《The Red Sun》Jonathan

"So which weapon do you normally use?" Alec asked Jon when they became alone in the Sterling house. Adam left to go on a meeting with his father to discuss war matters while Rylee went to search for Hayley, who was supposed to be sick at home.
"I have my fangs, I don't need a weapon," Jon replied with pride.
"Yeah, I know; but, everyone needs a weapon. What if you can't turn into a wolf?"
"I don't know." He didn't. He sucked at archery: one time while he was practicing, he shot his master in the leg instead of firing towards the target that was 10 meters away from him. He hated holding daggers as he thought they were too small for the hands. Swords were not his favorite either because Forest People don't usually use swords; however, he used to train using a whip before discovering that he was a werewolf. He was great at using it, "I can use a whip, but that's a girl's weapon." He told Alec after some hesitation.
"A whip is not a girl's weapon." Master Lucas joined the talk. Jon did not see him enter the living room. A whip appeared in his right hand. "A whip is a warrior's weapon, child. There is no difference between a boy and a girl in battle, show me." He hurled the weapon to Jon. It was black and a bit heavy. He examined every part of it, realizing that it was flexible and balanced. Alec was holding a dagger as Jon tried using the whip, he swung it, and it was no longer in Alec's hand, it was with Jon now. "Splendid." Said Master Lucas, "what will you name it then?"
"I don't know," he scratched the back of his head "maybe I can name it Eclipse, the same name as my griffin."
"YOU HAVE A GRIFFIN?!!!" Alec jumped.
"Every leader does." Jon shrugged. Jon got that griffin on the day he became the leader of the People of The Forest when Alec was still in a coma. He memorized the day as he wanted Alec to be there with him, his first friend in Fritzlanda, so Jon decided that when Alec wakes up, he will tell him everything.

It was dawn, and as the first line of sunlight was glimpsed, the trees started watching. Jon was in the center of the forest with his mother and the whole People of The Forest, including their dead ones, 'father is watching me. I will make him proud.' Jon thought. He saw friendly faces: Charles Montgomery, Sabrina Stanley, his mother, and some kids from school named Matthew who was the same age and same height as Jon but skinnier, Ryan whose head was barely coming up to Matthew's shoulder, he was two years younger than them, Laurel and Sara who were sisters, Laurel was in Jon's class, he thought that she was pretty as she was blond with a blushing face, Sara was in the same classroom as Ryan, she looked nothing like her sister, her sister was much prettier and Oliver who was still a 5th primary student.
The boys wore the traditional green doublet of the People of the Forest while all of the girls wore green dresses. It didn't matter which shade of green. The three elders of the People of the Forest were there: Charles' father, Mister Henry Montgomery, who had the same facial features as Charles but with grey hair, some wrinkles, and much more fat. Ronald Jefferson, who wore a frown over his face for the whole day, and Sabrina, leader of the forests' guards. They all went to the cemetery in the woods first, which was the only place in the jungle with no trees but only grass. His father was buried beside his grandfather. Jon knelt in front of his father's grave and promised him to be a good leader. He didn't cry, 'a leader never cries.'
After that, they got started with the tests, at first he had to move all of the surrounding trees to face the other way instead of him, he went to the biggest tree of them which was about 300 years old, and touched it. He felt a bond with the tree, its roots spreading underneath them and the whole forest, then his eyes glowed green causing the tree to move, the rest followed. They then got him a black wild griffin, a griffin is a creature with the head and feet of an eagle and the body of a lion with wings coming out from both sides. The People of the Forest made them their pets and so they protected their forest. That wild griffin's mother was shot by hunters so whenever he sees anything that looks like humans, he would panic but as Jon went over to him and put his hand on its eagle head, the griffin didn't move. It then kneeled its head to Jon and lowered its body allowing him to ride. "I will call him Eclipse," Jon said. The last test was the most obstinate, he had to make a judgement to a certain traitor, who was a spy for the People of the River. He had nothing to do with his father's death yet he was still a spy. Jon cut his tongue off, which was the right call. They all cheered him as the trees started dancing, which meant that the old spirits of the jungle also agreed.

After he told Alec the story, Alec's eyes glowed but not from anger, from joy. "Congrats bro!" He said as he put his hands on Jon's shoulders, "or should I say chief?" They laughed. It was ten, which meant that Alberto left the clan. Alec couldn't open portals, so they took his father's old black BMW. Alec parked the car far away so it could not be spotted. While Jon was waiting for him he thought he smelled something weird (as wolves have a better sense of smell than the rest of the supernaturals), but he ignored it. The building was white on the outside as it was on the inside. Jon didn't notice that last time. They both leapt towards the window of the second floor. It was open, so they entered and started walking stealthily inside.
They kept ascending, using the stairs instead of the elevator as it would draw much noise. They were both panting as they reached the 10th floor where Alberto's office was waiting for them. The large hallway, which was once guarded by 100 men was only guarded by two so they knocked them down without interrupting the silence of the building and entered the office. They looked behind the desk, inside the drawers, under the chairs, everywhere, but it seemed hopeless to find the diaries. Alec then suggested that there might be a secret wall that holds a safe just like his father's office, and he was right. Jon started wondering how will they open the safe, and then Alec did it without showing the tiniest bit of effort. "I do it all the time." He whispered. "Remind me to take you to my next robbery." They found nothing in the safe except for a rolled piece of paper, which they didn't care to open at that moment as they had to leave.
As they exited the office, the lights suddenly switched on, and the 100 guardsmen were back minus 2. Alec could not open a portal inside the building as the same warlock who protected his father's building, was guarding this building. Alec snapped his neck as his daggers appeared in both of his hands while Jon's Eclipse appeared in his hand as well. As they were going to start the fight, the sound of guns filled the place. Jon saw a group of hunters wearing black masks on their faces.
The 98 men were reduced to the half as the hunters knocked them down, they were not dead though as Jon could still hear their hearts' pumping. They then all started fighting as Jon's handle coiled around a hunter's gun, taking it away, he orbited the gun, knocking down the men in black and the men in white, he didn't care which. Alec threw his daggers here and there while punching other men, he looked like a warrior but he was missing something. 'His portals.' Jon thought. While Alec was stabbing a man in his neck, another was coming from behind him so Jon kicked the man, smashing the window and the man fell to his death. They were greatly outnumbered so Alec suddenly smiled, pulled Jon and they bounced behind the falling man. As Jon was pulled he whistled for Eclipse the moment they were about to hit the ground, Eclipse caught them and they flew.

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. The gamelit and xianxia elements are uncovered at a slow pace. ******************************** Notes: If you are looking for lots of fast moving action right away, this story may not be for you. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice. The Girl Named Rino
Oh. Hello. I didn't see you come in. No, don't worry. I don't need to hear your name. I already know what it is. I also knew that you'd come up at around this time. But, at the same time, I also didn't know. It's very hard to put into words - but that's what happens when you become the Chaos God. Your psyche gets messed up, big time. That's even more so for me, who was already warped enough to confuse reality with imagination - and, even make the rest of the universe believe that it was so. But, enough about me. Let's talk about you. You seem to come from a very far away land. It's faint, but your presence is there - in a relatively primitive planet. No wonder, no one wanted to stay in, or conquer your region of the universe - there's nothing worth controlling there. Your existence, much like your entire solar system, also seems to be pretty insignificant. Tell me, is your race capable of destroying your own world? Oh, you're already well along the way? Global Warming? Pollution? Overpopulation? Nuclear weapons? Wow... it's been many millenia since I'd last heard of such ancient concepts from someone who is actually living through it. Still, good job getting that far. That means that your world is now, at least, worth considering as a possible place to install a World System. If I find the time, I'll try surveying it. You can just thank me, later. Oh wait! What kind of person am I, not even offering my guest any hospitality. I'm ashamed. Please, take a seat. What would you like? I have everything the multiverse has to offer, whatever it is you want - I can get. Ah! After we talk, would you mind, if I asked you to do me a tiny favor? There's this girl, I want to keep tabs on. She's in one of the Worlds that I preside over, it's called Aiarthe. But, for some reason, I can't see her - not directly, at least. All I need you to do, is check up on her from time to time. Whether you do it as a pure spectator or through someone else's eyes, is entirely up to you. Really!? You would!? Wow! Thanks! You really did me, a huge solid there! For agreeing so quickly, how about I get started on surveying that planet of yours, right now!? You can help yourself, to anything in the fridge! Well, see ya!
