《The Red Sun》Hayley

As Adam and Rylee entered their portals, Hayley looked up to Alec and switched to Jonathan, studying the newcomer. She was much shorter than both of them. Jonathan's brown eyes caught Hayley's as she stared at him, she was trying to figure out whether to trust him or not. "What?" Jonathan thought.

"I don't care if you don't talk much, I can still hear your thoughts." She moved closer to him, widening her eyes, "I trust you for the time being, but beware, for I am keeping a very close eye on you." She said as she pointed her middle and index finger to his face back and forth. "Enough! You're scaring him," Alec smirked.

"And what will you do if I don't?" She kept pointing her fingers to Jon's face, they both laughed.

"So are you two are, like, to-"

"Oh hell no!" They both echoed as their eyes glowed, "we get that a lot but never ever will it happen, we are just friends."

"He's like a sister to me." She looked at him as they both broke into fits of laughter.

"Has Samantha always been this mean or is she just provoked because I'm the new kid?" Jon thought and Hayley heard.

Samantha's story is quite bizarre. Three years ago, during middle school, she was actually one of them. They used to visit each other's houses and she was closest to Hayley. That was until the day she turned 16. Two weeks after their first year of high school started, things went downhill. She suddenly turned into a bitch, she cut them all off, and she didn't even look at them. When Hayley went to confront her, they had a massive quarrel. It was in the National Forest of Fritszlanda, Hayley would kill to forget that day. She and Samantha were both swords masters so on that day, they were both holding identical swords, with the same blade, forged by the same blacksmith and they were both trained by the same trainer, Master Lucas. They both held their Rapiers (the type of sword) and fought, they were pretty much tied, a swing to the right then a swing to the left and both of their swords were on the ground. Samantha decided to use her talent to force Hayley to stab herself in her femoral artery. Hayley would never forget the look on Samantha's face, she was roaring with laughter as Hayley begged her to stop but she never did. If it wasn't for Alec and Rylee's interference, Hayley would have been dead. Alec sneaked up on Samantha from behind, having the blade of his dagger touching her neck, while Rylee grabbed the sword from Hayley. Furious, Rylee was on her way to stab Samantha but Hayley told her that it was not worth the trouble, she was not worth it, and Rylee obliged. Alec let go of Samantha and threw his dagger right beside her left foot and then they left.

Until today, Hayley cannot remember what the reason for this fight was, she just knew that it wasn't worth a murder.

"Stop thinking about me, it is not cool." Alec cut her thoughts.

"Yeah right, I was just thinking about how ugly that face of yours is." She replied sarcastically.

"We will stick together for the rest of the day, 20 minutes left for our Chemistry class and Samantha will be in the same class with us so we better keep an eye on her," his smile then turned to a frown, "and where are Rylee and Adam? They should have been back by now. Can you check where they are?"

A part of Hayley's talent was locating people, she would hear their thoughts and know exactly where they are, with Hayley there was no such thing as privacy.

"Your sister is still at Mr. Sterling's office and Adam hasn't even met his father yet."

They then went back to the cafeteria as they saw Samantha casually bullying a kid with the help of her two minions, Katie and Claudia.

Claudia was a redhead with curly hair, she had freckles on her white skin and she was one of the People of The River, she had an athletic body and she towered over Samantha by a few inches. Katie on the other side, behind Samantha, was blond with straight her, her toned skin was smooth and she was much skinnier than both Samantha and Claudia, she was one of the People of The River as well. These were the mean girls of Peyennah High; wherever Samantha would go, they would follow. Luckily though, they were not together in all classes as Claudia was stupid enough to fail in all of her classes last year while Katie spent most of her time in detention after being caught either hitting a girl or forcing a girl to drink from the bathroom water (high school is a creepy place).

"Well, well, well, who do we have here," Claudia said as she looked at Jonathan.

"Who is this cutie?" Katie continued,

"That's Jonathan the son of the coward." Samantha smiled as she let the boy she was stealing from go.

"But I see the apple has fallen far from the tree, he looks nothing like his father," Katie winked.

And Jonathan was stupid enough to blush.

"I see you have gathered your minions," Hayley said.

"I see you need bodyguards now," Samantha smirked.

Hayley's eyes were golden and grey in a second, her eyes started glowing but she quickly calmed down when Alec placed his hands on her shoulders, she realized what happened and they were back to green again.

"If you can't hold that tongue of yours, I think that you are the one who will need bodyguards," Alec smirked.

"I have a soft spot for that smirk." Claudia thought and Hayley heard again, at that point she wanted to throw up.

"What's wrong?" Said Rylee from behind.

"Is everything okay?" Added Adam.

They both came from behind at the same time and as they reached their friends, the bell was ringing, it was time for their Chemistry class.

"Nothing, Samantha here was just introducing me to her friends." Replied Jonathan.

And so they spent 2 hours in their Chemistry class which none of them seemed to enjoy, they had Maths afterward while Jon had a Geology class on his own without any of his new friends. During that Math class, Hayley was wondering about whether Jon's first school day was interesting enough or not, 'if not, we still have an investigation tonight," she told herself.

After they were done with their Math class it was 1 pm and they all still had an English class which was Hayley's least favorite subject as their teacher was Mrs. Primaveri who was also, the school principal's assistant, Samantha's mother.

Mrs. Primaveri was determined to give Hayley a 'C', even if she did perfectly, Hayley hated her class and she hated English even more. 'That's my final year,' she thought as she stepped into class, finding out that for the first time in forever, Mrs. Primaveri was not going to be her English teacher, she was promoted to become the principal. After they were done with class, Hayley went to share the news with her friends who were as shocked as her.

"I hope this year ends, this is too much," Rylee whined.

"If you will excuse me I have to go work out now. I will be home at 5 and we have an investigation at 9, don't be late. You too, Jon." Alec was staring at Jon.

"I have a meeting with the leaders of my people."

"So? It is at 7, our investigation is literally 2 hours after," He figured she read his mind again "I am sorry I cannot stop reading minds it has become my addiction." She shrugged.

"I will try..." Jon said hesitantly as they all left.

Hayley went home on that day with Rylee, their house was a 15-minute-walk from Hayley's desert. Hayley always went to Sterling's house after school, it has become their daily routine. They would train together and then study together, this has been their sacred tradition for the last 5 years. On their way home, Hayley figured something was wrong with Rylee and so once again she read Rylee's mind. "He wants Adam to go as a messenger? ALONE?" She shouted.

"I don't even know what does he want Adam to say, does he want him to go there and get himself killed? I sometimes don't know how my father thinks."

"Exactly the way you do, oh wait, you never think." They both cracked up.

"I'm coming with you too."

Hayley has not met nor spoken to Alberto Primaveri since the day of the infamous fight; however, she decided that it was time she meets him. She is stronger than before, she has the support of her friends and it is about time, she gets closure with this family before graduating.
