《Blaze, My Mate》Chapter 8

I followed Blaze to the pack house and all eyes were on me. Like people, I know I have crazy hair and have on a dirty t-shirt but that was not a reason to stare. I decided to keep my head down all the way to the office.
Blaze opened the door for me and I went in. It was his father's office but since he was the Alpha now, I guess it was his. I didn't sit down and Azure was starting to wake up.
"Please have a sit and you can put him on the couch so he can sleep comfortably," Blaze said.
I just stood there. I didn't want to sit. I wanted to know my punishment so I could leave.
"Or how about you rest for the night and we can talk tomorrow. You look pretty tired," Blaze suggested.
That was a great idea, I was tired and hungry maybe he would offer me some food too. I had last eaten about 4 days ago and Azure nursing all the time made me hungry. It was getting late, I couldn't make it safely to my cave with all those rogues around. So I took him on his offer.
He ushered me to a guest room, it was nice. I gently placed my son the bed. His eyes fluttered open and he glanced at me, then his father. I moved my gaze to Blaze to see his reaction and he was looking at Azure with tears in his eyes.
"He is my son," he said to himself and few tears ran down his cheeks. He wiped them off and cleared his throat.
"So I will send someone to bring you food and something to wear."
"Thank you Alpha but sir can you please send for his food now. He hasn't eaten anything since morning," I said with my eyes down. I was scared that he would not care that my son was hungry. But he surprised me.
"Of course, what can I get you both?" he asked with a smile.
"Raw meat and water Alpha," I said and the smile fell of his face instead there was confusion.

"What?"
"He is a wolf and he eats raw meat," I said.
"Yes of course, I'll be right back." He walked out.
My son was looking around amazed, it was the first time he was inside a house. He seemed comfortable but I knew he was hungry. There was a knock on the door, a woman walked in with 2 big pieces of stake on a plate. She handed me the plate with a smile and bowed her head in respect. I thought it was strange but said nothing.
She walked out and Blaze came back in with clothes in his hands, not just any clothes but my clothes. Azure started making noise because he could smell the meat. I was so focused on my clothes that I forgot about feeding him. I put the plate down and told him to eat. He jumped off the bed and took a piece and he wanted to go back on the bed.
"No, you are my big boy aren't you, now eat your food here okay big boy," I said pointing at the plate. He gave up and started eating.
"I'll see you later," Blaze said and walked out.
I locked the door so no one could come in. I decided to take a shower. After bathing in a river for two years, it was a treat stepping under hot water. I took my time washing my hair and my body, I didn't realise how dirty I was until I saw myself after I was done. I felt clean and felt like a human being. There was a robe in the bathroom so I just put it on. My hair was so long, I definitely needed a hair cut.
I was tired and decided to rest so I left the bathroom to take a nap. Azure ate all that meat and he looked sleepy. I put him on the bed and joined him. It felt nice sleeping on a soft bed again. I fell asleep immediately.
I was woken up by Azure licking my face and whimpering. He wanted to relieve himself and nurse. I didn't know if I was allowed to go outside alone. I could tell him to turn human and use a toilet but he wouldn't be comfortable.

Just then there was knocking on the door and I knew it was Blaze by his scent. I put on some clothes, jeans and a t-shirt that smelt like Blaze. I opened the door before he said anything I spoke first.
"Is it okay if I take him out Alpha, he needs to relieve himself."
"Yes it's okay, you don't need to ask for permission Sophia," he said.
I took Azure in my arms and left the room. Blaze followed me quietly. Nothing had changed, I still knew my way around. I hadn't seen the Luna since my arrival, maybe she was busy with important stuff. There were lots of gasps and 'oh Goddess it's her' or 'it's true she is back'. I kept my head down and walked out the back door. We made it to the tree line, I put Azure down and he run off behind a tree to do his business.
It was midmorning, that was a good sleep I had and I felt well rested. I went behind a tree to undress and shift. I laid down just inside the tree line and waited for Azure, he came running and started to nurse. Blaze just stood there watching us sadly with tears in his eyes. He was very emotional, I wondered why.
When Azure was done, he ran around chasing butterflies. He was happy, he loved playing outside. I went behind a tree again, shifted and put on my clothes. I sat down and watched my son run and play. It had been a long time since I felt it was safe for him to be outside. Those darn rogues ruined my peaceful life.
"What's his name?" Blaze asked quietly.
"Who?" I asked even though I knew who he was talking about.
"Our son, Sophia, what's his name?" I stood up and faced him, I didn't care that he was the Alpha, he had no right to call my son his when he rejected him.
"My. son. Alpha Jones, and his name is Azure," I said fuming. How dare he, Blaze had no right to call my son his not when he denied being my mate.
"Azure, how old is our son Sophia?" he asked keeping his eyes on Azure.
"He's 2 years old, Alpha," I said. I needed to leave and as if he read my mind Blaze shocked me with his words.
"I know I wronged you and nothing I say will make up for the pain I put you through but please don't leave. Let me take care of you and our son, I'm begging you Sophia. Let me be a father to Azure please, my mate."
"Your mate is Victoria, Alpha Jones. Did you forget that I had to go on my knees and apologise for calling you my mate? Now I'm your mate!" I shouted the last part.
I was angry, he had no right to call me his mate not after he humiliated me with the one he loved. But I had to think about my son and what was best for him, it wasn't about only me anymore. The fact was that I couldn't protect Azure from those rogues, he was a growing boy and needed a lot of food which I couldn't provide him with. He would have a chance to go to school and lead a normal life. I would also be able to go back to school so I could get a job and take care of myself and provide better for Azure.
"I will stay so my son can have a normal life and for me to be able to go back to school. I'm not staying to be your mate or part of your pack," I said seriously and he smiled a genuine smile. He was happy. I had no idea why. Something came in my mind and I asked him.
"What will your mate think about me and my son living here? "
"My mate is okay with you and our son here," he said, the smile not leaving his face.

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.
