《The Red Sun》Rylee

Rylee's portal opened right outside the building as no one has the power to create a portal into the establishment itself. This is because a protection spell has been cast by the strongest warlock in order to protect the building. It was a 30-story-rectangular building, all made of glass except for the wooden entrance decorated by black wood all around. As Rylee walked inside, she could see that they have planted a few trees and that it was no longer just grass. She wondered why until she remembered that she had told Alec how she would appreciate having trees in the garden, and, of course, Alec cannot refuse a request from his dear sister, she shrugged.

Alec and Rylee have always been close, they share all their secrets and they protect each other. Although, he is the 'ideal son', sometimes he, too, messes up and when he does, he goes straight to Rylee. Rylee is not fond of sharing secrets as she is not a very talkative person, but every now and then she would go ask Alec for advice, like the day she and Adam got engaged. She was so angry, then, that she was planning to kill her father. She didn't understand, why the hell, would they force her to marry a complete stranger. "Strategies" her father would say. Their father was always a workaholic, working day and night to ensure everything goes smoothly, giving them a very limited time to spend with him, but they loved him anyhow; however, she didn't exactly appreciate the arranged marriage. She went to Alec that day and just threw a tantrum; screaming, yelling, and cursing, and after she stopped, she stood there in utter shock at the sight of him smiling. His smile was so provoking that she was going to slap the life out of him until he teleported behind her. "Relax girl! As father tells you, this is a strategy. Besides, I'm the one who chose him, he initially wanted you to marry his older brother, Fat Albert." He chuckled and then she laughed. "Don't worry sis, I wouldn't have chosen him if I didn't know you would like him, mark my words you two are gonna fall in love." That's all he said before he left the room.

The building was a mess, the receptionists at the counters were not there, Josh, the security guard, was not there either. Even the janitor was missing. 'Where is everyone?' She wondered as her axe appeared in her hand, proceeding cautiously. She ascended to the 30th floor and finally saw her father with his assistant. Her axe disappeared into thin air as she opened the door, "where is everyone?" She questioned her father.

"He sent them on a mission," replied Jackson. Her father didn't look at her, he was so focused on the paper he had in his hand. Jackson was tall and muscular, with bright grey eyes meaning he was from the People of the Mountain, yet he didn't seem to be as shy as them, he had black hair which was always messy. Rylee didn't like it or him.

"Why?"

"Haven't you heard the news?" He was interrupted by her father.

"Hello Rylee, sorry didn't see you coming in." He left the paper on his gigantic brown desk and went to hug her.

"So you know what happened?" Rylee raised an eyebrow, "why didn't you send your men to extract the goblin?"

"Of course we did, where do you think everyone is?"

"And what will you do to him?"

"Bury him, of course." Jackson grinned.

"Isn't that a bit extreme, father?" She looked at her dad ignoring Jackson.

"He is dead, I don't think burying the dead is an extremity?" Jackson blurted out. This was getting annoying.

"Jackson, can you leave us alone now? I want to talk to my father about something." She said wearing a fake bitchy smile.

"As you wish." He said as he went to the door and left the room. Rylee sighed.

"You killed the goblin?!" Rylee started shouting, "Lock him up, torture him but don't kill him"

"Hold up, hold up, I didn't kill anyone, he was found dead this morning. Are we on the same page here?" Her father put his hands on both her shoulders, "what are you talking about?"

"A goblin went on TV and exposed us all."

"No, that's impossible," her father started laughing in disbelief and suddenly stopped as he realized how grave the matter was, "no, that stupid son of a ...." and then he went on cursing goblins for 10 minutes straight.

"What were you talking about?" She wondered out loud.

"Blykt Fierx, leader of the goblins for more than 100 years, was found dead this morning," he picked up the paper again, "these are photos from the crime scene and, trust me, child, I have no idea what the hell happened. Take your brother and go investigate the crime scene tonight so no one would be able to see you. For the time being, go to your fiancé and tell him to go talk to Antonio on behalf of all of us." Her father's green eyes glowed now.

Antonio was the leader of the Clan of Control.

"That's risky." She whispered.

"And since when do you care?" Her father raised his thick eyebrows and smirked showing a dimple on his chubby cheek.

"Since... since I fell in love with him," she said in a low voice, "if he goes, I will go too." She looked at her father with her two non-identical grey and green eyes, they were glowing too.

"If you go, then your brother goes with you and that's not a request."

"Fine, I want to go to school." She announced.

"Jackson!" He shouted. "Take my daughter outside and make her a portal back to school if you please." Jackson obliged.

While exiting the building, Rylee was thinking of her brother, she knows he will protect her but she couldn't help but think about how she can protect herself as well. She is not entirely powerless after all. She is still a hybrid with lots of abilities, besides she has mastered wielding the axe better than anyone. As she looked around in the building, she knew she will never be able to work there or lead them, it was Alec's birth right despite being 5 minutes younger than her, "nature's choice" her father would always say, and "you have to be able to teleport to work inside." She remembered her father as he told them the story when they were little. 'All hybrids have talents, what about mine?' That's all she wondered as they left.

'Did father predict that this day will come? Is that why he forced me to marry Adam? Is that the strategy he was talking about?' Questions started flooding her head as Jackson opened a portal for her and then she left.
