《The Red Sun》Alexander

Andre Star did not seem to react to what he has just heard. He still had that fake smile of his glued on his face and his brown eyes did not move. They were focused on the goblin in front of him. Andre Star was a handsome tall man with brown hair, and a constant fake smile that didn't change no matter what. Alexander has lived for 17 years and 8 months, and for all that time, he has never seen that smile twitch. Students at the cafeteria started looking at each other as they were not convinced by what they have just seen and started gossiping straightaway, overflowing the whole cafeteria with noise. The cafeteria was huge, it had tall white walls and the floor was made of white tiles. The tables and benches made it seem less white due to their beige color, however, it did not make such a beautiful contrast. Alexander always thought the school owner designed it that way because it was the cheapest (he was not wrong).

"SHUT UP!" yelled Samantha as the noise started getting higher, she had a huge smile plastered on her face as she was looking at Alexander, Rylee, Adam, Hayley, and Jonathan. Rylee stared at her, seeing that Samantha's eye color was changing to blue again. 'Why can't she get over herself?' Rylee questioned. Alec was focused on the television as Andre started speaking again.

"So, what are you exactly?" Still smiling.

"They call us goblins."

"Goblins in 2020? Can this year get any better? What's next? Strange portals opening?" Alec didn't see who said it but everyone in the cafeteria laughed, but then silence filled the place as the volume was raised.

"Are you the only supernatural creatures that exist?"

"Of course not, there are werewolves, mermaids and mermen, hydras, banshees, yetis, gorgons, and much more."

"And how come we've never seen such creatures?" Still eerily smiling at the goblin.

"How come you've never seen me? Easy, we hide, or rather, we cloak ourselves with magic." The goblin grinned.

"What-" he was interrupted by the goblin.

"Let me share it with all of our listeners, sooner or later they will come for me so I have no time to waste," he then switched his gaze to the camera instead of Andre, "we have existed for the last 120 years, we are a result of mutation."

He started telling everyone the story which Alec, Jon, Adam, Hayley, Rylee, and even Samantha heard thousands of times. They all memorized it by heart; 120 years ago, the sun turned red. No one knew the reason behind this phenomenon, but they started hiding. Some people died, some lived and some even mutated. The mutation altered their bodies, giving them special magical powers. It had no scientific explanation as it was purely mystical. It was not hard to know their powers, some had the ability to control the sand in the deserts, to talk to snakes and scorpions, and control them. Three unlucky sisters turned into gorgons, who are the protectors of the desert, they had hair made of snakes and their eyes were able to turn anyone to stone. These people had golden eyes so they were easily differentiated among the others. They called themselves the People of the Desert. Others had the ability to move rocks the size of mountains, and control the snow on the peaks. The People of the Mountain could also communicate with bears, mountain lions, and even Yetis. Their eyes were stone-grey and they had the wisdom of a 100 men. The People of the Forest, with eyes glimmering with the color of emerald, had the ability to take control over trees. They even established a bond with the animals living there; the lions, tigers, wolves, and their pets are Griffins. Those blessed with the ability to control the water of rivers and oceans were the People of the River, holding unmistakeable icy blue eyes. Their bodies instantly adapt to living underwater as soon as they're submerged in a water body. They're able to communicate with all types of sea creatures.

The unfortunate turned into goblins; small, bald, green creatures that were enslaved for the past 100 years. These supernatural creatures found each other in Peyennah, Fritzlanda, where they divided and named themselves. They decided to establish clans so as to maintain order. The strongest of the people fought for 3 empty chairs and the 3 winners shall forever be responsible for these clans by giving their place to someone of their bloodline when their time is near. Alec's great grandfather, Arthur Sterling, won his chair in the Clan of Teleportation, a clan designed to control the movement of the supernatural creatures. They know when someone is on the move and they know when a portal is open. Any person with the talent of opening portals was welcome to join the clan. Alberto Primaveri, Samantha's great grandfather, got a hold on the Clan of Control. The clan that deals with outlaws and those who refuse to comply with the rules set to protect members of the supernatural world. Anyone who dares to step out of line would be arrested and sentenced. Mohamed Dawoud, Adam's great grandfather, won his place in the Clan of Knowledge, a clan which dedicated itself to investigate more about what happened on the Day of the Red Sun and to know more about the abilities of each of the People. Finally, the Clan of Goblins, led by Blykt Fierx, alive and well to this day as goblins are immortal beings.

During WWI, supernatural people were taken hostage where they were killed or tortured by those who found them, no matter what side they were on. So, the clan chiefs decided to protect their people by forever living in the shadows so no one would be able to hunt them down. Most of them settled in Fritzlanda, however, some have migrated to other countries, promising to never use their powers, and they all kept their promises. The Clan of Goblins stopped being servants after WWI as they were of great help to all of the other clans and so they were rewarded their liberty. No one knew what goblins' powers were, however, everyone knew that they were greedy and only cared about themselves so Alec did not understand why this queer goblin decided to come out and spill all the beans suddenly.

At the cafeteria, Samantha's eyes were fully blue so Alec and Rylee went over, she didn't flinch as Alec pulled the dagger from under his black hoodie's sleeve and told her to immediately hide them.

"No, and please put that away before you hurt yourself, or even better, before I hurt you."

"Oh, you wish." Rylee laughed.

"And what will you do Sterling girl, teleport? Oh, I forgot you can't... oops."

"Hide your eyes river girl, before you lose them," Hayley said as she came, "we don't want to make a scene, especially after what we have just witnessed, and for God's sake," she said as she turned to Alec, "hide that dagger."

"Fine fine, my fight with you all is not now, later but not now." She said as she shifted her eyes back to brown.

"What will we do now? That's one hell of a first day, to be honest." Jon finally spoke as they were going back to their table.

Alec looked at Rylee and they nodded at the same time.

"Oh wait, you have twin telepathy?" Jon asked while smiling, "I thought that was not real."

"We live in a world full of werewolves, griffins, Yetis, and us, of course, twin telepathy is not real," Hayley said sarcastically.

"We have to finish our day here at school to make sure that Samantha won't make anything stupid but Rylee and Adam have to leave now," Alec said.

"Adam has to go to his father to make sure everything is ok?" Hayley grinned.

"Will you ever stop reading minds?" Alec smiled.

"I can't promise." Hayley shrugged.

"What are you all talking about?" Jon lifted an eyebrow.

"Hayley's talent is mind-reading, she can be at her house in the middle of the desert and still know what you are up to when you are on top of a 200-meter mountain," Rylee said standing up.

They all walked to the corner at the back of the playground where no one would be able to see them and Alec created a weird green portal for Adam and a red strange-looking portal for Rylee. "Don't forget to be back in 30 minutes we have a class," Hayley said.

"And now of course they will kiss," Alec said making a face.

Rylee and Adam looked at him, hugged each other and then they disappeared into the wall of the school playground's corner.
