Everyone is asleep.

I don't want to go.

I won't be responsible for another child's death.

"I love you daddy." I whisper at his door.

I can't stay here and risk my pack. It's my pack too and I'm going to protect it.

I slide a note under his door before making my escape.

Brenton POV

I had a feeling my little bat wouldn't stay put. She knows better than to run away. She did it once and I let it slide but I warned her not to run again.

Yes this situation is different... I just hope she trusts me enough to be good and let me take care of her and the pack. I am just as upset as she is about Cindy's death. I was the one to tell her parents. I held them as they cried. Her big brother was just mad and ran off. It isn't easy being Alpha.

I already put out an order that no one other than warriors are allowed in the woods. Children are to be accompanied at all times. Patrols are doubled. I've been up most the night looking for their hide out.

It's 3am and I can still hear her breathing in her room. I put a microphone in there that transmits to my office where I am.

I think a quick cat nap on the couch then back to work. Thankfully she isn't going anywhere tonight.

4am

I can't hear her.

I woke up and I can't hear her.

I run out the door and up to her room.

Empty

I can smell she hasn't been gone long. I link the pack and we are on the hunt. Your bum is mine little girl!

Kenzie POV

Where do you even go to find a vampire? I figured the human town or near by it but I've been walking around for about a half an hour and nothing! It took me an hour to fly here so it's been almost 2 hours.

This sucks! I'm bored!

I just wanted to get this over with and save my pack but now I'm thinking I didn't think this through well enough. I don't even know where to find them.

"Bat... well it didn't take you long to decide." I hear someone say and turn around as a man jumps off of a building.

"How long have you been watching me?" I ask and he laughs.

"Ever since you entered my little farm here." He responds and I give him a confused look. Farm? "I grow a fine stock of blood bags don't you think?" He asks.

"You mean the humans?" I respond and he nods.

"Now I will have a little bat for my collection." He grins at me.

"I thought you wanted to kill me?" I say and he chuckles.

"Most of my kind would... but you are just a baby... I think I'd have more fun keeping you than killing you." He says moving closer to me.

"No... I can't..." I stammer.

"You speak as though you have a choice." He laughs.

I back away scared of him. I never planned on letting him kill me. I was gonna let him see me then run. Now that he wants to "keep" me I want out of here even more. Go go gadget bat girl!

I shift and fly straight up. I figure he can only jump so high but vampires run like lightning.

"You're testing my patience, bat!" He yells and I chirp at him. I will not be yours blood sucker!

"Get down here or I will kill every wolf in that pack!" He yells and I hover over him. "What you thought I'd chase you and leave them unscathed? No no little bat. I am a patient man. If you run I will kill them all then I will find you. By the time I'm done with you you will wish for death. It is in everyone's best interests that you fly yourself into my little bat cage and stay put." He gestures to a tiny cage.

I thought they'd be more concerned with me than the pack. How did he know my plan?... I guess I don't have a choice. I swoop down when I hear a growl and lots of wolves surround us.

"Don't you dare go into that cage little girl. You are already in enough trouble." I hear and see daddy step out.

"Well I guess it will be war then. Until we meet again my bat." The vampire says before running off. A group of wolves follow as another group circle the area looking out for more vamps.

"Come here." Daddy says and I fly over. "What am I gonna do with you... shift Makenzie."

Makenzie... I've never heard him say my full name not even when he is mad.

I shift and put the cloths back on that I was wearing before my shift.

"Let's go home." He grabs my arm and drags me along with him. It doesn't hurt but it's not exactly comfortable. Him not talking hurts worse.

"Just go to bed." He says when we get home.

"You're not gonna punish me?" I ask confused.

"I'm so angry right now but more disappointed. You don't trust me to take care of you. Spanking you won't make you trust me so what's the point? Just go to bed." He says and my heart breaks. It's easier when he punishes me.

Brenton POV

I sigh as she walks up the stairs. I don't know what to do. I walk to my room with pland to sleep the day away. When I step in something crinkles under my foot and I look down. I pick up the piece of paper and sit on the bed.

Daddy,

I don't want to leave you. I don't want to die. I want to spend forever in your arms but I can't. I am the Luna of this pack and I need to do what is best for them. I love you so much my chest hurts even writing this note.

I want you to know I don't plan to let them kill me. I've been running all my life and I can do it again. I will come back to you, Brenton. Once I've lead them away I'll be back. This is not goodbye, just see you later.

I know you are a strong Alpha but I feel like I have to do this to be a strong Luna.
