《Mrs. Maximoff》Ten

I kept staring at the blank paper. I looked around searching for a clock completely forgetting that I had my phone with me, I just couldn't think straight.

I found a small clock on the wall and thirty minutes had already passed.

I had to make up my mind and find a solution to this. There wasn't one that could allow me to be on the front page but also not hurt Jules at the same time. I hated this.

Since I made contact with her, it seems like my life is going downhill.

Maybe I should just give up on this, leave and tell her that I don't want this job anymore.

It was my first day and I already had to make a decision between work and my personal life, what could I possibly expect during the next days? I thought I did that interview to get a job where I could do what I love the most, not stare at a piece of paper for over thirty minutes because I was scared to disappoint my friend that I had known for a week or my incredibly gorgeous boss who seems to be haunting me.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening, and no one could ever understand how much I hoped for it to be Wanda ready to tell me to drop everything and just go home.

"Hey, you must be Y/N." I heard a hoarse voice behind me, and when I turned to face whoever just opened the door, I found a blonde-haired woman in front of me.

"I'm Natasha, Wanda's best friend."

Oh, that's why she also looked like she could suck the life out of me.

"Nice to meet you." I held my hand out for her to shake and she did, then sat on Wanda's chair.

"Wanda told me a lot about you."

"Oh, did she?" I was quite surprised, out of all things she could say, I wasn't expecting her to say that.

So not only did she haunt me, but she also talked about her evil plans to ruin my life with her best friend. Awesome.

"You're a good person, Y/N." She started, looking at me in the eyes. "Not many people I know would hesitate to fill that piece of paper. You must really care about your friend."

"I do. She's also a very important person to someone close to me, that makes it even more of a big deal." I explained and saw Natasha softly smile at my words.

Well, she doesn't look so scary now.

"I was like this towards Wanda when we were in college. Because her dad was well known, she often got into situations in which other people would either make fun of her or just insult her. After they did it the first time, I made sure they never did it again. I promised myself I would never let anyone hurt her, even my own self. That's why I'm very careful about what I say when I'm around Wanda, especially when I'm having a bad day because Maria burned the pancakes and I'm on my period. Maria's my girlfriend, by the way."

What was she trying to tell me?

"All I'm saying is...she's been through a lot. When she sounds firm, rough, it's because that's all she's ever known in her life. If she didn't care about what you thought of her she wouldn't have given you this opportunity."

"It will hurt Jules, and I don't want her to feel that way."

"Communicate, tell her what's going on. If you tell her the truth, she will understand." She said and started to get up. "And plus, Wanda doesn't give flowers to everyone."

I was pleased to see that dramatic exits were something that they shared.

An hour had passed now, and even though Natasha's words made me want to fill that piece of paper, I still couldn't do it.

I had to find her, so I did.

I searched through every floor, and I finally saw her when I entered the cafeteria. She was sitting at one of the tables reading a book. No one was there since everyone left, so it must have been relaxing for her, and to be honest, I found it quite amusing too.

"Mrs. Maximoff." I made my presence known and she looked up from her book.

"Wanda." She claimed, closing her book and gesturing for me to take a seat next to her.

I hesitated to speak, knowing what I wanted to say but not knowing how I should have said it.

We sat in silence until she was the first one to break it.

"So, have you thought about it?" She asked me, and by her voice I could tell that she was hoping for a positive response.

"I'm not gonna do it," I admitted, turning my torso so that I could face her. "I'm sorry. I can't do that to Jules. You chose her, it's her moment. I'm sure I'll have mine too when it's the right time."

She sighed and looked down, and those two things were enough to make me panic.

Without me controlling it, my legs started bouncing under the table, which Wanda noticed. She placed her hand on my things and made me stop.

"Don't panic, Y/N. Thank you for telling me. I'll see you tomorrow." Her statement was clear and she was ready to leave before my voice stopped her.

"I'm very sorry, Wanda. I hope tha-"

"Why are you so afraid of me?"

The rough, CEO Wanda completely crumbled before my eyes when she pronounced those words.

"I'm not afraid of you, Wanda. Why would you think that?"

"Every time you're around me you freeze. You barely get words out. Why?" She started, but kept going when I couldn't find an answer. "Like right now. I thought it was just the beginning, but after this morning you're still afraid of me."

"I am not afraid of you, Wanda. I just..."

How was I going to tell her that my breath gets caught in my throat every time I see her?

"You just?"

I couldn't answer. I couldn't get any words out.

"Exactly what I thought. I'll see you tomorrow, Y/N."

Why do I keep messing things up?
