《The Prince's Stubborn Mate》Chapter 23- Back to school
Advertisement
My alarm clock went off at a quarter to seven, school starts at nine so I have more than an hour to get ready. I trudged tiredly from my bed and made my way into the bathroom, I brushed my teeth, washed my face and took a freezing shower with cold water to wake me up.
When I was decently awake, I began thinking about last night with Demetri crashing my dream only to threaten me. It seems as though that is all he does. Threathen and hurt me, I've never actually given serious thought to committing suicide until I met Demetri.
I turned off the pipe and quickly drive myself with a towel. I walked into my closet and picked up the suit of clothes which I had decided on wearing to school.
Pulling on a pair of black Victoria's secret underwear, I donned my pair of cream pants and orangeish plaid blouse and my cream boots. I did my hair in a little side braid to the left making sure that my hair fell over my shoulder and covered Demetri's mark.
After some contemplation about jewelry, I decided to wear a pair of one direction earrings, a one direction charm necklace and some one direction rubber arm bands. To top it off I sprayed myself with one of my one direction fragrances.
When I was finish getting ready, I grabbed my backpack and my phone then made my way to the kitchen where the Donald, our cook, was making breakfast for everybody. I told him what I wanted for breakfast then walked into the living room to see a few of my siblings and my mother.
"Morning." I acknowledged drily taking a seat in one of the couches in the room as I deposited my backpack on the ground pulling my phone from my pocket in the process.
My three eldest siblings don't live with us anymore. They found their mates and moved away to their own house. David, Elena and Ronald were the only ones who ever remotely remembered or acknowledged my presence in the house but like I said they moved away.
Thomas, the fourth oldest still lives here. Reluctant to renounce his title of playboy he owns an apartment in town where he takes his one night stands or his occasional girlfriends to so he can get laid.
"Is it true that you found your mate?" A voice asked and I looked up to see my older sister, Catherine looking at me questioningly with her dull gray eyes. She's one year older than I am.
"Are you talking to me?" I asked slightly surprised. They don't talk to me and I don't talk to them. Well that's mostly due to the fact that I'm rarely ever around.
The only reason I'm still here is because Demetri said he will pick me up and not to leave or he will hurt me, and it doesn't take a person with two brain cells to figure out that he was a hundred percent serious about beating the shit out of me if I leave before he came to get me.
I reluctantly and sadly admitted to myself that I am in fact scared of Demetri. Regardless of the fact that I refuse to bend to his will and follow his commands blindly, I still feel an overwhelming sense of fear when ever he's near me.
Jut the thought of the arrogant bastard gives me chills.
"Yes I'm talking to you." Catherine said fixing her short plaid skirt. I looked up at her uniformed attire of a plain white shirt, dark blue vest with her school logo, a red and green striped tie and short red and green plaid skirt paired with white socks and black shoes.

I couldn't resist the bitter fleeting thought which popped into my head criticizing her attendance at one of the most prestigious prep schools in the werewolf community.
Catherine, Marsha, Patricia and Cindy all attend a convent school called Sister Alaine's School for girls. As you can imagine, it's an all girls school.
Pity it wasn't a boarding institution, they would be so out of sight, out of mind.
"Why do you want to know?" I asked evasively in an attempt to delay answering her question.
"Because Marsha said your mate is cute and that you don't deserve to have him." She responded and I burst out laughing.
That is so damn true but not in the way Marsha meant.
"Why are you laughing?" Catherine asked as Marsha walked into the room dropping her backpack on the couch beside mom.
"Catherine don't upset her." Mom warned as he rubbed her large belly.
"I didn't say that!" Marsha said "she's lying."
"Yes you did, you said tha-" Catherine began and I rolled my eyes at both of them.
"I don't care what either of you said." I said and they looked at me. "I really don't deserve a mate who is so.........so.........just so..." I trailed off multiple times as I could not find the words to describe Demetri.
"Oh wow," I said aloud, "words fail me." I stood from the couch and made my way to the shelf with the liquor.
"There really are now words to express my true hatred of that thing I call a mate." I spat savegly as I poured a glass of whiskey into a chrystal glass with a single ice cube and lifted it to my lips. Taking a sip of the burning liquid.
"So I'm a thing now?" The voice that I have come to dispise asked from the door way to the living area.
I reluctantly turned to face Demetri. Much to my dismay, he looked gorgeous in his dark Armani suit with his dark hair neatly styled and his pink lips pulled into a mocking smile as he pinned me with his intense gray gaze which set my body alight.
No matter how much I hate him, I have to acknowledge the fact that he is hot ad hell and I am intensely attracted to him only because of the mate bond.
I believe that thing is too good of a reference for you, but I'm at a loss for a proper adjective to describe your paracitic tendencies. You suck the life and happiness out of me just with your presence. I spat at Demetri in my mind but I stopped as I saw the edge of his irises turn purple.
"Jessabell, you shouldn't be drinking at this time of the morning." My mother said pulling her self off the couch so she could go and greet Demetri who placed a light kiss on her cheek as she hugged him.
I rolled my eyes and downed the rest of my drink in one swallow. I replaced the glass then made my way to the door after grabbing my bag.
"I'm ready." I said passing by Demetri, careful enough not to let any part of my body touch him.
I heard him telling my mother and siblings bye as I collected my breakfast from Donald and quickly ate the scrambled eggs and four pieces of bacon. I grabbed another piece of bacon as Demetri made his way to the door the followed behind him.
Opening the car door for me while I stepped by him and into the car. I absolutely hate him.

"Good morning Jessabell." Demetri said in a semi calm voice. I didn't respond but continued to munch on my piece of bacon.
An excruciating pain shot through my left wrist and I squeaked as I grabbed at the bracelet which was comfortably placed on my wrist.
"When I speak to you, you respond." Demetri said grabbing my chin and turning my head to face him. He glared at me with his purple eyes showing that he was really upset.
"Let's try this again," he purred "good morning Jessabell."
"Good morning." I whispered begrudgingly as the pain in my wrist faded. Demetri leaned in and I could see that he was heading fo my lips so I swiftly turned my head causing his lips to make contact with my cheek.
He pulled back and rolled his eyes at me as I cringed against the car door while he started the car and drove me to school.
His attempts at conversation were near failed as I only responded with one and two word answers but only out of fear of what he would do to me if I didn't respond and I ignored him.
Pulling into the parking lot of my school, I saw kids hugging one another in greeting. Some cliques were already settled on the first day and were leaning against cars either smoking or just simply talking.
I sighed and made a move to get out of the car but Demetri grabbed my upper arm and stopped me. Reluctantly, I turned to look at him as he stared at me with his eyes which were back to their normal gray color.
"I'll pick you up after school." Demetri said and I resisted the urge to slap him across his face, "Don't leave." He commanded and I jerked my hand away from him.
Demetri grabbed the back of my head and roughly planted his lips on mine. I didn't kiss him back and I didn't respond or move. He pulled away enough to growl a command telling me to kiss him back.
I didn't want to but he grabbed my hair and wrapped it around his wrist, pulling my head back painfully as he locked his other hand around the base of my throat, I knew I had no choice but to kiss him back. So I parted my lips and let him slip his tongue into my mouth as I reluctantly responded to his kiss. He moved his mouth from mine and placed a kiss on my neck where his mark is causing me to shudder and let out a small moan.
I hate myself for responding to his touch, I hate myself more for moaning at his touch and I hate myself the most for not being strong enough to fight Demetri.
"I have to go." I said breathlessly and he let me go with a last kiss to my forehead.
"I'll see you this evening."
I stepped out of the car without responding to his sentence. As I shut the door behind me I heard my name being called from over by the silver tundra parked under the large apple tree which strangely never bears any fruit. I know the tundra to be Dallas' car which most of the footballers hang out by in the mornings before school starts.
I quickly made my way towards the car and Dallas wrapped his arms around my waist as he picked me up and spun me around making me giggle and wrap my arms around his shoulders.
Almost all the guys on the football team are taller that I am. I'm lighter than them so its easy for them to pick Me up, so sweeping me off my feet and twirling me a few times has become a normal way of greeting for us.
"Hello boys." I said flashing them my thousand megawatt smile as Dallas placed me back on the ground. I just became aware of the fact that the black car that Demetri picked me up in was still where I left it, not to mention the jealousy I could pouring from Demetri and through the mating bond, swallowing me in the toxic green waves.
After a little while, the car drove off and I began talking with the guys.
"Jessabell!" A voice screeched from behind me and I turned to see Freya running towards me. I opened my arms and she jumped into them.
"Hey babe." I said as we pulled away. "Freya, this is the football team of assholes that I call friends." I informed gesturing to the guys seated on the edge of the back of Dallas' car.
"Real mature Jess." Rick said gently nudging me with his foot. I turned and stuck my tongue out at him as he flashed me a smile showing off his dimples. Rick us a large muscular guy with reddish orange hair, brown eyes and a piercing in his nose. He's nice to people he likes but gas a fiery temper to match his hair. He plays a line backer on our team.
"Guys this is Freya, my new friend." I introduced deliberately leaving out the fact that she was my mate's sister. Everyone knows that she's royalty. Werewolf entertainment magazine did an entire article on her and how she is the least refined, most rebellious and least fit to be royalty.
Freya released a video on Weretube telling them to go fuck themselves. I nearly died when I say it. It was too priceless.
"We know who she is." Dallas said, his deep green eyes locked on her now blushing face.
I vaguely recalled Freya telling me she had a crush on Dallas but that didn't explain the look he gave her. Oh well, I'll think about that later.
We talked until the bell rang and everyone made their way to class. As we were walking down the hall, I noticed Dallas' eyes still stuck to Freya's form as she walked away with her friends. Dallas attempted to turn the left corner and follow Freya but I grabbed the back of his shirt and pulled him in the opposite direction.
"Class is this way buddy." I said slapping him on the back as we walked to our first class which was Biology.
Taking our seat at the back of the class, I turned to look at him and he looked at me.
"What?" He asked squinting his eyes in annoyance.
"Is it her?" I asked bluntly flashing him a cheeky smile.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He turned back to face the front of the class.
"Yes, and I'm a mermaid." I said sarcastically "she's your mate."
Dallas whipped around so fast I think i got whip lash. He glared at me, his green eyes glowing with rage.
"You tell anyone and I'll rip your tongue out and feed it to my cat." He hissed venomously
"You don't have a cat." I reminded matter of factly "but I won't tell any body, so chill out."
"Jessabell I'm serious you ca-"
"Dallas, shut the fuck up!" I hissed at him "I've never told anybody's secret so I won't tell yours. "
He let out a sigh and I growled sitting back in my seat and folding my arms across my chest, it hurt that he doubted my ability to keep his secret.
Our teacher came and gave us work then proceeded to walk around the class.
"I'm sorry, I just want to meet her the right way, you know at the ball." Dallas said as we did our work.
"Its OK, I'd never tell that you're her mate." I said "finding out who your mate is is supposed to be special." I told him thinking about my mate and how he revealed that I am his mate.
"Who found their mate?" Mr.Reid questioned coming to stop beside our table startling me silly.
Most of the class turned to see what was happening. In all honesty Mr.Reid had a very big mouth with a very loud voice so everyone more than likely heard his question to Dallas and I.
"So, which one of you met your mate?" Oh man, I thought, this is bad. Its either me or Dallas. Most people have heard that Dallas has found his mate but its just speculation noone is really sure if its true. In my case, nobody knows except Monique, Derek, Todd, Kait, Freya and Collin and I don't want anyone else to know.
"None of us." I said slightly agitated "We were just saying that it should be special when we do find our mates."
"You know everyone thought you two would be mates." Mr.Reid said thoughtfully. Aha, so he has been following up on school gossip, good for you sir.
"Well we're not, so you guys were wrong." Dallas said glancing at me. I wouldn't mind if he was my mate.
"Apparently, Especially since Jessabell already has a mate." Sir said making my heart stop as all eyes stuck solely on me, Dallas no longer important to this conversation, much to his delight.
"No I don't." I lied semi believable. There is no way he could possibly know.
'I'm really hurt that you deny me little mate.' Demetri's voice floated mockingly through my mind. Must I never have peace?! God damn it.
"Then why are you marked?" Mr.Reid asked pushing my hair away from my neck. Exposing Demetri's mark to everyone's eyes. There were soft gasps from various people all over the class. "And you've been marked by a prince."
I batted his hand away and repositioned my hair over the mark. Glaring at Mr.Reid, I said
"That was very unprofessional of you."
"Your mate does not care about professionalism as long as everyone knows you're his." He whispered conspiratorially before walking away with a loud "Back to your work." For everyone.
He insinuated that Demetri set this up and in all honesty I do believe that the dirty, conniving, slimy little snake would have done this.
"So when were you planning to tell me?" Dallas asked casually snapping me from my thoughts.
"When it became necessary to tell you guys." I said dropping my pen on the desk, now unable to do any work.
"And when would that be?"
"I don't know, I doesn't matter anymore." I said sadly folding my arms on the desk and resting my chin on them as warm tears pricked my eyes.
"Are you going to cry?" Dallas asked shocked "I've known you for six years and I've never seen you cry Jessabell." He said and I looked at him and smiled at his concerned face.
"We all have to cry sometime." I said "But don't worry, I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" He asked unsure and I smiled And nodded.
"I'm fine." I lied very convincingly, aware of the fact that my heart was splintering in my chest due to Demetri's control and influence over my life. Hopefully I survive until I graduate and leave this town.
