The entire drive to the office Harlow was in shock. She couldn't believe how fast she fell in love with the car, but she knew that at this point they were never getting it back. She watched as Calypso got out of a red Mercedes and parked next to her. "Well check you out, chica! I didn't see this beauty in the garage yesterday." Harlow stepped out of the vehicle to give her a hug, but Calypso pulled back. "Mamacita, you look good!"

"Oh hush! You look like you step off the runway on a daily." Harlow quipped linking arms as they made their way onto the elevator. Harlow wasn't sure what it was but being around Calypso made her feel sexy and desirable. She loved the boost in confidence it provided. "How was yesterday for you? I didn't get to see you after lunch." Harlow said looking over at her new friend. "It was okay. Lydia is a bitch, but that was to be expected." Harlow cocked her head to the side.

"What do you mean expected?" Calypso widened her eyes, but Harlow was already on her. "You better tell the truth and shame the devil." Calypso couldn't help but laugh. "That's actually a thing believe it or not." Harlow looked at her confusedly until she spoke up.

"Lydia and Val have a thing going on, so she feels because she's sleeping with the boss that she can say and do whatever she wants. It's annoying as hell reporting to her. Anyway, how was your day?" Harlow had stopped listening. She thought to herself.

"Harlow," Calypso called for the third time. "I'm sorry, hon. What did you say?" Calypso looked at her worriedly before smiling. "I said you down for lunch today?" Harlow nodded happily. "I'll tell Declan." Harlow watched Calypso's face drop a bit. "Sure," she finally said. They said their goodbyes as Calypso got off on the tenth floor and Harlow rode her way to the top. The newfound news about Val had put her in a sour mood. All she wanted to do was code while listening to her favorite podcast The Read and tune everything and everyone out.

"Hey bestie," Declan said from his desk. She couldn't help but smile at him. "How are you feeling?" Declan waved her off. "I just had a bad headache, but I'm good as new today." Harlow nodded happy to hear it. She put her purse up before grabbing her notepad and heading into a small conference room with the rest of the team members for the Halo project. James gave them their assignments for the day and Harlow was the first to get up and leave, but was called back by James.

"How you doing, Harlow?" She looked at him with a bored expression. "I'm fine, James. I am excited to get started on this project, so if that's all I'll be going now." He chuckled lightly before stopping her. "I've never met any woman like you before, Harlow." He moved into her personal space before wrapping an arm around her waist and placing his hand on her shoulder. "You are going to fall for me and do whatever I say from this point onward." Harlow looked at him as if he'd lost his mind before shoving him back.

"Don't you ever fucking touch me! Do I make myself clear?" Harlow said angrily. Her voice was almost unrecognizable and she knew he had noticed it too. "I said, do I make myself clear?" James simply nodded staring at her like she was the freak in the situation. Harlow left the conference room in a huff before going to her desk to grab her phone and leave. "Where are you going, Lo?" Declan asked as she was about to leave. "I just need air." She responded before walking out.

Val, Wes and Damien were all in a mood. Harlow's words weren't meant to hurt, but they did. Damien tried to offer words of patience and encouragement to the men he deemed his brothers, but even he was having a hard time believing them. "Mr. Watkins is here to speak with you," Mrs. Clara announced through the phone. Val groaned loudly thankful that their room was not only soundproof, but spelled by the witches in Marketing. "What the fuck does he want?" Wes growled not a fan of the pompous vampire either.

"Send him in," Damien spoke through the intercom before sitting back. James walked into their office, but instead of his usual cocky demeanor he looked frazzled. "How can we help you, James?" Damien asked already annoyed. "Do you three know the new girl?" Val cocked an eyebrow. "Calypso?" He just assumed since he was supernatural that he'd obviously be talking about the supernatural woman that started yesterday and not his mate.

"No, the mortal," James stated. They each grew rigid in their seat. "I think she's a demon." He continued before looking at all of them. "Why do you think that?" Damien asked diplomatically. "Her voice. It changed. It didn't sound human whatsoever." They were confused. They couldn't understand why Harlow's demonic side would show up randomly. 'He did something. Kali only shows when she's upset or angry!' Wes informed angrily. "What happened prior to this voice change." Val asked trying to keep his emotions in check.

James began to stammer and mumble. "Speak up, James, we don't have all day." Damien barked. The vampire wanted so badly to glare at him, but he wasn't stupid. Everyone in the supernatural world knew who Damien Deville was and they knew that if they valued their life, they would never dare cross him. "I tried compelling her and it didn't work...another reason I think she's a demon. They're the only ones immune to a vampire's compulsion."

Damien watched as Val's nails elongated and his eyes flashed red. 'Control yourself!' Damien barked over their mind link. 'We don't need James to be the person that finds out about our mate or that she may be supernatural.' Val visibly cooled and Damien was thankful James was too involved in himself to notice. "We have known that some mortals are immune to vampire compulsion, so that doesn't make her a demon. As for her voice change, it sounds like she must have been upset or angered by something. What exactly did you say to her?"

James chuckled lightly and it further irritated them, because nothing about this was funny. "I just told her I wanted her to be mine and to do whatever I said. It didn't work obviously. I think you should look into her though. I'm not entirely positive she's mortal." The muscle in Damien's jaw worked double time. "I think you need to focus on your job more than compelling the women that work here. Leave them alone, especially the mortals." Damien was gone. There sitting in front of him was Bael and it scared him something fierce. "Do you understand me?"

James nodded before saying yes sir as he tried not to piss himself. Very few people on Earth had ever seen the heir to the Underworld and for good reason. "Get the fuck out," Bael barked and almost chuckled as James sprinted out of their office. "What happened to controlling ourselves?" Wes snickered. "Trust me I am the one in control. Damien was ready to hurl James' ass to the fifth level of hell." They chuckled at that and watched as Damien took back control. "The gull of that man," he huffed making his way to the bar cart. "It's 10 am, Dame." Val chuckled as Damien shrugged.

"Do you think she's okay? Should one of us go check on her?" Wes asked worriedly. Damien seemed to think on it. He waved his hand and they immediately saw Harlow sitting outside in the courtyard on the second floor. They could tell she was still a little angry, but it seemed she was mostly frustrated. They watched her pick petals off a flower angrily and sighed.

She then looked around as if to find someone before looking directly at them. It shocked them until her eyes turned complete black and she smiled. Damien couldn't help the smile that graced his lips before watching her eyes turn back to their deep brown which he loved so much. He waved his hand and the image faded. "Her powers are peaking through. We need to tell her," Wes said adamantly. "She almost exposed herself to James of all people. We don't want the supernatural world learning about our mate's abilities especially before she can control them or use them to defend herself."

Damien knew Wes was right. He just didn't know if telling her before she made a decision about them was the right thing to do. "She hates liars according to Alistair and I don't want to lie to her anymore." Val stated as he too went to the bar cart. "We'll tell her tonight," Damien finally agreed. "We'll take her on a date and then tell her when we get home." They nodded in agreement before focusing back on work.

Harlow worked steadily on her task, but was beyond thankful when Calypso came by to grab them for lunch. "I was thinking that French spot down the street." Calypso stated to which Harlow and Declan agreed. They found a small booth and ordered their food quickly. Calypso filled them in on the training and development project she was put on and thoroughly excited about. They told her about the Halo project and what it could mean for the organizations they helped, as well as, their skillset and resume.

"So, Harlow, do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend?" Calypso asked as they began talking about more personal things. "I don't, but I am talking to these guys I guess." Calypso wiggled her eyebrows. "Plural...I love it! What about you Declan? Boyfriend? Girlfriend?" Declan shook his head. "No girlfriend." Calypso smiled sweetly at him. "A good-looking guy like yourself I'm sure is going to find a girl in no time." Harlow wanted to laugh at Declan and this blush of his. She felt he was a shade away from it being a medical condition.

"So, these guys, what's stopping you from bagging them up?" Harlow chuckled at her friend. She made it sound so simple. "I don't know if what they feel for me and what I'm starting to feel for them is real. I don't want to get into something that's just going to end in heartbreak, you know." She seemed to think on it for a bit. "How do you feel when you kiss them?" Harlow shook her head. "I've never kissed them. I want to, but it hasn't happened." Calypso nodded her head.

"Are you going to see them tonight?" Harlow nodded. "Kiss them. Do it and then take an inventory on how you feel. If you feel the proverbial butterflies, but also a feeling of peace and safety then they are the real deal. If you don't cut them loose." Harlow actually liked and appreciated the advice. "Thanks, Cal. I appreciate that." She bumped shoulders with the beautiful Latina before dropping a $20 on the table. "Come on guys, work awaits."

Harlow made a point to have Calypso in the middle on their walk back. She loved playing match maker from time to time and she felt Declan and Calypso would make the cutest couple. She saw that Calypso kept trying to distance herself from Declan and Harlow was not having that. She moved her over subtly to where they weren't touching, but there wasn't this huge gap of distance. "We should do something together this weekend." Harlow offered giddily. "Let's go to a club," Calypso suggested with a smile.

It had been a while since Harlow visited the club, but she was down. "I'm down. Dec?" He nodded still in a Calypso centered daze. They said their goodbyes and went to their respective desks and focused back on work. The day seemed to fly by once more, but Harlow had finished her portion of the project and sent it to James. She was packing up her things and noticed that Killian and Liam were still there. "Hey guys, you almost done?" Liam nodded with a smile while Killian looked her up and down before biting his lip.

"How is a sexy woman like yourself a developer?" Killian finally asked causing her to roll her eyes. "I'm just gifted like that, I guess." Harlow couldn't help but laugh at the obvious way Killian checked her out. Harlow thought with a soft chuckle. "See you guys tomorrow." Harlow called out before walking out.
