"Caspian!" I hissed, running after the sound of his footsteps. I turned the corner and saw him going into a room. I ran into it, and watched him unsheathe his sword and press it against Miraz's throat. Miraz opened his eyes and chuckled.

"Thank goodness you're safe,"

His voice was slimy and made me want to run out of the room and hide, but I unsheathed my swords and also pointed them at him.

"Get up," Caspian snapped at his uncle. Miraz got out of bed, purposely touching his wife before I could stop him. She woke up, staring at me and Caspian.

"Caspian?" she asked.

"Stay where you are," I growled.

"What are you doing?" she demanded.

"I should think it's obvious dear," Miraz smirked.

"You know, some families might consider this inappropriate behavior," Miraz told Caspian.

"That doesn't seem to have stopped you!" Caspian hissed.

"But you are not like me, are you?"

"Caspian, we have to leave!" I hissed at him. He ignored me.

"It's sad," Miraz said, shrugging.

The first time you've shown any backbone and it's such a waste."

"Put the sword down, Caspian," I whipped around to see Miraz's wife, pointing a crossbow at him.

"Shit!" I swore. I had forgotten she was in the room.

"I don't want to do this," she said.

"We don't want you to either,"

I glanced behind me. Susan and Peter had entered the room, pointing their weapons at her. The Telmarine queen shifted her weapon, pointing it at all of us. Miraz put his hands on his hips.

"This used to be a private room."

"Logan, what are you guys doing? You're supposed to be in the gatehouse!" Peter snapped.

"NO!" Caspian barked. His sword hand was shaking and he could barely hold his weapon.

"Tonight, for once, I want the truth! Did you kill my father?"

He backed Miraz against the wall.

"Now we get to it," Miraz said, his voice barely a whisper.

"You said your brother died in his sleep," Miraz's wife said.

"That was more or less true." Miraz replied.

"You son of a bitch!" I exclaimed.

"Caspian, Logan, this won't make things any better," Susan said.

"Shut up Susan!" I snapped, suddenly angry.

"You don't know what it's like to lose a parent!"

"We Telmarines would have nothing had we not taken it," Miraz said before Susan could reply.

"Your father knew that as well as anyone."

"How could you?" Miraz's wife asked, her voice shaky. She slightly lowered her weapon.

"For the same reason you will pull that trigger," Miraz spat.

"For our son!"

I lifted my swords and pointed them to Miraz.

"Stop!" Miraz's wife barked, raising the crossbow at me.

"Stay right there!" Peter yelled at her.

"You need to make a choice, dear" Miraz said to his wife, stepping forward. The sword drew blood.

"Do you want our child to be king? Or do you want him to be like Caspian here?"

He took another step forward.

"FATHERLESS!"

"Noooooo!" Miraz's wife cried.

"Logan!" Susan shouted. Miraz's wife fired an arrow at me. Luckily, she wasn't a good shot so it hit my arm, but I still fell backward. Caspian dropped his sword to catch me. Miraz ran out of the room and Peter ran after him. Caspian slowly lowered me into a chair and pulled out the arrow, making me cry out in pain, while Susan tore some fabric off of her dress to wrap my arm.

"Are you ok, Logan? er-General?" Caspian asked, his brow creased with worry. With my good arm, I snatched the piece of cloth from Susan and threw it to the ground.

"Leave it," I snapped.

"We need to go after Peter."

I stood up and grabbed my swords, sheathing them. I ran after Peter, holding my arm, Susan and Caspian not far behind.

"Peter!" Susan exclaimed.

"Our troops are just outside! Come one!" he yelled back. I exchanged looks with Susan and Caspian. Peter was going to get himself killed. We ran out after him and saw him, pushing the wheel to open the gate.

"Peter!" I shouted.

"It's too late, We have to call it off while we can," Susan pleaded.

"No, I can still do this!" Peter argued.

"You can still do this? Fuck you and your ego, Peter!" I growled. I looked up and saw Telmarine soldiers, starting to gather.

"Help me!" Peter exclaimed, ignoring me. I sighed and Caspian, Susan, and I started pushing the wheel.

"Exactly who are you doing this for, Peter?!" Susan demanded.

"Not for Narnia, and not for us, that's for sure," I growled.

"We're under attack!" I heard a Telmarine soldier shout. I kept on pushing the wheel as fast as I could. A few seconds later, our troops burst in, charging at the Telmarines. I drew my swords and charged after them.

"For Narnia!" I yelled. I hit the blade of a Telmarine soldier and dodged his attack, ducking under his arm and slashing his stomach. I kicked another soldier, sending him sprawling onto a centaur's spear. I looked across the battlefield and saw two Telmarines, about to overpower Caspian. I ran over to him, pulling one of the soldiers and driving him into my blades. I pulled them out and slashed the other Telmarines neck.

"I could have handled it," Caspian said. I smirked.

"Sure, little Prince."

I ran back into the fight, killing any soldier who dared get near me. Eventually, I neared Susan.

"Where's Ed?" I shouted so she could hear me. I slashed the stomach of a soldier.

"I don't know!" She answered. Before I could reply, I heard the sound of the gate closing.

"Holy shit," I cursed. I launched myself back into the fight. A minotaur dashed under the gate and held it up, but I knew it was only a matter of time before it would close.

"Fall back!"

I turned and saw Peter, looking down at the hopeless battle.

"We need to retreat! NOW!"

I turned to the centaur leader who reminded me painfully of Oreius.

"Go get Susan out of here!" I yelled. He nodded and ran off. I saw him pick up Susan and place her on his back.

"Caspian!" she shouted at me. I sighed.

"I'll find him!"

I killed soldier after soldier, trying to clear a path for our troops to retreat, but it was hopeless. I felt my stomach sink. I was too far from the gate to get there in time.

"Die, Narnian scum!" I looked up, just in time to see a Telmarine stab my leg. I fell back, gasping in pain. The Telmarine held his sword up to make the last move when he was stabbed through the heart.

"Need a lift?"

I looked behind me and saw Caspian. He and Peter on horses, both extending their hands. The professor was right behind them. I sheathed both of my swords and grasped Caspian's hand, too mad at Peter to even touch him. Caspian hoisted me up and I wrapped my arms around his waist to keep myself steady, ignoring the pain in my leg and arm. I rested my head on his back, trying to catch my breath. We zoomed past the minotaur.

"Thanks," I murmured just as the Telmarines shot the minotaur holding up the gate.

"NO!" I screamed. Dozens of our men were still behind the gate. I buried my face against Caspian's back , not caring about how anyone would perceive it. I looked back and saw our men standing against the gate.

"Run for your life!"

"Save yourselves!"

"It's ok! Go my brothers!"

Our men were being shot down and killed all because of a stupid plan. And for the first time in years, I started to cry. Susan stared bewildered at me. She had never seen me cry in all the years she had known me. Caspian grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I tightened my grip around his waist.

"Peter the bridge!" I heard Reepicheep yell. Peter was still on the drawbridge and it started to close. At the last second, Peter and his horse jumped over the drawbridge which masked the view of innocent Narnian lives being taken. The last thing I heard made me cry harder.

"In the name of Aslan!"

After we were a safe distance from the castle, Caspian had helped me down from the horse and let me lean against him while we made our journey back to base. By morning, we had made it back to Aslan's How. I saw a group of Narnians waiting for us. I also saw Lucy run out and I felt my eyes well with tears again. Caspian tightened his grip around my shoulders.

"What happened?" Lucy asked worriedly as we approached the entrance.

"Ask him," Peter spat.

"Peter," I snapped, pulling away from Caspian, choosing to limp.

"Me?" Caspian asked.

"You could have called it off. There was still time!"

"No there wasn't, thanks to you," Peter argued.

"If you kept to the plan, those soldiers might still be alive.

"And if you'd stayed right here like I suggested, they definitely would be!" Caspian exclaimed.

"You called us, remember?"

"My first mistake," Caspian spat.

"No," Peter disagreed.

"Your first mistake was thinking you could lead these people."

"Hey!" Caspian yelled, making me flinch. Susan came up to me and held my hand.

"I am not the one who abandoned Narnia," Caspian growled.

"You invaded Narnia," Peter said, pointing accusingly at Caspian.

"You have no more right to lead it than Miraz does."

Caspian shoved past Peter.

"You, him, your father..."

Caspian froze.

"Narnia's better off without the lot of you!" Peter yelled. Caspian and Peter both drew their swords and pointed it to each other, but I was faster. I unsheathed my swords and hooked their blades. They went clattering to the ground.

"SHUT UP!"

Everyone stared at me stunned.

"You two are fighting like children, fucking children when we just lost so many brave soldiers! How could you dishonor them like this?!" I yelled.

I pointed one of my swords at Caspian.

"First of all, we did not abandon Narnia. That was a freaking mistake. Say it again and I'll personally end your life!"

I pointed my other sword at Peter.

"AND YOU!" I screamed.

"Caspian would be a better leader than you! All you care about is yourself, not me, not Susan, not our family, not Narnia!"

I threw my swords to the floor.

"AND WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO INSULT HIS FAMILY!"

Peter and Caspian both stared at me. I shoved my finger at Peter's chest.

"You already know what happened to my family so why...."

My throat tightened and I lowered my head, weakly punching his chest.

"Why are you being like those bullies you used to beat up who were assholes about my family situation?"

I shoved past both of them, not caring when Lucy rushed forward to heal Trumpkin from his fatal wounds. He was gravely injured.

"Wait, General! Logan!"

I turned around and saw Caspian. I sighed and continued walking.

"Just leave me alone." I said, my voice cracking.
