《Mrs. Maximoff》Nine

tw: panic attack

After my encounter with Mrs. Maximoff, I went into the main room, where everyone was already working.

I spotted Jules from across the room, and since I hadn't told her about everything, I really was curious about how she was going to react.

"Hi." I softly said, looking at a very hungover Jules.

"Y/N?! What are you doing here? You got the job?"

"Yeah, I did!" Jules pulled me into a tight hug which lasted probably more than it should have.

"How come you're just starting now?"

Come up with something smart, Y/N, come on!

"Oh well, you know...there were lots of people that tried out for the job, I'm sure Mrs. Maximoff just forgot to call."

Yeah, that's exactly what happened, sexual tension apart.

"Oh, okay then. Let's get to work!"

And that's what we did.

Jules was so excited for her article to come out tomorrow, she was precious.

She explained to me her writing and editing process, and she also told me how Mrs. Maximoff thought how it was the best article she had read in a while.

I felt my chest burn up at the mention of her name and what she said, but I ignored it. I couldn't let whatever this was get the best of me.

Jules and I looked at the journal that was supposed to come out tomorrow, we discussed it and started writing down some ideas for future articles, and before we knew it, lunchtime was here.

Even though we both weren't really hungry because all we wanted to do was work (shockingly), we went down to the cafeteria and got one sandwich each.

I didn't have much to share with Jules, mostly because my life wasn't very exciting, but I didn't mind hearing all about hers, how much she liked Morgan, and all that jazz.

I'm glad I met Jules. Until a couple of days ago I didn't really trust her, but now I can see that I can do it because she's one of the purest souls out there.

We went back to work and kept drafting, discussing and editing until I looked at the clock and it was time for all the others to leave, which meant that I had to go see Mrs. Maximoff soon.

I saw Jules pack her bag, and she looked quite confused when I didn't do the same.

"You're not leaving?"

"I think I'm gonna finish this draft and then leave, I don't really wanna go home yet."

"Oh, okay. Bye Y/N, I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Bye Jules!"

And as soon as everyone left, I got up from my chair and went to face the devil again.

I took the elevator in just a couple of minutes I was in front of her office for the second time that day.

"Mrs. Maximoff? It's Y/N." I said knocking on her door at six o'clock sharp.

"Yes, come in."

I did as she told me and found her sitting at her desk, which was completely empty except for one piece of paper placed in the center.

"Sorry, Mrs. Maximoff, I can't help but notice that your desk has nothing on it. Didn't we have to sort out paperwork?" I asked in the nicest way possible, wouldn't want her to make me wait another week just to talk to her.

"I lied to you, Y/N." She started, playing with one of the rings on her fingers.

"Oh, how nice." I thought.

"You are not helping me with paperwork, I already handled it by myself," she got up and did her thing again. Her hot breath was on my neck and her front was almost pressing onto mine.

"You are writing an article tonight, and if I find it good, you'll be on the front page tomorrow."

Her words left me speechless, I didn't know what to do.

I couldn't turn her down, if she made me wait a whole week to give me this job just because I gave her a little attitude, only she knows what she could do if I rejected her.

But at the same time, I couldn't do that to Jules.

"Y/N, are you okay?" Her voice was hushed, her right hand instantly was on my cheek whilst the other was on my waist.

When I looked at her hands on my body and then right into her eyes, she quickly pulled them back.

"I-I can't..."

Y/N, stop. Don't let her see your vulnerable side. My breathing got faster and my chest was quickly rising up and down.

"Y/N, breathe with me." She commanded me. She started taking deep breaths and I tried to follow her, but I couldn't keep up.

"I can't..."

"Yes you can, I know it's hard, but you can do it." She kept taking deep breaths, and the more she went on the more I started to do that too.

"Good girl, come sit down." She gestured for me to take a seat, but I was frozen, I couldn't move.

"I'm sorry...I don't know what happened..." I tried to apologize, but I couldn't process any other words to make my apology have some sense.

"Don't do any of that. I told you to not apologize once, and I'm gonna do it again. Especially when it comes to these delicate situations, okay?" Her hands were back on my cheeks and waist. She put her index finger on my chin, made me look up and I was met with her eyes.

"I struggled with panic attacks too, I know how it feels. The first thing that allowed me to get better was to understand that sometimes it just happens, even if we have nothing to panic about, and we can't control it, so should you."

Why was she being so nice to me?

"T-thank you, Mrs. Maximoff."

"It's Wanda."

Once I was fully calmed down we both took a seat, and I couldn't help but stare at the piece of paper in front of me.

"Mrs. Maxim-" I started.

"Wanda." She cut me off with a brief smile.

"Wanda, I don't know if I can do this, it wouldn't be fair to Jules. She works hard and-"

"You work hard too, Y/N. You went to Columbia, you know that's a big deal, right?

"Yes, but other people deserve it."

"You deserve it too."

"Jules deserves it, she really does, even more than me. I've known her for a week, but it's like I have known her forever. You can't take that away from her."

"I didn't say I was going to do that. I said that if I find it to be good content, you could go on the front page."

"I don't want to risk it."

"But you want to write it." She said and got up from her chair. "Think about it, Y/N. Don't leave this room until you have made up your mind. If you want to write it, come find me, I'll tell you what your topic is." And she left.

Man, was she good at dramatic exits.

I stared at the paper and at the pen next to it, not knowing what to do. I wanted to text Morgan and search for some advice, but I couldn't rely on someone else, this was my decision. I had to make it.

It was either I wrote this or came up with a very good explanation to Jules.

It couldn't do any harm, could it?
