remembers my birthday. "I want to leave this town and never look back."

"Me too," Evan said as he rested his head on top of mine.

Suddenly, my phone that was on the arm of the couch. I reach over and grab it to see that it was Emily. She texted me that dinner would be ready in about twenty minutes, and that I should come over.

"I'm being summoned," I tell Evan as I lean forward and wiggled to the edge of the couch. Evan grabbed my crutches and help me on to my feet.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" Evan asked as he helped me get on to of my crutches.

"I'm sure," I tell him as I look up at him.

"Alright," Evan said with a smile as he reached down and grabbed my hand.

"So, what are you going to do tonight?" I asked as I started to lead the way to the front door.

"Probably nothing."

I slip on my flip flops that I kept by the door. "Lame."

"Lame?" Evan laughed as he opened the door and stepped out. He held it open as we both went to stand on the front porch.

It was sunny outside, and it was the first time I've been outside today. Birds were chirping, and the neighborhood kids where riding their bikes down the street. It was warm out, but the breeze tousled my blond hair.

"Yeah. Go do something fun," I tell him as I start to walk down the front steps.

"But that sounds exhausting," he said as he walked behind me. I shake my head and chuckle.

"I'll see you tomorrow," I say to him as I stop next to his car that was parked in my driveway.

Evan stood in front of me and wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. He kissed me on the forehead before lifting a hand and brushed a strand of hair off my face.

"I'll pick you up at eleven," he says as he drops his arms and goes to open the door. "Let me know if Jasper does anything. I don't trust him."

A confused look appears on my face. "No sane person would trust him."

Evan nodded in agreement as he opened the car door and got in. As he turned on the car, he rolled down the window and stuck his head out.

"Have fun tonight," he called out as he put the car into reverse and rolled down the driveway. Once he was gone, I turned and started to walk to the Kings.
