---Flowey's Pov---

I could feel the world Reset after a loud hum of energy echoed across the walls. I couldn't believe it- she managed to fix the core.

My expression was nothing short of a smile as the world changed into something much more brighter. Going back to a time where the atmosphere wasn't out of balance from the unstable energy, I could feel the presence of both of my eyes. The Reset fixed my appearance... the pain that I previously felt was finally gone.

The emptiness that I previously drowned in meant nothing in comparison to everything that happened.

She did it.

She managed to fix everything.

She gave us a final chance to be happy.

Although... I found myself narrowing my eyes with confusion.. She seemed so familiar, so close... but what was her name? What did she look like? Why did I feel so bothered?!

Sighing as I stared up into the hole of the ceiling, I could remember that Frisk would be falling soon. The memories that I lived with from our terrible future became nothing more than blurry. Did it really happen? Were all of the Monsters eating Humans? Were they all starving?

Maybe it was all just a bad dream.

Yeah... a bad dream...

Turning around at the sound of something hitting the soft flower bed, I took this as my queue to get into position. I moved on to the next room, waiting for Frisk to walk in.

Once they did, I gave them my normal cheery smile, but I couldn't help my own thoughts on them. 'The dumb, headstrong type. Here we go again.'

"Please do not suggest that my intelligence measures down to the equivalence of a rock."

Sharply turning my head to look around in shock, Frisk stood in place while giving me a weird look. Was I hearing things? Did I know that voice? Why did it sound so familiar... huh. "Flowey."

Weird, Frisk never spoke first. I always initiated contact with them primarily, but now they were the first to speak? "What?"

My tone may of seemed a bit harsh, but I really couldn't help it. Frisk seemed very confused as they struggled to find their next words. "This feels weird... It was a Reset, but I didn't do it..."

Wait... WHAT? "If YOU didn't do it... then who the hell did?!"

"I-I have no clue! But... for some reason, I can't Reset. And ugh, my head! I feel like I suddenly got thrown down an endless pit, as if the Reset was taking forever to put us back here!" They groaned out while holding their head firmly.

Strange, I knew that them feeling like that could only mean on thing... we must of jumped back quite a bit in time. I mean, even I felt kinda sick.

Shaking my head, I decided to cut this short upon seeing Toriel. Things would progress here shortly, and without a Reset there would be no going back. Everything could finally move forward.

---Frisk's Pov---

One year has passed, but I decided to stick around for a bit longer before breaking the barrier. Something was different this round, and it was the fact that there was a new face in the Underground! And wow... did he seem pretty confused.

I could hear him scribbling away on a paper in the Lab, speaking in some kind of strange language... and when Alphys greeted him, he would return to his English speech and then say something along the lines of "This is impossible..." Or... "Something is missing."

And then just the other day, I caught him saying something else that was pretty odd. He said it to himself, but It made me turn away from one of the dog shaped Amalgamates that I was petting. He was facing Alphys when he spoke, but the words were not meant for her. "Are you really my assistant? That doesn't seem quite right... hmm..."

Because I was so curious about those words, I decided to approach Sans with it. He has been acting more erratic lately, in fact, everyone has been a little bit jumpy. But Sans- he was the worst. When I saw him, he constantly seemed distant and always lost In thought. His hands would reach out slightly in an effort to grab something that he thought was right in front of him, but then he'd pull away with a mixture of confusion and disappointment.

That day when I came to him, I clearly asked him about what the new Monster, W.D Gaster, had said. "Hey Sans..."

He was lost in thought again while sitting on his couch, staring blankly at a wall... until I decided to snap my fingers in front of his face. Everything seemed fine, like he was back to his usual pun-loving self. "Huh? Heh, thanks for snapping me out of it, bucko."

I smiled slightly, offering a small nod. "Um... so I was at the Lab today. And Gaster- well... he said something strange while looking at Alphys."

"Yeah?" He said, looking kind of bored as he laid back into the green couch.

"Yep... he wasn't talking to her, but he said something like... are you really my assistant?"

Sans seemed to be lost in thought again, the words hit him hard... "Are you... alright?"

"Yeah." He said slowly. Watching as his hand moved up towards his skull, he started to scratch a little off to the side of it, his fingers digging in to the bone to produce a scraping sound. "I just have an itch... that I can't quite scratch."

For a moment there, he looked deranged. Lost, but psychotic as he grinned sadistically. Was this Sans? Why did I feel like I was being threatened right now?!

And then, as if it wasn't even there... he stopped and gave me a comical grin. "Don't worry 'bout it, kiddo. Gaster is still adjusting to life in the Lab, he is probably a lil' bit stressed."

Right... and that strange expression that he gave me was probably a bad daydream. Everything is fine... perfectly okay.

---Toriel's Pov---

Something seemed different once we crossed the barrier. It has been two years before Frisk, my now adopted child, managed to successfully make this happen. Once we stepped outside, Sans seemed to hesitate... as if something made him suddenly anxious.

After seeing the beautiful sunset, I brushed off his strange attitude as nothing more than surprise. I mean, who wouldn't be astonished by this beautiful view?

We all stared into the sunset together, but it wasn't until several months later that I began to notice strange things between both Sans and Gaster. They were becoming progressively more nervous, and Frisk was spending a lot of time on their computers and phones.

When I asked my child about what they were doing, they said something along the lines of a false advertiser trying to contact them- and that they were being nice by blocking the phone number. Such a good child. Always looking out for their friends.

I smiled down at them, preparing a for a large party that was to celebrate us being above ground with schools and jobs now opened to us. I was absolutely delighted!

I could tell that life was going to get better from here! But yet again, once everyone came over.... I noticed how Sans acted strangely distant around both Alphys and Undyne. It was obvious that he was avoiding the two of them, with some kind of hostility that we both found to be strange for him to have.

When I tried to pry an answer from him, the skeleton who usually seemed so cheerful simply responded in a deep tone that was void of all emotion. "They did somethin'... I can't remember what, but I know that I was pretty damn offended by it..."

And then, he started to scratch at the top of his skull, as if he were searching desperately for a memory that just wasn't there. I tried to smile warmly to my friend out of understanding, but I knew that I was feeling something different from a desire to comfort him.

It was an instinct, telling me to run.

As soon as the screaming for me to flee was there, it vanished. Just like that terrifying expression that he just wore. "It's probably nothin', Tori."

He mused out... I laughed, but watched as he avoided them for the rest of the night.

Once everyone was gone, I noticed Frisk eyeing him nervously. They tried to humor him with a small pun in the hopes that he'd tell one back, but I wasn't expecting the type of puns to be shared by him. "Haha... ha... um... you know, Sans! You should really... ketchup, in your puns!"

They held out a bottle of ketchup towards him, which I provided in the hopes that he'd stop looking like... this. But he only took the bottle with a look of confusion, as if the gesture had suddenly reminded him of something. "Ya know, kiddo. Ya should never tell a skeleton what ta do. "

What should of been a joke sounded more like a threat, but Frisk laughed it off before leaving awkwardly. This was a strange night.

---(Y/n)'s Pov---

Despite my young age of only five years old, I was practically a genius. I tried to hide this fact so that things would progress well... but alas, my heart has been broken. Shattered.

Two years ago, Monsters returned to the surface. They were now living happily among Humans... so naturally, I wanted to see Sans again. Assuming that he wanted to communicate with me, I managed to find his phone number through a vast array of tools... that I had previous experience with.... er...

Anyway. Even though I was only three at the time, I snatched a phone from one of my parents. I wrote him a text that was small, but simple. Of course I wrote it in hands, knowing that he'd understand. At first, everything seemed simple enough until I got a text back... one that I didn't want to see. The conversation went something like this:

'Hello, Sans. I hope that you are doing well... I trust that you still remember?'

There was no response for a moment. So, I decided to write one thing that would hopefully get his attention. '(Y/n).'

And then, the reply that was returned to me was far from my own expectations. It was written back in Wingdings, which surprised me a bit since I thought Sans to be too lazy to find a program that would write the font.

'Hey, (Y/n). I remember you, but it is probably best that we move on. I'm in a better place now, living with my family. You're a kid, and you should live with yours. After regaining my sanity, I know that we shouldn't be together. I mean, I'm a judge... and you are still a killer. I did what I had to do to survive, to save everyone. But you chose to kill, even if you didn't have to. I am sorry.'

So then... since that is how he felt about us, I decided that I would just end it. I had the opportunity to die to my family in the next few days, which would be on my birthday, so I wasn't too concerned by the loneliness. No one would care about me if I were to die, I wouldn't be missed... after all, he saw me as a murder, that we shouldn't even try to be together in the slightest.

Putting on my dark clothes before climbing up a chair with a pen in hand, I decided that I would at least write a letter before my final day. Sans remembered me, so saying my final goodbyes would be perfectly fine. Since two years ago, he blocked me from being able to communicate, this felt like the next best option.

I wasn't worried about having this sent to their home, especially since I knew how to do just about everything. I knew how to make Sans receive the letter properly. Sure I could live a life of fame with my knowledge, but what was the point? No one cared, not even Gaster who had me risk everything to put their lives back together.

For me, every other second that I chose to live in this world was nothing shy of hell.

As I clutched my chest tightly, I could feel the weight of my Soul, throbbing in agony at the weight of betrayal. I remembered him easily, thanks to my ability to perceive things. It didn't take long for me to pinpoint what was missing, and without him...

Life was too empty.

---Gaster's Pov---

Something is very, very wrong. Being someone who is known to keep a promise, I felt like I was breaking one. Every step that I took forward into the future that I finally had, was feeling like another step back. And still, I couldn't figure out how I regained my existence.

Sans assured me that I was probably just imagining it... but in the end, I could tell that he felt the same way. We were both missing something that we couldn't move forward without, and something about our Souls were begging for us to go back and find it.

Shaking my head to try and remove the thoughts, I progressed into the depths of the Core to start my day. Something didn't seem to be right with the Core, its readings were telling me that its Energy was faltering.

I went to its main source of power, expecting to find nothing more than a simple error, but instead... once I started to pry into the machine, I actually found something different. A device that I didn't put here.

Crossing my arms with confusion as several glowing hands moved into the wires of the machine to touch the strange object, I felt a sudden jolt that seemed almost haunting. I didn't put this here, but it was sustaining the Core's power! Why is this here? What was I failing to remember?!

Pulling away slightly, I decided to visit the True Lab. So after I managed to close up everything, I started to walk towards the elevator that would lead me there. In the hopes that my main computer would have more information on whatever this was, I kept my pace moving in even steps... but once I reached the Lab, I was met with an unlikely Amalgamate. It was Memoryhead, and it stared at me with a sense of anger. "Is something wrong?"

The voice that came out was slurred, but did sound somehow feminine? It was almost like the Memoryhead was trying to mimic something...

"Find what exactly?" I replied in my language with a curious glance. I knew that these creatures would often spout nonsense, but I felt like this was very important... of course, I wasn't expecting the sudden shift in outburst.

"ThE oNe wHO undeRSTandS The VAlUE of A PromISE, buT cANNot FLeE THe wrATH of HER pAst." It said, its words sounding nearly impossible to understand.

"Wait... who are you talking about? Did this person do something that I should be aware of?! What are you trying to tell me!" By now, I was feeling pitifully desperate for an answer. My Soul felt like it was begging for me to recall something of great importance, but I just couldn't grasp it!

It mocked with a tilt of its head, again speaking with that feminine voice. The Memoryhead was giving me a look of innocence, only to smile sadistically when I uttered three very familiar words.

"A second chance..."

---Sans' Pov---

I sat on the couch while the kiddo played with my phone right next to me. They downloaded a few apps here and there to entertain themselves with, but I didn't really care. Lately, I have been feeling strange.

Scratching at my skull as the days counted down to something that was only making me more and more anxious, Frisk was quick to grab my hand to pull it away from me. "You're scratching too hard, Sans."

"Oh." I said with a small sigh. Small outlines from all of my scraping on my skull were becoming more visible, I was physically harming myself. As a result, everyone would be quick to remind me of what I was doing whenever it happened.

Sinking my body into the couch further, I stared at the tv which was showing Mettaton in all of his glory. But what really surprised me was the fact that Paps wasn't there in the crowd, giving the star of the Underground puppy eyes.

Snatching my phone from Frisk, I was about to call my brother... until he came smashing through the door, almost taking it off of its hinges.

Turning my head slightly to give him a lazy grin, I was quick to put my knuckle against my chin before speaking. "Sup' Bro?"

"BROTHER! THE MOST EXCITING THING HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!" He screamed out while making a face of sheer happiness.

"Yeah? Did Metta ask ya on a date or somethin'?" I asked with a small chuckle. Frisk started to run up to Paps, hugging him with excitement.

"NO, BROTHER. THAT'S NEXT WEEK!" Papyrus said with another tone of happiness. I wanted to sneer at him for the news, but instead I kept my cool. "ACTUALLY, I GOT MAIL FOR THE FIRST TIME! AND IT IS ADRESSED TO THE BOTH OF US! I AM SO HAPPY!"

Huh... mail? Well, I wonder what it says. Guess if it has my name on it too, then it probably isn't something bad. Most people know not to mess with me... so... "Let's hear it, Paps."

"ALRIGHT!" He proclaimed while opening the letter with ease. He was about to read it, but instead... looked very confused. "UM. PERHAPS IT IS FROM GASTER? MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ IT, SANS."

Taking the page from him, I started to casually read through it. There was no particular name from anyone, but my Soul throbbed upon coming in contact with the paper. "To the coolest guy that I know, and to his brother, Sans the skeleton. Out of the time that I spent alive, I found the greatest pleasure being with the both of you. You've reminded me how to trust someone, and even how to have a family."

Papyrus squealed in joy, but this didn't look like Gaster's writing... even if it was written in Wingdings. "I hope that you are both enjoying your time on the surface... everything can finally move forward without any kind of power to stop it. Since there will no longer be any interference, it seems that we have all deemed my presence as unnecessary. Therefore, I wish you both the best and hope that you will find happiness."

Wait a second... why the hell did this sound so fucking familiar? The last thing that I read to myself rather aloud made my eyes go dark, causing me to practically lose it. 'Ps. Sans, if you are reading this... despite wanting to be rid of me in your life as you stated through our last text, I want you to know that I understand. You once told me that... one broken promise tends to happen once or twice to just about anyone. And despite the fact that we both take a promise very seriously, I want you to know that I forgive your desire to forget.'

My next actions were a blur. My eyes filled with tears as I screamed out in pain with my phalanges tearing into my head. In an instant, I teleported into the kitchen and desperately searched for something... and it didn't take long for a loud cracking sound to be heard.

"SANS! ARE YOU ALRIGHT!?" Papyrus yelled with pure horror. Both him and Frisk came rushing through the door to stare at me in .

I was sitting against one of the counters on the floor, slouched down as blood spilled from the newly formed crack in my skull. I almost looked completely unconscious, still as if I were dead. A knife was held in my hand, covered in a sickening red liquid.

Blood poured over my eye socket, only for a single crimson eye to light up in a faint glow as I smirked evilly. My head tilted up slightly to that I could look at them, my expression was far from anything sane.

"Yep. In fact, "
