《Freaks & Geek》Chapter 11: All We Do

Harlow wanted to head to the elevators, but something told her to walk towards the guys' office. She saw an older Black woman sitting in the front closing up. "Boys it's time to go. Mama's getting tired." She spoke into her phone causing Harlow to chuckle. "Well, hello there sweetness. How are you?" Harlow greeted her back and soon the two struck up a banter as if they were old friends.
"Who are you talking to Mrs. Clara?" Wes asked before seeing Harlow and smiling widely. "Hey," he said breathily. "Hey." She responded with a matching smile. Mrs. Clara looked between the two and gave her own smile. "Harlow," Val said surprised. "What are you doing here?" She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, honestly. I just felt like I needed to see you guys before heading home." Val smiled at that causing Mrs. Clara to look between him and Harlow.
"We get to walk two gorgeous women to their cars tonight. Fellas, I think we've hit the jackpot." Damien said with a smile on his face as he looked at Harlow and Mrs. Clara thought she might fall out. This was Damien. Her Damien who never smiled with teeth, but gave her small subtle smirks at most. There was something about this Harlow woman and it was obvious. She could sense much light from her, but there was a subtle darkness that wasn't overwhelming yet powerful. Mrs. Clara was grateful that as a fairy she was able to see the auras of people and judge them accordingly.
Harlow was the type of woman she wanted for her boys, especially Val. She was so sick and tired of that whore Lydia and hoped this meant that Val would drop her like a sack of potatoes. They made their way into the elevator and Harlow and Mrs. Clara talked like new best friends. Mrs. Clara had promised to bring Harlow some of her award-winning muffins later that week, while Harlow stated they'd go to lunch just them two Friday afternoon. Val, Damien and Wes couldn't help but light up as they listened and watched their two favorite women get along so naturally.
They dropped Mrs. Clara off at her car before walking Harlow to hers. "We want to take you out on a date tonight, dove." Harlow looked at Damien with a wide smile. "Really?" They all nodded. "Follow us, okay?" She nodded as she got into her car and followed the Black Range Rover. Her mind was all a buzz. "A date. I'm going on a date with three stupidly handsome men. What is life?" Harlow asked herself giddily. Harlow groaned as she turned onto the highway.
She knew people had conversations with their inner voice and self, but this wasn't it. Ever since she could remember it was like there were two people living in her head and they only grew louder and more opinionated with time. They often fought one another and it sometimes drained her. The voice that often told her to do bad, hoodrat things she dubbed her devil. Then there was the sweet voice that wanted all things to be copasetic. That was who she dubbed her angel. Harlow knew it was all her speaking, but it oftentimes didn't feel like it.
Harlow thought back to what Calypso said at lunch and planned on doing it. She was going to kiss the guys as soon as they got home and hoped her nerves would not get the best of her. She just couldn't see herself kissing all three of them. "Do I do it back-to-back? Do I wait until their in their rooms and sneak in that way for some privacy? Ugh!" She exclaimed as they exited the highway. Harlow smiled as she listened to her angel.

They pulled up to a restaurant called Papa Mama's. It wasn't fancy looking, which Harlow appreciated. She parked next to them and watched as Val walked over to her to open her door. "Thank you." She smiled at him as she got out. "You three are not doing anything to help in my weight loss endeavors." Harlow said as they sat inside the family-owned pizza parlor. "You don't need to lose a single pound," Wes said sternly and Harlow couldn't help but chuckle.
They ordered their food and drinks, but Harlow could tell they wanted to say something. "What is it? You three obviously want to say something." They shared a look before looking at her. "We just want to apologize if yesterday was too much. We know it's a lot being mortal to grasp all that and we don't want to scare you off, but we do want you to know that we'll wait however long you need." Harlow looked at Val with a small smile. "Thank you. That means a lot to me."
They talked about lighter things as they were in the back of the restaurant with no patrons anywhere near them. "So, you're the son of the very first werewolf," Harlow said to Wes as she took a bite of pizza. Wes nodded before taking a sip of his beer. "That's cool. What about you two. What's your background?" Val saw the worried expression on Damien's face and decided to go next. "Well, you know a lot about me. Well, at least when I was a mortal." Harlow quirked an eyebrow. "You said you were from like 200 AD. How would I know you as a mortal?"
"My full name is Valentine of Terni. When I was a mortal, I was a priest that helped save many Christians from being persecuted, but I was known for marrying many Christians since it was illegal for them at the time." Harlow's eyes widened at the realization. "You're St. Valentine?!" He chuckled with a nod. "Holy shit! I could literally be dating the man who is synonymous with love." Val smiled at her wanting so desperately to touch her. "Wait how did you become a vampire?" His face fell a bit.
"I was very ill and my older brother was desperate. He had heard of a man, Ambrogio, who's blood was saving lives throughout Terni or so we thought. My brother forced me to drink the blood and almost immediately I got better. That same day, however, I was captured by Emperor Claudius II's men and executed. I had the blood in my system and came back hours later. I fed on every soldier in the area and the rest is history." Harlow looked at him with a small smile. "I'm sure you didn't ask for this life, but I never would've met you if you weren't what you are so I'm thankful."
The words warmed Val's cold body as they washed over him. She was too pure and precious for words. "Alright, Bubba that just leaves you." Harlow smiled taking a sip of her Sprite. "Bubba?" Damien asked as if it were the most uncouth thing to say. "It's a term of endearment in the South. Go with it. Now dish!" Damien looked at Wes and Val who gave him a sympathetic nod. "Harlow, I know that what I'm about to tell you is going to change the way you view me and that's understandable. I just want you to know that I'm not what my proposed destiny is or who my father wants me to be."

Harlow thought of who Damien's father could be. He was a demon, which she didn't know they could conceive but the more you know she guessed. "Who is your father?" Harlow asked curiously. He looked at his brothers once more for courage before answering. "Lucifer. Satan. The Devil...he's my Dad." Harlow's eyes were as wide as saucers. "I'm sorry, come again." Damien rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "My father is..." Harlow interrupted him. "Holy shit! Damien...duh...I've seen the Omen like ten times you'd think I would have picked up on that by now."
"That movie is ridiculously inaccurate." Damien huffed causing Harlow to shock herself and laugh. He took her laughter as a positive sign until her face fell. "Wait...you're the Anti-Christ." Damien looked into her eyes before looking down. It was silent for a minute before Damien felt her soft fingers under his chin lifting his head up. "You're not what other people tell you that you are. I'd like to think that now knowing your mate is a mortal you won't be the cause to end all humanity."
Harlow was shocked to see the tears welling his green eyes. She went to wipe the tear that fell, but Damien had pulled her close and crashed his lips on hers. Harlow was shocked for a millisecond before she found herself getting lost in it. Damien bit her bottom lip before he begged for entrance with his tongue, which she happily gave. There was no fight for dominance, because Damien was all dominance.
Harlow felt the butterflies Calypso talked about and the safety blanket that his kiss provided could weather any storm. She was pretty certain she was good and then she heard both her angel and devil whisper 'perfect' and felt a reinforced sense of acceptance. She pulled back with a chuckle causing Damien to look at her curiously. "What's so funny," he asked. "You'd think I'm crazy if I told you."
That had them all interested. "Tell us, cara mia." Val stated with a smile. "Okay, but don't commit me." She chuckled. "SometimesI hear these voices in my head." The three looked at her before sharing a glance. "What do they say?" Wes asked cautiously. "Well one of them I've deemed my devil. She's loud and rash and ready to fuck shit up in all honesty. Then there's my angel who is kind and sweet and usually directs me to the path best travelled." They just smiled at her. "You're not crazy, dove." She smiled back at him before pulling him close and pecking his lips.
"Alright, time for dessert," Val said getting up and dropping $300 on the table. "You guys are big tippers. Where were you when I was waitressing in Georgia?" They laughed at her as they led her back to her car. "Follow us." Wes instructed before kissing her hand. They ended up at an ice cream parlor called Any Given Sundae and it made Harlow instantly happy. She adored ice cream and this parlor seemed to have everything you could dream of. "Four scoops, dove? You're going to make yourself sick." Harlow shook her head. "You and Val didn't get anything, so you can help me."
They talked and ate and Harlow found herself wanting more of them. Wes was sly with his soft caresses and subtle touches. Val would say things in her ear that made her want to pounce, while Damien was a greedy man with his kisses now that the seal had been broken. Val had a bit of sweet cream at the corner of his mouth and Harlow knew she should wipe it off, but her devil had other ideas. '
Before Harlow could give her angel a time to speak, she was leaning forward and licking the ice cream off of Val. She didn't get a moment to pull back as he held the back of her neck as his eyes glowed red and captured her lips with his. This kiss was quite different from her kiss with Damien.
Damien's was passionate and fiery, while Val was loving and gentle. It didn't seem to fit the man in front of her, but it did at the same time. She was so lost in the kiss, but was aware of the butterflies and feeling of pure bliss. Harlow pulled back with a smile and looked into red eyes. "I love you," Val whispered. "You don't have to say it, but please know that I love you."
She nodded her head before pecking his lips. Harlow patted her full belly with a satiated smile. "Home." She nodded at Wes who chuckled at her. "You want me to carry you?" He asked as she smiled and seemed to think on it. "Piggy back!" Wes laughed as he leaned down low enough for her to jump on. Damien grabbed her purse as the made their way outside. Wes acted like a horse causing her to laugh uncontrollably. "Be careful with her," Bael's voice poked out causing Harlow to look at him.
Gone were green eyes and in their place pitch black ones. "Bael!" Harlow squealed sliding down from Wes and into his arms. "Hello, little thing." She hated how much of a sucker she was for pet names. "Let's get you home. I'll talk to you then." Harlow nodded before standing up on her tip toes and pulling him down for a kiss.
It was Bael's turn to be shocked before he gave into the kiss. Harlow found it insane that Bael and Damien kissed differently. Bael was tortuous and intentional with his kiss. "See you at home," Harlow said breathlessly against Damien's lips as she looked into pitch black eyes.
She made her way into the G-wagon and programmed the mansions address into the GPS. She drove in comfortable silence as she listened to her angel and devil tell her how proud they were of her. She knew they liked all the men equally, but there was something about Damien that got them both giddy.
