《The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian》The Witch's Return and a Confession

I had gone to the blacksmiths to check in on their progress with weapons.

"Everything is on schedule my general," A dwarf said, bowing. I smiled weakly at him.

"Thank you so much for your hard work,"

The dwarf nodded and turned to leave.

"Wait my liege," he said.

"Yes?" I asked.

"I saw the Prince, Caspian go down that tunnel with the dwarf Nikabrik. It is just a feeling, but I think you should go check, your majesty."

I nodded.

"Please call me Logan. I'll make sure Caspian is ok."

I jogged down the tunnel.

"Caspian?" I called out. No reply. I neared the entrance to the stone table.

"One drop of Adam's blood and you free me," A familiar voice said.

"Then I am yours, my king."

I looked around the corner and gasped. In a sheet of ice was the White Witch. Caspian was standing with two unidentifiable creatures, Nikabrik nearby. The wolverine-ish creature cut Caspian's palm. The White Witch's hand pushed through the ice like it was jello and Caspian was pushed forward.

"NO!" I screamed, jumping into the room. I reached for my swords and swore, remembering I had left them outside.

"Logan, catch!"

I whipped around and saw Trumpkin, Peter, Lucy, and Edmund. Edmund tossed me my swords and I caught them. The wolverine person jumped forward and Peter fended him off. I looked worriedly at Caspian. He must have been tempted by something because he was now reaching out by himself.

I ran forward to help Peter and I stabbed a vulture looking lady, killing her instantly. I whipped around and saw Edmund, about to be overpowered by the wolverine and I ran over to help him, dodging his claws. I kicked his face upwards, giving Edmund an opening to slash his stomach open. I looked up, I now saw Peter, lowering his sword to offer the witch his own blood. Edmund ran behind the sheet of ice before I could stop him and stabbed the Witch. The ice cracked, falling forward. I ran forward to Edmund and hugged him tightly. He turned to glare at Peter.

"I know. You had it sorted. Edmund patted my back and walked away. I looked over to Caspian and Peter. Peter had an unidentifiable expression on his face. Caspian looked sadly at me.

"How could you?" I growled. I pushed past both of them and followed Edmund. Edmund and I walked silently side by side and we ended up in the stables.

"Are you ok?" Edmund asked.

"I....I heard from Susan that you....cried."

I groaned.

"Susan and her big mouth."

Edmund smiled slightly.

"It's not a bad thing you know, crying. I mean, Lucy used to cry twice a day, if not more." We both laughed.

"It's just...hard for me to cry. It's a sign of weakness and it can drive people away," I murmured.

"But it didn't."

I tilted my head at Edmund. He sighed.

"You literally were sobbing on Caspian and he still practically carried you home."

I groaned again.

"That's because he's kind of stupid, like Peter."

Edmund shrugged.

"Whatever you say."

I put a hand on Edmund's shoulder.

"Changing the subject, you know, we are a long way from Turkish delights and breaking windows with cricket balls,"

We both laughed again.

"I'm very proud of us," Edmund commented. I nodded.

"Me too."

We stood in awkward silence for a few seconds until I cleared my throat.

"Well, I'm covered in Telmarine, wolverine, and vulture blood. I'm going to go get cleaned up."

Edmund nodded.

"See you around."

I grimaced, looking myself over in the mirror. The outfit was a bit feminine for my taste, but it would have to do. I took a deep breath, suddenly feeling jittery. I decided to take a break outside of the base, but someone was already there. I saw Caspian speaking with his professor. I stood quietly at the entrance, not wanting to disturb them.

"You have a chance to become the most noble contradiction in history," I heard the professor say.

"The Telmarine who saved Narnia," I couldn't help but say even though I didn't know what they were talking about. Caspian and the professor looked up at me. The professor got up and walked back into the building.

"Hey," I said, sitting next to him. Caspian sighed.

"Look, General, I'm sorry for-"

I put my finger up to his lips.

"First, don't call me General. It's just Logan."

I let my hand drop down back into my lap.

"And secondly, don't apologize."

Caspian nodded.

"Can I ask you a question?" he murmured. I nodded.

"What happened to your parents? When you were swearing-er, yelling at Peter, you mentioned..."

I sighed. After a few seconds, I spoke.

"Well... when I was seven I went to the market with my mother. I had gotten into a fight with her about something really stupid and I ran away from her."

I took a deep breath.

"My mother had a heart problem, and I knew it. When she was chasing after me, she had a heart attack. She passed away. I...I killed my own mother."

Caspian's eyes widened. I continued my story.

"My father blamed me, as he should have. A year and a half later, he committed suicide while he was drunk. I watched him jump off the building myself. Why do you think I hate heights so much?"

Caspian put an arm around me. My eyes pricked with unshed tears. I must have been really upset, seeing as I didn't murder Caspian right then and there.

"I moved from foster home to foster home. I don't know how many I had gone through. But three years ago, I had started going to the same school as Peter,"

I smiled slightly.

"We became fast friends. When I was kicked out of that foster home, Peter told his parents and they decided to let me move in with them. And I've been there ever since."

I turned to look at Caspian's face.

"I know your pain. I killed both of my parents."

Caspian tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. To my surprise, I didn't have the urge to throw him off the ledge we were sitting on.

"You were only seven," He said in his accent.

"You were just doing what any seven year old would do."

I opened my mouth to reply, but a griffon suddenly landed next to us, making me scream and jump away from Caspian.

"Sorry to interrupt your little cuddle session, your majesties, but the Telmarine army is headed this way in numbers far greater than our own."

"We weren't-" Caspian started to say, but the griffon had flown away. I glanced at Caspian, trying to stop myself from blushing.

"Griffons. They always exaggerate," I grumbled.

"You better suit up. I'm going to find Peter and Edmund."
