《My Brother's Best Friend✔️》10-

RECAP:

A series of notifications that flooded through to my phone ended my little trance and redirected my focus to the screen in my hand. I clicked on the text message which read:

I smiled at my phone, anticipating the events that would unravel later.

"Someone seems to want your attention." Ashton murmured, filling his glass with water from the fridge.

I was currently seated in a small cafe with a handful of Josie's friends. Although they seemed super lovely, the language barrier became a visible issue when one of the boys began to speak french to me and then handed me a glass containing an unknown substance.

The whole vibe wasn't really my thing, so I notified Josie that I would see her later. She seemed to disagree and didn't want to leave me walking alone in the old town, but I insisted and insured her that I would call Ethan to pick me up.

Not.

I sent my location to a specific contact in my phone and made my way towards a grand, stone building. I paused to slip on my sunglasses before strolling around the beautiful town.

After Susan's delicious breakfast this morning, I wasn't in need of food, however a small and old-fashioned tuckshop caught my eye with it's adorable postcards. I decided to pick one up for dad and made my way to the checkout.

Behind the small desk was a not-so-small man. With thick black hair and slight stubble, the man could easily pass for 30 but judging by the lack of ageing on his rich black skin, I guessed that he was younger than that.

"Est-ce tout, madame?" (Is that all, madam?)

"Oui merci." (yes, thank you.)

"Parfait ça fera un euro s'il vous plaît." (Perfect, that will be one euro please.)

Before I handed the kind man my money, another hand reached out towards him with a euro placed in it.

I looked up to the occupant to come face-to-face with a familiar smirk.

With the paper bag in hand, we both walked out of the shop but I quickly stopped to face him.

"Sam, you didn't have to pay for that-"

He cut me off by moving a ringlet of hair away from my face and tucked it behind my ear.

"Tout pour la jolie dame." He spoke with his french tongue, although I had no clue what it meant.

"English?" I questioned, looking up at his attractive features. A smile crept onto Sam's lips and he shook his head.

"We'll save it for another time." He said and pressed his hand onto my lower back, guiding me to a nearby taxi.

"Where are we going?" I asked, but Sam waited for us to get into the car before answering...

"Didn't I tell you that I have a surprise for you?" He replied, taking my hand into his as we began to drive away from the thriving streets.

It was around mid-afternoon when I received a text message.

Classic Ethan. I tutted.

Josie and Becca were out for the afternoon with some friends but I presumed that they wouldn't be gone for long as Josie's friends were extremely full on. I can hardly talk to them for more than 5 minutes yet alone a whole afternoon, I almost felt sorry for Becca.

I decided to entertain myself by inviting Maisy over for the evening. She quickly replied saying that she would be over shortly.

Maisy was the first friend that I had made when we moved. She didn't treat me any differently to anyone else, which caught my eye at first. Our friendship quickly became more but we had a strange dynamic. We were comfortable talking about hookups in front of one-another and when people asked us, we never referred to ourselves as anything more than friends. Because, quite frankly, we were only ever going to be friends...

...Who occasionally slept together.

Nonetheless, Maisy respected our situation as much as we respected each other. She was far from a slut and never dared to act like one.

A couple of knocks at the front door brought me up the staircase.

Behind the oak wood stood a tall, brunette girl with the smallest shorts and crop top that I had ever seen.

Maisy's outfit^^^

Before I could even question it, She ran into the house and began to strut down the stairs.

"We're going to a party bitch so go get dressed. Ima raid your fridge real quickk!" She called back to me and I stepped towards my room before turning to her descending figure. Oh yeah... I forgot to mention, Maisy is fluent in french but grew up in Chicago,so we mostly speak english to each other, unless we are around other people.

"Where's the party?" I questioned, genuinely curious.

"On the private beach. Some guy who only lives a few doors down is hosting it, but everyone knows that he's mega minted... rumor has it that he even bought another yacht just for the party."

"Jheez"

"Yeah, that's why we're goin, so hurry up before everyone has already drunk the expensive stuff!" She yelled and I rolled my eyes.

The taxi pulled up to a large gated building. I mean, I wasn't surprised when Sam announced that he lived here. I am never one to judge a book by it's cover, however when someone's cover screams rich and hot french boy, I cannot help but make some vague assumptions.

Of course none of that matters but I was going to make the most of it whilst it lasted...

The driveway itself was at least 400 metres long, with a flowerbed of white roses acting like a large roundabout at the end.

^^^ (I imagine it looking like this but you can obviously think of something different!)

The building's exterior was like an old-fashioned beige castle, however the interior was far from that.

With light grey walls and freshly polished white tiles, the open spaced room felt peaceful and calm to stand in.

Our hands remained interlocked as he guided me towards an arched glass window. As we looked outside, I noticed the house overlooked it's own private beach.

"That's so cool that you have a whole beach to yourself." I mentioned.

"That's not even the best part." He winked at me and guided me to a cozy balcony.

"Look." He stood behind me and directed my gaze to a handsomely elegant yacht, stationed in the sea.

My mouth remained open when he handed me a large black bag with gold writing on it. Tissue paper peered over the top of the bag but I couldn't bring myself to open it.

"For tonight." He said and urged me to look inside.

"Sam I canno-"

"Just open it Rebecca." He spoke calmly and he once again tucked a stray curl behind my ear.

"Wait, what's happening tonight?" I asked, trying to change the subject as I didn't feel comfortable taking another gift from him.

"It's a surprise."
